So glad they opened this location so I don't have to go all the way up to Tukwila to get my Jolilibee fix. It's the same delicious chicken, but in a really cutely designed dining room. There are a few booths, but it's mostly tables. We came near the night and the place was kinda messy, but I blame the customers more than staff for that. They're just trying to make it to the end of their shift. The jolibees I'm used to in the LA and San Francisco areas have palabok, so I was disappointed this place doesn't have it too, but I only took one star off for that. read more

There are over 5800 Jollibees worldwide. There are 95 Jollibees in the US. The majority are in California. "In 1975, Tony Tan Caktiong and his family opened a Magnolia ice cream parlor in Cubao, Quezon City. The outlet later began offering hot meals and sandwiches. When the food items became more popular than ice cream, the family decided to convert the ice cream parlor into a fast food restaurant, which became the first Jollibee outlet in 1978. Management consultant Manuel C. Lumba advised the family on the change in strategy. Jollibee was initially named "Jolibe", but changed its name to "Jollibee"." On 5/15/24, I had the opportunity to visit Jollibee for the first time. I went to the Tacoma Mall location, which opened on October 29, 2023. This is Washington states second location. Their first location opened in the Tukwila Mall in 2010. I was skeptical about Jollibee because I don't particularly care for fast food. Also, I've been to the Philippines, I like Filipino food, and I've cooked Filipino dishes. Still, it's such a worldwide phenomena that I wanted to check it out. I knew from having experienced hamburgers in Asia that I wasn't likely to be happy with the Yumburgers. After studying the menu extensively prior to my visit, I ordered a 1 Piece Chickenjoy Meal, and both the Ube and Peach Mango Pie. A 1 Piece Chickenjoy Meal is not noted on the menu because they would prefer that you order a 2 Piece Chickenjoy Meal, but it is available. It consists of "a Chickenjoy fried chicken drumstick served with Jolly Spaghetti. Served with a side of gravy for dipping." I was served a chicken thigh, not a drumstick. Part of the appeal of Jollibee's chicken is that the fried chicken coating is thick and crunchy. My chicken thigh was neither. I did appreciate that it was served HOT! A lot of people enjoy dipping the chicken into the brown gravy, which they claim enhances the experience. Many people rave about the gravy alone. I sampled the gravy by itself. I wasn't impressed. It seemed similar to KFC's. I tried dipping my chicken into the gravy, which didn't improve item. I took two bites of the chicken and I was done. Jolly Spaghetti is "Our one-of-a-kind spaghetti made with our signature sweet-style sauce loaded with ground beef and hotdog, and topped with melty cheese." The spaghetti sauce is made with banana ketchup. Banana Ketchup is a condiment that came about due to a shortage of tomato ketchup during World War II. Banana Ketchup consists of bananas, vinegar, sugar, and red dye. The sauce is somewhat akin to a Bolognese sauce, but much sweeter. It kind of reminds me of a variation of Cincinnati Chili. Given that I don't enjoy sweet entrées, I wasn't expecting to like it, and I didn't. Yet, it wasn't as horrifically bad as I expected it to be. I would like to try homemade version of this dish. I ordered two pies because Ube Pie is time- limited, and I like Ube. The Peach Mango Pie is always available, but I don't live anywhere near a Jollibee. Each pie cost $2.99. Jollibee doesn't have plastic knives, so I cut each pie in half with a plastic spoon to show you a cross section. I've never had a fast food fried pie before, so I don't have anything to compare these with, but I'm told they are better than McDonald's Apple pies. Pie is one of my favorite desserts. I didn't love either pie, but both were far superior to the chicken, gravy and spaghetti. The Ube Pie didn't have as much filling as the Peach Mango Pie, but it was pretty tasty. The Peach Mango was tasty too, though it was much sweeter. I don't see myself going out of my way to return to a Jollibee, but if I do, I plan to order the Adobo Rice, a seasonal Pie, and the Pineapple Quencher. read more

We also loved the pies and pineapple quencher. People complain because the service is slow, but they literally just opened and it's always packed. There was nothing Jolly about the experience. Not exactly the friendliest of staff. I ordered two meals: A two piece with a side of mac. The Mac is a $1.50 up charge. I wanted to sample the pineapple refresher drink prior to purchase. No samples allowed. You must buy the drink to try the drink. Not how I roll at all. Needless to say, I did not order the drinks. Funny thing, someone else came in and wanted a sample of the drink as they had just made a purchase as well. He stormed off and exclaimed that he'll never spend his money here again! So... once they gave us the food they told us to "have a jolly day", in the most unjolliest of tones. Now... the taste: The flavor of the chicken was good. But... I don't do well with wet, light skinned, fried chicken. I prefer my chicken fried hard. Not sure if that's an option. The $1.50 up-charged mac not good. Very dry and not creamy. I was so excited to find out that they were opening a second location in Washington. We came in around lunchtime, and the line seems long but it's mostly because of the way the store is set up. The store is super small and there is only room for about three people to stand in line before they have to start standing outside. Since it is a franchise, they can choose their own pricing and it is not consistent with the pricing you can get at the tukwila location. I was shocked to find out that there was no grand opening specials and no bundles similar to the other location. They do offer some bundles, including a bucket of chicken and a family size spaghetti with pies and another one that I can't quite remember. Overall, the chicken taste pretty fresh. The the seating area is pretty crammed and they have a few large tables and a few tables that's it two people. We ended up ordering and having to sit with this other lady, but it still was crammed so we decided to take it to go. I recommend only getting chicken if you plan to take it to go or going at a less busy time so that you can have seating. The restaurant is clean, as to be expected for being brand new, but their system, and the way things are running need a little bit of tweaking. read more

The customer service today was not as satisfied as normal. So when I order the food I ask for 2 spicy 4 non spicy. So the person who took my order probably made a mistake and put in the opposite which I was not paying much attention. I always double check if my order was made right so when I check the order was 4 spicy and 2 non spicy chicken. Then I just let one of the lady (Asian) know that my order was wrong before she could try to help me another lady (white) then interrupted us and had a attitude and just took the whole bucket threw it away which I thought that was just ridiculous she could've just take 2 spicy out and put the 2 non spicy in, instead of throwing the whole bucket out in the trash like it was nothing. I understand that one's the customers touched the food you have to throw it out but there was an easier solution that could've waste less food in my opinion. Finally, another Jollibee location in Washington! The grand opening was yesterday. Surprisingly, when my sister and I showed up around late afternoon, between 3-4PM, the line wasn't ridiculously long like we had expected. It was still long, but it was moving pretty quickly given it was opening day. It was very organized, and things seemed really smooth. There was security standing at the end of the line passing out a flyer, an employee with an iPad in line helping people place orders if they were ready to do it then, or wait until they got inside, AND you could even order online and pick-up the order. My sister and I tried to order online when we saw the line, but it seemed like things were not available, but when we ordered in person everything was available. So, it might have been a glitch. I'd been wanting to try this for awhile now. Bright & clean: even though it can get full, the turnover is quick so seats open up quickly. Service was a bit of a wait, but it was a busy Sat night. There was a mistake with one of our meals & it was fixed quickly & right away! I was relieved that my son could enjoy their sandwich w/some changes to accommodate his food allergies. The chicken in the Spicy Chicken and Aloha sandwiches were pretty large, well seasoned & moist, the mac & cheese was creamy, and the gravy is pretty tasty with the biscuit. Overall, a bit salty for my liking. I wasn't able to finish my meal, but my family of boys had no problem finishing theirs! I went here yesterday where I placed in an order on the mobile app and with set a pick up time of 5:30. I finished running around earlier than expected and ended up at the Tacoma location about 20 minutes earlier than my designated pick up time. Which was fine I didn't mind waiting. As I brought up my concerns to the cashier she was quite helpful and seeing if I can get what I've order sooner. Which I would definitely be grateful for. But to no avail I had to wait. Which was okay. The part that was okay was there was a man there. I am thinking her was a manager. As it was getting closer and closer to my Pick up time? my ticket of my Order didn't pop up. Which I think made them wary. I had my order number in had and there was no way of them telling me what happened to my order. The manager was going through all The tickets of his pick up order and basically told me that my order went in at 3:30 and someone else already picked it up. So confused by his statement I ask him if my order came out at 3:30 why would my app tell me to pick it up at 5:30. At 5:27 my ticket came in and the cashier that helped me brought it to the manager to show him, and how he deliberately lied to my face and gas light me in to making me think I had order for the wrong time. YES SPICY CHICKEN JOY IS BACK! Came here right after I went to the best Boba Shop in Tacoma, JODO TEA! I ordered online for pickup and was surprised that there was an all spicy option online. I thought this was too good to be true, but I selected it anyways. When I came in service was good. They asked for my order confirmation email when I came to pick up so make sure you have that out to save you some time! I haven't had Spicy Chicken Joy in soooo long so you know when I took that first bite it was out of this world. Regular Chicken Joy just doesn't hit the same this past year and I'm glad that I'm finally able to enjoy Jollibee's to its fullest potential. I've been hearing about this place for years. I finally tried it today with my wife. It's only about three minutes from my house. It was jam packed but they were getting orders in and out with no issue. Everyone was also very friendly. Everything was absolutely delicious. My chicken was freshly fried and hot. I had two biscuits, Mac and cheese, and mash as sides... delicious. We tried the pineapple juice, again, YUM! Stats: Tacoma Mall store, order 20257, date: 7/02/24 @ 7:40 p.m., just in case someone actually takes a look. Most important, the sandwich was fresh and tasty (but honestly, not any kind of flavor that was outstanding, just typical), until I got to the grit/sand that was in the lettuce. I got through most of the sandwich before that unpleasant situation occurred. I realize it's unlikely it will happen again, but I won't be able to get the thought out of my head for a while, if ever. Less important, but necessary to note, the cashier was so very unhappy at being there (his first initial is W) and do a job. He was thoroughly unpleasant and rude. It wasn't personal - I'm sure he was (and is) that way with everyone. I ignored his attitude, basically b/c it didn't matter much to me in that moment - I just wanted my sandwich and to go. I was pleasant - on purpose - seeing if he would respond. No snark, just treating him decently and appropriately. I've heard and seen a good amount of hype around Jollibee for quite some time now. A number of YouTube food reviewers and food blogs have talked this place up quite a bit; so I figured on my next work trip up to Tacoma, I'd stop by. I ultimately ended up regretting my decision! I ordered a 3 piece fried chicken meal which included 2 sides. I even decided to splurge and go for the "Premium" side of Mac n cheese. My total came out to just under $16. The fried chicken was extremely hot and rather crispy, which was the one okay part of the meal. Unfortunately, there wasn't much meat underneath all of the fluffed up breading on the chicken. The mashed potato portion was about the size of a decent ice cream scoop with a small amount of gravy, and the Mac n cheese was form fitted to the cup. I was able to "scoop" into it with my plastic spoon, and retrieve each bite like I was digging into a very thick version of a Caramel custard, i.e. Flan. The combo included a side of gravy, which I suppose was a plus considering the meal was almost $14 without the "Premium" Mac n cheese. All in all, I was rather disappointed with the unimpressive quality of the meal. We came on a Friday night during dinner time and was pleasantly surprised at how fast the service was compared to other Jolibee's we've been to. There isn't a lot of seating inside so I'd recommend taking your food to go - it's fried chicken! The crispiness will hold up, trust me! You can order your food ahead of time using the online app and pick it up on the shelves to the left of the ordering counter which would be the way to go. They only opened a few weeks ago and they were not offering 100% of their menu (ie: adobo rice and of all things, soda fountain drinks). We ordered a combo meal consisting of a 6 piece bucket, family sized spaghetti and 3 pies (which you can mix and match) for our family of 4 and we were all satisfied. Went there today for the first time, and it was crowded. There isn't a lot of seating space either..as for the food, I ordered a chicken sandwich meal and my friend got a 2-piece meal. While the sandwich tasted good enough, the meat was barely warm. Likewise the fries, which should have been hot considering all the fries they were selling. And who likes cold fries? My friend's chicken was hot however (he gave me a piece), and while it was good enough, it's not going to win me over from KFC. I'm getting "ordinary chicken joint" vibes from here, just very average. Maybe my opinion will change in the future? I think they are still trying to get their footing in this brand-new store, so I'll try them again sometime later. For now, just "meh". read more

Was eating here once in a while. Then today, while waiting for my order, I saw one of their staff handle food without washing their hands and wearing gloves. Grossed me out. Got a refund and will never be coming back to this location. I informed one of the managers, the excuse was "that person is still in training". I don't know there was anything done after that.
