Wow! This place was so good. The family that runs it is so nice and very welcoming. Our food was hot and fresh - the fries crispy - even the fountain drinks were delicious. My husband had the chili dog which had the perfect amount of chili and cheese and he opted for sweet potato fries - didn't try the dog but his fries were good. I had the original chicken sandwich and regular fries and both were as I stated before, hot and crispy (I ordered the fried not grilled chicken)also had the perfect amount of toppings. Picked because I'd never tried this franchise before, it was a pleasant surprise. I seldom visit mall food courts, but with pandemic restrictions lifting and shopping at the lunch hour, the aromas were almost overpowering. John's is a burger joint serving mostly burgers (du-uuh!) It's unpretentious even though it proudly serves Blue Bell ice cream. It's happy to still be open and the front staff are hawking samples of a new fried side that doesn't yet seem to be on the overhead menu. It knows it's target and keeps it in sight. My Original John's Burger was perfect: full of flavor, juicy, piled with fresh toppings, fully biteable and everything stayed between the buns (I didn't have to leave the mall wearing designer food stains!) I'm not a fan of battered french fries because the batter usually hides a cheap, flavorless potato. NOT AT JOHN'S! The fries are lightly floured and the potato stands out. I also love ketchup with my fries, but my order was full of crispy outsides, fluffy insides, and stood on its own without need of ketchup. Bonus! It's mall food, so your mileage is likely to vary, but John's is definitely worth a stop. read more

I had high hopes for John's Burgers. Almost everywhere you go in Cool Springs Galleria you are attacked by ads for their 'black angus' burgers and fresh cut french fries. You go to the food court and you see the stand for them - decorated almost like Five Guys - which I love - in red and white tile. I figure - if they are trying to follow the Five Guys recipe with fresh meat and fresh cut fries - but doing one better and using black angus beef - then this place has a recipe for success. Take Five Guys (which I think is great) and move it forward a bit with better meat and you can't fail, right? Uhm....Wrong. I'm not sure where this 'Black Angus' beef they use comes from - but it tasted processed and just plain icky. The beef was very tough and, in fact, I threw most of my burger away. It was just pretty much inedible. I actually have had better, more flavorful burgers at McDonalds. However, the fries here were good. This is the only reason it gets 2 stars and not a 1. But they weren't good enough to save this little food court upstart. A few things I have found out since my visit: First, you can call any beef whatever you want to call it. From the website 'the straight dope' : "...Just because something is labeled "Angus" or "Black Angus" doesn't mean it's the same quality as "Certified Angus Beef." Angus beef is further differentiated by USDA grades such as "prime," "choice," and "select," giving us such labels as "Certified Angus Prime," indicating the best Certified Angus Beef. Also, if a store is outside handing out a coupon for dollars off their food just to come and ORDER (not necessarily to come back) this should be a sign that they are desperate for customers. All the other restaurants are handing out samples of their food to have you eat there - they are handing out coupons to get you to buy. read more

One plus is that its cooked fresh but that's it. Fries are cooked in old oil. These fries should taste great but they fail. The burger patties are so bland. No seasoning at all. Taste like dark gray meat just blaw. The soda makes me think the machine isn't being cleaned everyday. read more

Craving a burger while shopping at Cool Springs mall? We were shopping at the mall after Christmas. When shopping at the mall it is much easier to check out the food court than it would be to eat outside the mall and have to come back and find another parking place. I'm not one to drive around forever for a parking place. I would rather walk than stalk someone for a closer spot. When you are already inside it is just easier to eat where you are shopping. My craving of the day was a burger. We eat a lot of mexican and asian food so I wanted something different on this day. I could be wrong but the only burger I found was at John's Burgers. There was quite a line and they smelled good so we got in line. I ordered a burger with mayo and tomatoes and fries. Everything was good. Great food. Fresh, hot, tasty, these describe the food served to me. The fries were piping hot, and went great stacked on my cheese burger. The ingredients used seemed fresh, and didn't even need to ask for ketchup. The one thing I found difficult was communication. It could have been my own hearing due to a perforated eardrum, or the accents of the employees. I stopped at John's burgers while shopping yesterday and was really excited to get a burger like the one in the pictures on the wall. They lured me in with some $6.49 special, but somehow my total was over $9. That's about how much I pay at Five Guys, so whatever. It's a treat. I got my food and happily tore open the wrapper to see a gray, school-lunch type patty staring at me. I'm too much of a sissy to confront anyone but I really should have asked for a refund. I tried this place for the 1st time on 5/16/17. They AGGRESSIVELY badger customers like used car salesmen, and the food falls short. The fries were decent- pretty good, but Original Cheeseburger (with fake uncooked bacon) was the WORST burger I've EVER had in my ENTIRE life, and their "whatever" attitude was disgusting. They are not even remotely worth the price I paid for that garbage, and they barely speak English. Plus, I'm not even sure if that meat was indeed hamburger meat.
