When I was little, watching "The Love Boat" on Saturday nights and eating frozen pizza with my sister, I dreamed that my future Saturday nights would be coming to places like this. I almost sat there-but since it was my first visit, I opted for the dining room-which is actually several different areas, making the space even more inviting and sort of intimate. I'm clearly crushing on the vibe of this place... and the food lives up to the atmosphere. The complimentary bread is so tasty you don't even need the oil and spices that come with it, but they're tasty, too. I came hungry and ordered the fried cheese as an app. It's excellent... pillowy bites with soft, super shredded cheese on top (like snow). Ohhhh, so good. Now, I'll admit, I was full after this. But Joia has been on my list for *years... and I didn't want to risk not getting the chicken piccata. Ohhhh, I'm so glad I did! It comes with mushrooms and spaghetti with the same lemon sauce. So, so good. My server Sheila was excellent-so friendly and easy to talk to. She made me feel like a regular-and knows the menu inside out. They have a 2-for-1 martini special, Tuesday-Friday, 4-7. Parking is plentiful (Joia is in a shopping plaza, at 301 and Gibsonton) and there's covered patio seating. The live music was so smooth and just the right volume. Honestly, I can't wait to go back. Let me just say this... Joia did not disappoint! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm and relaxed but still gave that "grown & gathered" energy...perfect lighting, comfy setup, and you can tell the staff actually enjoy being there. If they don't like being there you wouldn't know it lol... Now onto the food... whew. The pepperoni pizza came out hot, thin, crispy, and perfectly cheesy just how it should be. The lasagna? Straight comfort on a plate... layers of flavor that hit all the right notes. The pasta was cooked just right, the sauce tasted homemade, and don't even get me started on that bread buttery, golden, and dangerous because you'll fill up before the entrée even lands. And that martini? 300 years!!! Uhhh Yeah... the drink was dranking! Whoever's behind the bar deserves their flowers because that cocktail was smooth, balanced, and went down way too easy. My friends and I finally got a chance to try this restaurant. We were so glad that we did! The staff was kind and we got seated quickly. There's an option to sit at the bar or at the tables they have available. My friends started with Shirley Temple, which they liked. One of them also had the jolly apple martini, which she raved about! They had a great two for one deal, which they have multiple days through throughout the week. We started off with the bruschetta, calamari, and crabcake sliders. All three of the appetizers were a hit at the table! The calamari was cooked to perfection. The crab cake sliders were bursting with flavor. We then moved on to our entrées, which were spaghetti, gnocchi with vodka sauce, and Margherita pizza. We all enjoyed our flavorful meals for the most part. The only downside would be the gnocchi with the vodka sauce. They don't give you much gnocchi, but there's a lot of sauce. The gnocchi normally comes in a Bolognese meat sauce, but because I don't eat meat, I asked for a different sauce not knowing I would be charged for it, and the unfortunately the waitress never stated that. Their pasta menu is fantastic, the chicken parm and mushroom ravioli are some of the bests. They also have great calamari. Their bartenders and servers are so friendly and attentive. I visited Joia Martini Bar today hoping for a relaxing dinner and some martinis after a long workday, but unfortunately, the experience was anything but pleasant. We ordered the 2-for-1 martinis and dinner. Our server, Bella, mentioned it was her first day--she was doing her best and was actually the only one who apologized for the poor service we received. The issues started right away. My mom's martinis came out a full 10 minutes before mine, and then both of my margarita gold martinis were brought out at the same time. No more than five minutes after receiving the drinks, our food arrived. I barely had a chance to enjoy my first drink before the second one had separated by the time I finished eating. I politely asked Bella if the second martini could be re-mixed. She took it to the bar to ask the bartender, Nicky. From across the restaurant, I could clearly hear Nicky loudly complaining about my request, saying, *"Well if she waits 5 minutes again..."* I responded, *"What if I wait 5 minutes again?"*--trying to clarify. Instead of resolving the issue, Nicky became defensive and continued venting to a customer at the bar (whether she knew them or not, it was completely unprofessional). Then, unbelievably, she walked to the other side of the restaurant and loudly said, *"She got 2-for-1 and still isn't happy."* Excuse me? That is the bar's own promotion. To hear staff degrade customers for taking advantage of it is incredibly inappropriate and unprofessional. I asked to speak to the manager, Sabrina, who only offered vague responses and "yes'd" me through the conversation. When I asked about Nicky's behavior, she told me Nicky had been there for "3 or 6 years"--not exactly confidence-inspiring. She also said she doesn't like addressing staff issues during their shifts to avoid "tension," which means poor service is tolerated in real time. Not once did she offer an apology. It's truly disheartening. I've been a loyal customer at Joia for years, but the quality and professionalism have gone noticeably downhill over the last three. Tonight was the final straw. I will not be returning. A restaurant is only as good as its staff--and more importantly, its management. Sadly, Joia Martini Bar no longer lives up to what it once was. read more

Our second experience at Joia did not disappoint. I ordered the Rigatoni Salsicca with a meatball on the side and everything was delicious. Although nothing is mentioned in the entry description, the sausage and the sauce is spicy. This is fine with me, but in bears mentioning. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the blend of peppers and onions with the sausage created a great flavor. The meatball was a decent size and was did not have much of the filling/breading that some meatballs have. Service was very good as well. Joia is my go to for great martinis and delicious pizza in Riverview. You can't go wrong here with their 2 for 1 martinis until 7pm on Tuesday-Saturday! I'm always satisfied when I leave here. Their service is is great everyone here is so personable. This place is nice and spacious with a great vibe. They even have live music on certain days and also have outdoor seating. I am a Caesar salad lover, and this is one of my favorite spots to get one at. The dressing has a delicious, zesty fresh flavor and it's a pretty generous amount for a side salad. If I'm not ordering one of their pizzas, I love their SAUSAGE & RICOTTA flatbread. They also serve pasta pasta, which I haven't tried yet, but I imagine it as delicious as everything else. Not a great experience today. We came in hungry and was looking forward to the complimentary bread before our entree as it comes out fast. We did not get that and when I asked for it, they bought it out after our food came out. What was the point of that. We also did not get silverware until after the food came out. It's a small bar area, unfortunately, but it's quaint and you talk to your neighbors! The 2-4-1 martinis are just limited selection, and they are all pretty much sweet, so don't think you're getting your dirty or gin drink. Also, the 2-4-1 has to be 2 two of the same drink, not two different martinis, and that's not stated anywhere. Also, the wine list was 70% California wines, which sucks for an Italian pizza place. I wish I took more pics but I'll start by saying even the bread basket and oil dip was AMAZING. Next we had the Fresca caprese and equally incredible. For drinks the extra dirty martini was a 10 and for our entree we had spinach Alfredo with chicken pasta and Penne Quattro. The servings were huge. We shared a tiramisu. Joia is a restaurant/bar that I have been to multiple times so I feel like i can give a good review by now. My thoughts on Joia? I love it! One of the few places in Tampa/Brandon that has an amazing happy hour with 2-4-1 martinis Tues - Sat. Sometimes I have to remind myself that's it's a work day and I can't go drinking on a Wednesday haha. The food is also very tasty. I have tried some of the pizzas and flatbreads as well as some appetizers. Would recommend their Hot Carozza(fried mozzarella), the sausage and ricotta flatbread and their rustica pizza. Make sure you get there early as there can be a long wait time understandably. My only complaint though, is the slow service. There are times when we would be seated and would not even get a glass of water or a greeting from our server for almost 15 minutes. Sometimes we would even have to search for someone to help us. overall, I will be back but probably at an earlier time. read more

The wife and I tried this place out during their happy hour which is a very popular time to be there. The Martinis were amazing and we quickly became fans of Joias . We have returned several times now and have eaten there as well as enjoyed the martinis. If you come on Friday or Saturday during dinner time you will enjoy live music as well. We have moved away from this area but we still stop in when we are in the area. The only caution I will give with Joias is that it is a smaller venue so if you are wanting to meet your crew here on the weekends you need to make reservations in advance.
