This place is an absolute gem in the DinkyTown area. It's literally one of my favorite and top spot for New York style pizza! Decent service and chill vibe though it can get loud with all the college kids at times. They offer some fantastic pizza combo deals that brings in the crowd. Sitting area is available inside and outside as well during the warmer seasons. Parking can be difficult since this is on campus but when we can't find parking, we order online for pickup! Pizza by the slice is fun, and pizza is almost always good, but unless I'm in a hurry or in a very specific mood I'm probably not choosing Franks. That doesn't mean it's bad at all rather there are just better options outside those occasions. You will not be disappointed if you are hankering for a slice, but it's definitely not the number one choice for pizza. Never walking into this restaurant again. After eating an overpriced, mediocre slice of pizza, I walked out the door and realized I did not have my wallet. I walked back inside through the back door and a security guard confronted me. I explained the situation, but he yelled "where is your wallet" and told me to leave immediately. I obviously could not procure the wallet for this man since I lost it sometime in the restaurant (or before I entered since I often use Apple Pay). He repeatedly yelled "then where is your wallet" and grabbed my arm and attempted to hurl me out the door. Unfortunately, he succeeded in tearing part of the sleeve off my jacket. I left and found my wallet in the car, but had the worst customer service experience of my life. I'll start by saying: the people here are always friendly. Being easy to talk-to, respectful, and brief, they make it easy to approach the counter and pleasantly finish your business (even if you have trouble talking to people). The cheese steaks and fries are wonderful as well; far and beyond others in the area. The hot sauces, juicy meats, and spongy bread make every bite wonderful, while the fries manage to be soaked in flavor while staying crispy. Only two serious issues rear their heads: When you look around upon coming in, there's a few signs that tell you not to loiter. While this is understandable, it makes it clear this isn't a place to hangout for friends or wait to catch the bus when it's freezing outside. Eat and leave. Second and more unfortunate is the pizza. When you step in, you're greeted with broad windows filled to brimming with all these pizzas. They look beautiful and are featured in the store's name, but they've been dry and bland every time I've ordered them. If you're looking for some hot, indulgent food, drop in for a cheese steak or some fries (you'll have enough to take some home). Just steer clear of the pizzas. read more

I live fairly close to the U of M campus, and yesterday my daily walk took me right through the heart of it. I decided to stop in Frank & Andrea's because I've heard many good things about it from friends who have gone to the U. I got a slice of mac 'n' cheese pizza to go, the service was efficient and it came out quickly. The store is open until 3 AM, so it feels safe to assume that a lot of their clientele are drunk college students. Honestly, the pizza tasted like something that I would have really loved as an inebriated 21 year old, but as a sober person, it didn't exactly hit the spot. This is definitely a college restaurant. Minneapolis currently has a mask mandate, and you are supposed to show your vaccine card, or have a negative COVID test within 72 hours to dine in places. This place not only didn't ask to see vaccination proof or Negative COVID test results, but some of the employees weren't wearing masks. I went here on a date last night, after the 1st place we wanted to go did ask for our vaccination cards, and both of us didn't have them with us. Oh well, mistakes happen. We walked for less than 5 minutes and found this place. You can either get pizza or cheesesteaks. I did see they had a few veggie options, which was nice to see. I ordered the pizza, it's by a slice, or two slices you get a 'free fountain beverage' I think if given the option, next time I may only come here if I'm drunk and in need of food. It wasn't that the food was bad, it just wasn't good. The pizza is sitting out and they 'warm it up in the pizza oven for you after you pick which slice you want. So it's not fresh, or even close to fresh. Stopped here after a late night concert and I have to say my expectations were blown out of the water. I heard this was a late night college spot so I figured the food would be to that standard. I was happily proven wrong. When you walk in there's a handful of premade pizzas you can order slices from. They heat the slices in their oven giving it a super crispy bottom and crust and they have a variety of specialty toppings. I tried a honey mustard chicken style piece of pizza and it was incredible. I also got a Supreme Cheesesteak with cheese whiz and no green peppers, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender, the veggies were crunchy but cooked perfectly. The jalapeños gave a really nice heat with a fresh jalapeño flavor. Highly recommend for a late night bite or if you can't decide what kind of pizza to snack on. I do have to say there's not much parking nearby, lots of college students and bar-goers stopping in. There's security posted inside the building which is nice since it's close to a lot of college bars and campus. read more

We didn't think it was great and that goes for both the pizza slice and the sandwich - but I don't think Philly Sandwiches are really very good and I think that in Philly the roast pork is the winner and actual cheesesteak is just doomed to fail, as it doesn't really taste of anything except salt... but if that's what you like, this will do you fine and the pizza's not bad, it's just not great.
