How do I begin? First, I arrived home from vacation and my 87-year-old mother had hired Jonathan construction to put a single 48 inch vanity in her bathroom. She was so proud of herself for doing it on her own. Little did she know she could've had it done for less than a quarter of the cost that Jonathan construction was quoting which was $9000. Again for one vanity installation. I went to my moms the following morning to look at the estimate. Much to my surprise she had already given them $2500. Initial installment of 925 and three days later another $1500. And all this was not a single shred of work done. Needless to say I panicked. The first thing I did was start to look up the company on yelp and then in the contractors licensing board. I found good and bad reviews on yelp. And one dispute in progress on the Contractors Licensing site. I then looked up the address which is a mailbox place. I Google earthed it and called and spoke to them to verify their address. It is indeed a mailbox business. I begin conversations with Jonathan construction. I told the sales person what I had found out about their location and expressed the fact that I thought $9000 was indeed outrages to charge for at the installation of one vanity. He kept explaining that building was behind the address they state as their own. They sent down big alarms to me. He even sent me pictures. From my bad experience. I would suggest you Steer well clear of Jonathan Construction / Triangle Construction or what ever they may call themselves on any given day. I had to oversee the whole project, because it was obvious soon into the contract that they were clueless to basic codes, practices and standards. I paid them a great deal of money, when I probably could have picked up some laborers at Home Depot who could have done the job with the same amount of supervision. They are very secretive about the company and will not answer question regarding their qualifications or their business location. One admin employee would not tell me his full name. I NEVER fall for cold calls over the phone. Except, in this case, I did. I was working from home and got a call from Santa Claus (or so it sounded). "Good Afternoon! This is Jonathan (something) and I've been a contractor and builder in Torrance for over 45 years. I'll be in your area today and I wanted to know what your next home improvement project might be." Pretty soon, he offered to show me "pictures of the pergolas and exterior walls that I've built over my 45-year career" and I agreed to the consultation. 10 minutes later, I got a call from someone claiming to be Jonathan's wife (but sounding about 30) who wanted to verify my address and send someone out. "But I thought Jonathan was going to show me his portfolio of pictures and give me an estimate." Apparently, "Jonathan" is older and no longer goes out into the field. Hmmm. At the appointed time, someone who could've passed as a beeper salesman in the 80s came to my door all fast and flashy. By this time, I knew I had been had. I showed him the area for the wall/pergola and he high-tailed it out of there when I refused to give him my email. "Please just mail the estimate to the home address." I had to follow him to the car to get a business card - which wasn't even printed with his name. No estimate ever arrived. Should I be surprised? read more

Whoever talked them into their phone campaign is probably hiding under a rock right now. I have in the last four days received no less than 3 calls per day from their automated system at my place of employment. They do not offer or advertise business services. Notwithstanding that our premises like most businesses in Southern California, are leased, so even if they did offer business services, they would need to be contacting the leasing company to secure the contract there. I know nothing about the quality of their actual work, this rating is based solely on the fact that they have a poorly administered cold calling system and they have made the choice as a company to ignore the fact that the system they paid for is making numerous, repeated calls to contacts from which they cannot gain business. Any business that ignores the fact that its wasting money on poor lead generation raises the question of their ability to manage other aspects and utilise their time and resources in the most economical and effective way. read more

This is the second time I have used Jonathan Construction. Prior to that, my sister used them. She couldn't recommend them highly enough. I am just as delighted as I was the first time. They have been in business for years and have lots of excellent experience. They are dependable, have good ideas to help in choosing things for renovation. They offer great suggestions for how to make the best use of the money I have to spend on renovation. They are flexible; yes, I changed my mind of some things and they just adjust good-naturedly. After about 15 -20 calls, offering me a free estimate even though I am on the 'Do Not Call' list, I am pretty upset. I have reported every call to the donotcall.gov, and the next time I get a call from Jonathan Construction, I will sue. Why take a chance guys? Fines for each call are up to $41,484 per violation. These have been annoying me with many calls offering their services. In order to get an appointment for any estimate, Jonathan Construction demands both husband and wife to be present, which actually is an stupidity. In these days, it is difficult to actually stop working or doing whatever you're doing to please these guys. However, I relented one time. I had my wife to wait with me a whole day, and no one showed up! We lost the whole day for nothing. Despite telling them not to call me, they continue with this charade. read more

This company is awful! They have been giving my elderly mother the run around for 8 months on $12,000 of work she paid for! Steer clear of this company! My mom has given them numerous opportunities to complete substandard work she paid for on a fixed income. Their representative, Ortela, is a zero in customer service. She has no interest in listening to the customer, instead talks incessantly to shut you down. If you're doing your homework, for roof and wood replacement repairs, and house painting- LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! They will subcontract the work and give nothing but excuses and headaches. It's been 8 months, the wood is STILL not replaced and the house paint is still shoddy and blotted with repatches!! The workers do not show up and leave the work unfinished. They say remodels are stressful, but working with Jonathan Construction was pure pleasure.  My bathroom was super old and had water damage for so long; there was a lot to tear out and rebuild.  They rebuilt it better than I had ever expected and brought everything up to code.  They're meticulous, efficient, and take great care to make it look good, too. They did expert work - very detailed - cleaned up daily and were so nice and pleasant to work with. We are very thrilled with this bathroom, especially because we had no idea it would look so nice...
