I haven't been in since this location changed restaurants - really nice decor. It was our first time in on a busy Friday night. No matter, they sat us immediately and our food came out very fast. In a word, delicious! Johnny Mac's has all the traditional Italian food you could possibly want, with a few local specialities, like Steak Tips. Portions are HUGE, and the food quality is high overall. Definitely a family friendly place too! I've driven by this place for years and always find myself saying "I need to eat there sometime." Well, we finally did last night and it did not disappoint. The food was really excellent with VERY generous portions. The wait staff (Shannon) was very good and friendly - attentive without being overbearing. I knew I was in a family place when she offered to go get more bread from the kitchen as two people were taking leftovers home. The pasta sauce reminded me to much of my mom's that I had to buy a jar before we left. We will certainly be back soon. Great job Ream! read more

I ordered from the the Halifax take out location several times and was very pleased with the quality of food however... the last time I went I was in a rush and just grabbed an paid for 2 frozen meals out of the fridge to cook at home. After cooking the meal according to the directions and serving it, we noticed that the chicken was RAW (pink) and had to throw it away. I'm hesitant to order from there again which is unfortunate because the convenience was fantastic after a long work day. :/ read more

Saturday evening at the new location. Reservations for four at 6:00 p.m. We were seated right away even though two people hadn't arrived yet. Kudos to our server, Jess W. She was excellent. Fast, pleasant, and no mistakes. Food was top notch and portions were huge. All in all it was very nice, although the larger dining room can get a bit noisy. Opt for the smaller room near the bar if you prefer a bit more quiet. Will be back again for sure. read more

Very disappointed, fried calamari was was warm, not hot. Meals were okay, we did not finish them, we had to fight flies while we ate. Waitress was not outstanding, went to get our bread and did not come back with it. We had to ask where the bread was. We will not return to this location. read more

Husband & I went out for late lunch/early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar. Lorna was great. Made a great martini, a delicious mocktail & a good pour of wine. We had arancini,small? I was very excited to have this place opening up across the street in the rundown old biker bar that was there. After all an Italian place instead of a dive bar across the street is a good thing right? Turns out.... Not so much. This place dishes out massive quantities of mediocre at best Italian food. I'm pretty sure the moto in the kitchen is "why bother spicing our food if we can just dump a pound of cheese on it". We ate here 3 times just to make sure it wasn't issues with new staff due to the fact it recently opened... then gave up. No better than an Olive Garden. read more

when my two girlfriends and I went into the restraunt tonight it was so cold we couldn't even take off our jackets. We thought it was a breeze so we asked to move. They didn't give us any silverwear until we asked. I had to ask if the heat was broken and the waitress said she turned it down and would turn it up. She did hit we were so cold my nose was cold. Our waitress never once came over to ask us if we needed anything or if we were okay. She was too busy talking to her table of friends and other waitress who were drinking.. when we were done we were waiting to pay but she was still too busy talking..I asked if we could pay up front and the staff who was drinking responded loudy. I went to the front to complain but they never said sorry or got. Manager.. food was good. Staff was awful.. will not go back and that's sad because I really liked it maybe will try the other one. read more

This is one of the best Italian restaurants hands down. Their dishes are all cooked to order and delicious. We have used their catering for Family Christmas parties for years now. My wife and I have had two great meals here. The waitstaff are friendly and the bar tenders are great. The portions are huge! They also offer small plates It's a great place for drinks with friends or dinner with the family. They have a dining room in the back away from the bar. Hi I was in town for the weekend and my son and my daughter in law and Grandchildren took me to this Restaurant bragged about , when I got there the owner had a long face and wasn't very nice she wasn't apologetic and was rude she said they were full we said will come back in an hour and leave our name she said oh we're full , all see had to say was I'm sorry but we are booked for the night. We are Spanish and felt she was being rude the people before us were treated much nicer, my money is just as good I work with people every day and have my bad days as an owner suck it up and be nice read more

I have eaten at Johnny macaroni's many times and I always have the same problem that the cooks need to drain the pasta.

I love this place. Simple and good. Good food, drinks, wine, service. And the antipasto is my favorite on the south shore.

Just left Johnny's had the best beef brosciole ever, except my mothers. I had a 20 min wait and to was worth every min. it's tough that they only make this dish for a few weeks this time of the year, but you can't go wrong with any of there meals. The portions are enough for dinner the next day unless you select the small portion. It may not be elaborate but I go for the food not the atmosphere , hope you go and try it you will enjoy. They have dropped the ball with door dash orders. On busy nights I lose money by waiting for them to bring out orders that are small. (For example, a single fettuccine Alfredo order). They used to be good about getting out the food. And even after the long wait it was obvious that someone forgot about the order because it wasn't even hot. The people I deliver to from here are unhappy, I'm unhappy. read more
