The slices are large, with a whole pie as large as a spare tire. What's the most important thing to a large slice? Right, the crust. It needs to be balanced, and IT IS. The bottom, having a thin crisp that doesn't impede a proper fold, if ya know what I mean. Breaking through that crispness into the perfect balance between soft, and a structure with the right amount of chew. The speckled char from their oven gives a gentle kick without tasting burnt. This pizza joint has a nice layout, and is one of the few places around (VERY few) that offer pizza by the slice, which I am always looking for. Judging by the pizza itself, I can say it's OK. The crust is not quite NY style, not quite thick crust but somewhere in the crispy in-between. I'll say that the pizza really looks nice, and I was surprised at how crispy it was despite sitting on display and ready to eat, sans reheating in an oven like your typical by the slice place. The flavor of the pizza is where it doesn't stand up to muster. It's just not there. The crust is the more prominent feature and flavor in this pizza, and I don't mean it's flavorful - there just is a lot of it and is what gets the most bite. I still appreciate it as an option, and hopefully in the future they can add more flavor into their sauce, as that would go a long way. I got the pepperoni and peppers and onions pizza. we ordered from this location thinking it was comparable to the pizza pizzazz in moosup, ct....well it is not, not at all. the "roasted peppers" were hard and not what i am used to with any other pizza place. the toppings were expensive and barely on the pizza for the price. then to have to pay for extra marinara sauce on the side is ridiculous. and after having our order made wrong and waiting for another to be made it was nothing like we were expecting at all and both my sister and i ended up with cramps, immediately in the bathroom and nausea. if you want a phenomenal pizza i recommend driving to the one in moosup ct over the top better quality and taste. read more

Steve and I were returning from Brimfield antiques fair via Worcester, MA and doing a self mapped "beer trail" along the way home to Waterford, CT. Our second to last stop was Black Pond Brewery. While enjoying their beer and cider, we asked where the other beer drinkers bought their pizzas and the beertender told us about Pizzazz Pizza and pointed me towards a menu they had on the table by the door. I called the PP to ask if they offered gluten free options and YES! They did. Since Black Pond would be closing soon AND we wanted to head on down to one other brewery, I decided to order the pizza to go. I chose a pastrami pizza. Neither of us had ever had one before. The order took about 20 minutes to cook and the pizza was still in the oven when I arrived to pick it up so when I received it, it was piping hot and smelled soooooo gooooood. We drove down to Norwich with the boxed pizza, dying to bite into it. Twenty minutes later, we arrived at Epicure Brewing Company and the pizza was still nice and hot. and holy cow...IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! We certainly will try other pizza combos from Pizza Pizzazz as they offer several unique pizzas. oh, btw...GF pizza was $12.99 which was a STEAL for the deliciousness we walked away with! I'm probably a unique reviewer of this place, as I'm not a local. I was visiting Danielson for a day and was looking for a great place to eat. I looked up reviews on Yelp, and this restaurant seemed to be one of the most highly-regarded eateries in the area. First things first: The reviews don't lie; this is a great place to go to if you are craving pizza or a calzone. Centrally located in "downtown Danielson", it is a clearly well-known establishment among the locals, as the owners interacted with a large majority of their customers on a first-name basis and spoke with them as if they had been ordering food from this place for years (which they probably have been). The prices are fairly reasonable, and the option for unlimited fillings in a calzone for one price was an attractive option for only $7.80. Even if you're not in the mood for a pizza or calzone -- which you can choose from a massive selection -- there are always options for appetizers, soups, pasta, hot and cold subs, burgers, gyros, and other on-the-grill options, making this place easy to pacify even the pickiest eater. Plus, free wifi while you eat is never a bad thing. I probably would have given this place 4 stars if I hadn't run into two things that were a bit of a turn-off for me -- and both had to do with interacting with the owners. For one, I was ignored for a good while both when I wanted to make my order and when I wanted to pay for my order. I understand that the place is busy, but it consistently seemed like other customers were being helped before me. Maybe it was because I wasn't a local that the owners knew? I had to be very forward with grabbing the owners' attention to actually order and pay for my meal. Secondly, while two of the three people working there were generally friendly, the third guy seemed to be super grumpy and dampened my eating experience a bit. Helen & George simply make the best fresh pizza, salads and dinner plates in town. I've read the reviews about locals being treated with better service, attention, etc. Those complaints are unfounded. We usually call in our orders or they know what we want when we walk in. That's not favoritism but professionalism and efficiency as many of us work nearby in the courthouse, or law offices in the area and have a limited lunch hour.
