Heard about some bad experiences from others, and also good. Gave it a try. First was a lunch special pepperoni pizza. Was under cooked, but as I was somewhere I couldn't leave to bring it back, I tried it. It tasted fine, but chewy as a result of being under cooked. However, the next day was numerous trips to the bathroom. I'll skip the details. Second try was a small grinder and soup from the lunch specials. A toasted meatball grinder. That one, the bottom section of the roll was like a soggy grease sponge! It was so bad that it could not be opened to add some hot pepper. A toasted roll should be crispy, NOT spongy. And the "soup", supposedly a cream of mushroom. That was an unappetizing brownish grey liquid, that sadly looked like what my dog left on the garage floor when he ate something he shouldn't have. I thought about giving it to him to see if he would eat it, but he ran out the door when I gave it to him. Maybe in house meals are better than take out, but with two "strikes", I'm not going to try for strike three. read more

Went for a late lunch. Started with the fried pickles. They were very crispy and tasty. I ordered the fish and chips, grandson ordered the Italian grinder, son in law got the Hawaiian pizza. Service was great Hailey was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The pickles were great. The pizza arrived with cherries all over it. Even if you took the off the juice was still to strong. The cheese was obviously cheap cheese as it wasn't melted in the center. 2 bites and we sent the pizza back it was just awful. The grinder he enjoyed but not enough to take home the other half. My fish was awful. I had 4 bites and left it to go in the trash. She took of the cost of the pizza and offered to also credit us for the other 2 meals but I didn't feel that was right. We all agreed to try this place 1 more time. So we will be back. read more

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. They went above and beyond and the chef even came out to check on our meal. Every bite was bursting with flavor. Drinks are unique and well made. We will definitely be going back. Cozy spot, good for family or work gatherings. Only drawback is one night on a weekend, they started blasting karaoke. The singer sounded like dying cats. Met friends for an early dinner on a warm summer Saturday. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating when we asked to move away from the blasting AC. We ordered mostly handhelds which were all generous portions; a classic house salad, a classic lamb gyro with a Greek salad and fries, a pastrami Reuben with sweet potato fries and a chicken salad BLT with onion rings. All of the plates were nicely presented and more than enough food. The only downside was a bit of a wait for food and our check which didn't matter since we were busy catching up with friends. Well went the 2 nd time for fish and chips. Waited almost 25 minutes. When my fish came out it was sooo overcooked i could not and would not eat it. Haddock filet it was not. I have been to Mr. Zs in the past and it was decent but tonight was awful. We had to ask 3x for a kids menu, 3x for a kids water. I originally ordered a Pepsi and after everyone else ordered their drink I said I'll have diet instead, she brought both and charged us for both? We had 2 apps mussels and mozz sticks, no one ever came to clear our dishes and the waitress brought our 4 meals after 6 minutes of having our apps every meal came out about 4 minutes apart from each other..... and yes the kids Mac Alfredo was last to come out. Again, no dishes were cleared, with my 7 month old and 2 yr old trying to grab everything on the table! Awesome. We kept piling up at the end and nope still never cleared them. I had to ask for grated cheese for my pasta dish, also because she never asked if there was anything else she could get for us, and I clearly needed napkins since I was there with children! My husband finished his overcooked steak and my son was being alittle fussy so he picked him up from the highchair so I could start eating my dish. And as myself, my daughter and my dad were eating our meals another waitress asked if we still needed his high chair? Like really we are still eating. My husband is too nice and said no it's ok and she goes "Are you sure"? He replied it was fine, but I think this is the rudest thing someone has ever done to me at a restaurant! We were clearly still having our meal and what if we wanted dessert? Or wanted to put our son back down in the chair to use the bathroom? I could understand if we just payed our bill or idk we're getting up but the place wasn't busy, I called to reserve the table with two high chairs and we were there an hour. Just terrible terrible waitressing and extremely rude to take a high chair from a family who isn't even done with dinner. Now I've waitressed and bartended for years, I know how it is but Jesus get it together! Very disappointed this was supposed to be my Mother's Day dinner and just not impressed at all. read more

We found Mr. Z's on our return trip from a weekend at Foxwoods and are so happy we did! Party of three had a hard time deciding what to order for our late lunch because there were so many great choices between the regular menu and the afternoon specials. Our server was helpful and super friendly - great service! Two of us went with the lamb gyro platter and one with the afternoon special fish and chips plate. The lamb was perfectly done, spot on wonderfully executed gyros. The $10(!!) fish platter came with fries and cole slaw and tasted great. The breading was just enough, and the fish tasted fresh. We only wish Mr. Z's is down the street in Hampton, NH so that we could try all of the other choices on the menu. Ahh almost forgot about the calamari app - fabulous! My family and I love the one in Rhode Island, and since we were taking our little girls roller skating in Plainfield we figured we would stop here for dinner before going. It was our first time at this location and will probably be the last. Upon entering, the place was dead for a Saturday evening. The bar was crowded but nobody was in there eating. We were seated right away and I have to say I loved the tables and chairs! The heat was on and it had a very loud rattle right where we were sitting but it wasn't a huge deal. Our waitress was super nice and friendly and I wanted to like this place a lot more than I did. Both my girls had spaghetti and sauce on the side, I had the chicken broccoli Alfredo and my husband had a chicken BLT sandwich. My girls pasta was so mushy and gross and it was in a huge puddle of water like they didn't drain it? My Alfredo sauce had zero flavor and it was so watery like soup consistency. The broccoli was burned and the chicken was so gross.. it was all fatty and had gritty pieces in it. They don't have fettuccine so I had to have linguine which was also super mushy. It was honestly disgusting. My husbands sandwich also had gritty fat pieces in it and he didn't like his either. The fries and pickles were good though. We barely ate anything and when the waitress came back and asked if we wanted boxes we all said no at the same time lol. I'm sure she knew something was wrong. We left her a good tip because she was awesome, but for $80 of trash we will not be returning. read more

Let's just say that in this part of the state.. restaurants are few and far between. The population is small and if the food isn't good.. people will not go back to give it a second chance. Mr. Z's has lasted in this spot for a reason. The food is good. The menu is expansive. The decor in very nice. All dark wood with stone tile floors and an open kitchen. The food itself is very good. The pastas are always my go to but I have enjoyed a few salads. Definitely a nice staple restaurant to have in this area. read more

We were in the area and decided that we needed to pick up lunch. I looked on yelp and found this restaurant that served lunch and would deliver at curbside. So we called and ordered essentially by just looking at the pictures on yelp. The burger look good so we got that. We had a choice of french fries and curly fries and onion rings and sweet potato fries so we tried the onion rings. They brought it out to the car and it was very safe. It was also served with coleslaw which was excellent. Unfortunately I didn't think to tell them what condiments I wanted. They didn't ask me either so we got a bacon cheeseburger that we put on the lettuce and tomato included in the container. It was very good just like that. The onion rings were really good and very fresh tasting. The coleslaw was great but there were no napkins or forks included. Fortunately we had a spoon still in the wrapping in the truck so we were able to eat it. The service is usually decent. Yet the food was horrible. I ordered a salad and the chicken was so dry I wasn't even sure it was chicken. The dressing smelled bad like it was left out. The actual lettuce had mold on some parts My baked potato was burnt at the bottom and tasted over cooked. My husband, who is a veteran had chicken pasta and his chicken was also old and dry. The bread was so hard I couldn't even cut it open. We ordered 2 drinks and the total order after taking off the price of my chicken was $80. To make matters worse, we got food poisoning from the little food we did eat. I will literally never eat hear again. Sadly the last 3 times the food was not great. It's not worth it. read more

They ran a Super Bowl special and encouraged everyone to get their orders in. I called on Saturday, ordered 20 wings, the girl read back my order and confirmed I could pick them up at 5pm Sunday. We arrived on time and found a line out the door. We waited in line and was told we had to pay before they put the order in. It was another 30 minutes before they were ready. while waiting we heard people saying they ordered Thursday and Friday and were waiting over 2 hours. The girls waiting on the takeout line were also answering phones and seating people. we could hear them telling people the manager had left because they ran out of wings. It was pure chaos. We have ordered usíng delivery twice and both times it took over an hour and a half to get our food. it was cold. We enjoy the food, but takeout and delivery are awful. Needs better management and don't offer specials you can't deliver on. read more

Got a large overstuffed wrap with LETTUCE 2 oz of chicken, 4 strings of mozzarella ( why not melted??l), nasty half ripe tomato. Terrible stale chips. What a joke. Challenge me, anyone. We've been enjoying food from Mr.Z's since they opened and have always raved about them. We order from there quite frequently. Lately (the last two months) we have been disappointed. Pizza is still delicious but every time we've ordered a salad it has been missing stuff or has wilted lettuce,... pretty disappointing for a $10+ salad. The take out counter service hasn't been the greatest - not super friendly and not timely (they told us 15-20 minutes- it took 43). I tried sending them a complaint via their online contact us option but never received a response. I'm hoping they go back to their exceptional service we came to expect soon! read more

My son took me to this restaurant on 09/30/2014 and the food was excellent ,we had this server name Dan and I was watching him while he was holding on conversations with all his guest , I felt at home just watching him work,he came to are table several times to ask if everything was alright and he was telling us about Mr.Z he is a great assent to this business ,and The Attendant was a hard and fast worker she reminded me of myself , clean and set table nicely manner,I hope this business stays awhile cause I can see myself back.
