This place has not only really good donuts but their breakfast is super tasty!! On the outside it looks really old. It looks like something that you wouldn't want to go to. But when you walk inside it's like walking into an old time diner. We found out that all the locals come here. Sure its just 2 older ladies running around serving everyone but they work so hard that will be happy to wait your turn. The donuts are yummy too. You can tell they're really fresh. Stopped here the day after visiting Cedar Point for a late breakfast. So good!! We arrived around 1140 am, no problem finding a place to sit. Not many donuts left, sadly. I was so disappointed in my experience here. We were looking for a good breakfast spot and noticed this on the way to Cedar Point and remembered it the next day. We got there about noon so the donuts were so sparse and few that we didn't get to try those. It was busy - all the booths were full so we ended up at the counter. It took awhile to get service and then when did - they were not to pleasant. The prices and choices are great - I got a pancake/eggs/bacon meal and gave the eggs to my friend as I cannot eat them. It was disappointing that I had to ask for butter and not only should that have been on there, the time it took, my pancakes cooled as well as she brought two small packets and basically tossed them too me as she passed by, so I didn't even have an opportunity to ask for more (I like a lot of butter on my pancakes). My friend had a breakfast sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and was pretty happy with it. He also had some corn-beef hash which he said was pretty good but the same stuff you get out of a can. I am not sure what was wrong with the pancakes but there was something that didn't taste right and unfortunately, I belched it up throughout the rest of the day. Food prices are excellent. Food is excellent as well. Only thing I have a complaint about is the customer service. We are from out of town and went two days in a row, both days they did not greet us upon walking in. You find a table and basically wait by it until they decide to come clean it. Definitely recommend this place for food and prices, the customer service could use some improvement. read more

These people that post on here crack me up. First of all, it is a tiny little small diner that gets really super busy very very quickly so if your waitress isn't overly nice to you or takes a bit of time to get to you give them the benefit of the doubt not a 1 star review on yelp. Also if you get there at noon when the place is ready to close down, don't expect a good selection of donuts as they are made fresh in the mornings and they run out quick. Get there before 9 am if you want a decent selection. Every time I have ever been to jolly donut (minimum of 10 times) I eat delicious breakfast foods for way way less than you'd pay anywhere else. The donuts are outstanding and way better than you'll find anywhere else and cheaper too. Yes the place is small. Yes the staff is older and sometimes stressed out so they are not super fast and overly friendly. Doesn't mean they are racists and it doesn't mean they deserve one star on yelp. You won't find a better cheap and delicious breakfast place in sandusky and the old style diner itself makes it worth the trip. Give it a try and give some understanding. read more

The donuts here are indeed jolly! We got 2 dozen to-go this past week while visiting Cedar Point, and there was nothing left but crumbs. Both the cake and yeast styled donuts were equally good. My 6 year old ate SIX glazed yeast donuts - yes, SIX - he liked them so much. I've literally never seen him eat anything with such enthusiasm. I loved the chocolate peanut and the iced chocolate cake donuts. My husband loved the Boston creme. They were all really good. I did hear from some locals that it's crucial to get there early, especially during peak season in July and August, or you'll be left donut-less. There's also a full breakfast and lunch menu, which we haven't tried yet, but would like to. Parking is a little challenging, so make sure you've brushed up on your 10-point turn skills before going, or park behind the donut shop at the Travelodge. Seating inside is limited - think Waffle House on the side of the interstate, so don't bring your party of 15 in there. read more

My family and I planned a trip to Cedar Point for a fun day of thrilling rides before the first day of school began. Needless to say the day was very expensive. We wanted to start the day with a good breakfast and Jolly Donut was the place. Local and family owned diner that has excellent food, exceptional friendly service and prices that you wouldn't expect to find this close to Cedar Point. Family of 5 eating for $20?! Are you serious?! What a breath of fresh air. Most restaurants around the area price gouge and this is not one of them. All around outstanding establishment for breakfast. This place has the best and most affordable breakfast around. The staff is friendly and polite and the food is amazing. You have to get there early if you actually want donuts, because they sell out fast.
