Been going here for years, certainly since we moved to this neighborhood in 2000 or so. A little more expensive, but always seemed worth it until today. Got home with a mistaken item on our pizza. Family heard me order it, do don't think I'm wrong. When I called. I was told I was just wrong. No attempt to even be pleasant. My entire family invaded this place last night but they handled us well and gave us the "Garden Room" for our party of 23. We actually used to frequent this location in its previous life (Easy Street West) so I was curious to check out the rennovation. Wow! You'd never guess it was the same place. We tried the cheese bread (they charge extra for marinara which is weird. You know we want it, why not just include it?) which was tasty and a BBQ Pulled Pork pizza. Now, our mistake was not noticing that this pizza comes with sweet pickles chopped up on it. Hubs hates pickles in all forms and I really don't care for sweet pickles. Had it been pickle-free, it would have been a pretty good pizza. I also got a bit of the Denver and a Sausage & Green Olive pizzas and both were tasty. Some oddities: the menu doesn't tell you how much it is to build your own pizza. They claim that each topping costs different amounts to add so you never know what you're going to pay. Why not split the difference and charge the same for all toppings? Or divide toppings into categories (Standard and Deluxe) and give prices for each category? We also tried a malt, which was good. No complaints there. We usually go to another pizza place that does combo deals (pizza, bread & a pitcher of pop) and we like it there. I'm glad to have tried Johns but we'll probably go back to our usual place. read more

**update** Ate here a couple of times after loving the delivery, and I would say it didn't stand out as a pizza place I'd want to frequent. If I'm going out for pie in Saint Paul, I'm heading to Savoy's. But I'll still get John's for delivery. (Ironically, I'm not as big a fan of Savoy's leftovers; much better when it's fresh and at the restaurant... basically the opposite of John's.) read more

After reading all these reviews, I've noticed that most people are only eating the pizza. Big mistake! Try the Italian Fingers, Chick-a-Dilly sandwich, or my personal favorite, the BBQ Chicken Sandwich. I'm like Joey from Friends with that sandwich...greatest in the world. read more

It's a little on the expensive side but I found it worth the extra money. I loved the vegetarian options which were unique and delicious!

I love John's Pizza! We order from them pretty frequently and it's so nice to have a LOCAL pizza place nearby that delivers. I've always received excellent customer service and hot food when delivered. Eating in the restaurant is also nice and they have a great patio. I tend to err on the boring side when it comes to pizza but John's has changed that for me. I would HIGHLY recommend the BBQ Chicken Pizza (so good it makes me want to cry.. pickles?!), Hog in the Bog (so weird but so good), and the California Dreamer (so. many. artichokes), and their FRENCH FRIES WITH A HOMEMADE GARLIC RANCH OH MY GOD GET THEM TOO. Yes, their pizza is more expensive than a pizza chain but it's so worth it to support a local business with awesome, quality food! read more

We haven't been to the new location yet, but are really excited to try it out sometime. The old location, directly across the intersection, was funky but hard to maneuver with small children and not much of a seating area. Hence, we hardly ever ate at Papa John's ,but would order take out. John's/ Papa John's has great pizza. They grew their own basil in the basement all year round so you could have fresh pesto on your pizza. How awesome is that? So local, you can taste it. We love all the vegetarian pizzas they offer, especially Farmer's Delight. It's worth working through their menu, one by one. read more

Great menu. Choices for everyone. There pizza is amazing but everything else on the menu is too. My favorite is the chicken Mexican extravaganza with red peppers added. Or the California dreamer with German brat sausage. The Big Kahuna burger is a new menu item that is a great twist on the American burger. This isn't the cheapest pizza in town, but its worth the extra 20% or so. Tip the staff, they do a great job running the place. read more

I'm eating da envious turkey sandwich as I type this. This is my first time ordering here as I don't live in the area, I'm just house sitting for a friend. But man oh man am I glad I picked this place. It was ready to pick up when I got there ten minutes after I had ordered. It's stacked high with meat & veggies, it's really flavorful. The tater tots are hot & crispy. I haven't gotten to the dessert yet but the lemon bar I got is a nice size. Overall, a great experience. Absolutely the best pizza in St. Paul. John takes the time to make a quality product every time. The ingredients are fabulous and the preparation perfect. I live about 20 miles away otherwise it would be my regular pizza choice. But because it is not, I can compare it to the others including the newer so-called Gourmet pizza places like Sarpino's or Umbria. Even Pino's, who does a great Italian dinner, pales in comparison. Had John's about 10 times in the last 6 months for work catering and personal. Pizza is wonderful. Hog in the Bog is my favorite. Actually anything with that sausage is amazing. Ate there for lunch after a day at the como zoo. The pizza was great! I had my kids with and it was SO much better than the pizza ranch we normally have. Staff was super friendly and while they don't have a gluten free menu, was super helpful when trying to figure out what to order. It was a perfect day to enjoy eating on their outdoor tables. I've ordered delivery from John's a couple times, and it's good pizza, but the customer service is bad. The worst experience I had was this week. I placed an online order at 8:00 on a Tuesday night. After 90 minutes, I called John's and was immediately scolded for calling during closed hours. I ordered my pizza during open hours, but they forgot to check the online orders. She said they would refund the transaction, but made no other offers to rectify the error. Terrible service. read more

The only reason I am rating 1 star is because of the food. The service is so poor that you have lost me forever. Kathy is the single rudest person I have ever talked to on the phone. I love this place!. I heard about this place 3 years ago from some friends-awesome. I both eat in and have them deliver to my work in St Paul as well. I have converted more than a few co -workers to Johns Pizza! Normally I get the HUGE Calzone.. worth at least two meals, but have had, on occasion, the Hogg in the Bogg pizza-yummy and a few others. I also get their salad to go if I'm driving by... its great for work lunches. Its reasonably priced, big menu to choose from for all tastes! I just wished they delivered to my house.. I never write reviews...especially negative ones. But after this last experience...we are officially done with John's. The food is great (although expensive for what you get) and the staff and delivery people are always courteous. We've only once eaten there (all other times has been delivery) and the experience was okay. So why the 1 star review? The customer service and delivery experience is the absolute worst. The last 4 times we have gotten delivery (we took a 4 month break after the last incident) were an utter mess. Either 2.5-3.5 hours deliveries (yes one order took close to 4 hours to be delivered), entirely wrong orders (despite an itemized receipt attached), or a remarkable mess of both. Tonight, we decided to give them one more chance again. Once again, a long wait (though not as long as before) and a screwed up order. The answer on the phone. "Well if you want we could send out the correct order or we could just give you 50% off a small cheese pizza next time (equivalent of $4)." As if giving us the food we actually paid for is a favor to us? The $4 off future order promise is the same promise the manager has made to use before (amongst others). Surprise, surprise though when we call to order it's never on our account. And it's always the same excuse. "Gosh, I dunno, we're just so busy tonight..." (Friday/Saturdays- shocker) "...and we are short staffed...we just weren't anticipating so many people." EVERY. TIME. Same ridiculous excuse, same weak attempt to remedy the problem. Great service, I ordered the Chick-A-Dilly pizza. I have never had a pizza like that before. It was delicious and I highly recommend.

Inexpensive but absolutely delicious. Always think I'll eat a couple of slices but they are just too big.

Not impressed. I placed an online order for Italian fingers, a cheese burger, and a philly cheese steak sandwich. The Italian fingers were overcooked and dry as a bone. I called John's Pizza to complain and the woman told me I could either come back now and they would cook me a new order, or the next time I come in they would give me 50% off an order of Italian fingers. To be honest, this did not sit well with me. I wanted to eat my sandwich, not drive back to Johns Pizza 15 min away from my house to pick up another Italian fingers and let the rest of my food get cold. Instead I had to opt to get 50% off my next order of Italian fingers. (Not that I will be returning!!!) My parents ordered a cheese burger to share. They complained to me that the burger was also really dry, and there were hardly any condiments with it. My father even commented that the Italian fingers were the worst he has ever had, and that the chips that came with the burger was the best part of the meal. Bad food, and bad customer service. We will not be returning to Johns Pizza. read more

My work is just down the street from John's, so sometimes we order for lunch. I've never been a veggie pizza person, but their veggie pizza is AWESOME. So are their other pizzas though too. Great sauce, perfectly baked crust every time. I've had some of the sandwiches too- their Philly cheesesteak is piled high with meat and cheese. I usually get it with their homemade chips. Never had a bad meal and their delivery is usually pretty fast! read more

I get the impression that the proprietors of this place don't particularly like their customers. The lady that took my order was stern and gave me the impression that I was interfering with some important project she had going. I ordered the Envious Turkey with a side of Tater Tots and a fountain drink. The sandwich was wonderful. The Tater Tots were under cooked and they came with a little bitty cup of ketchup. When I tried to dip the tots in the ketchup they just fell apart. I scraped out as much of the ketchup as I could but there was still only enough to dip 5 or 6 tots and then it ran out. Mind you, I am eating in the restaurant. I approached the lady at the register and she seemed exasperated that I wanted more ketchup. That stuff must be expensive. Oh. I can't forget to note that they had some right wing TV station blaring angry rhetoric through my whole meal. The place has potential but I wouldn't recommend it to someone I liked. read more

Living outside of the Luce area can be kind of a bummer. No craft beer and pizza, no late night delivery, but Luce doesn't have pizza this good. If John's restaurant had 5 taps of local beer, a place to watch some sports and enjoy some pizza at the same time it'd get 5 stars from me. I love the Hog in The Bog, Da Works, California Dreamer (add pepperoni) and my favorite thing on the menu by far is the garlic twists with the dill dipping sauce. John's is on par with Luce on price and a bit more expensive than Dominos, Papa John's and Pizza Hut. Totally worth it! I used to love John's - they had great pastas and were close to work. But they recently changed their menu and the new baked pastas are really dry and lacked flavor - I ended up throwing the leftovers away instead of being willing to eat the rest. I would recommend choosing anything else on the menu. Please bring back the cream basil pesto! They do deliver which is great but it is very slow so make sure to plan ahead. read more

John's has the most delicious food. I love the Chinese Fire Dragon and the Turkey Florentine Hoagie. I eat from there at least weekly. They are a little expensive but so good. Their new location is nice and clean if a little sterile (not the same character as the old place). read more

I love this place. Sometimes the delivery can be cold. Breadsticks are the best. Great pizza and sandwich opitons.
