Read carefully! As…read moreone of the most active Yelp reviewers on Yelp, I take lot of pride in reviewing a variety of aspects when it comes to reviewing a business. This review is a statement of my own opinion and is only referring to my own experiences with the billing side of this business. Im guessing the dr wont even read this review anyways as the customer experience here is most importantly overlooked here and that will say everything you need to know about this business. I strongly encourage you to read this review closely and judge for yourself as to what is professional or what is not. The billing & client experience here is out right medically morally wrong. Beware! They only seem to care about getting paid and thats it. More concerning is that customers like myself just want billing transparency and don't want to be in a position right before literal surgery to be confronted with additional unclear costs. they are NOT CLEAR about their billing. Imagine the day of surgery, minutes before you go into the surgery room and you are still arguing and unclear of what you owe. Imagine how unsettled and anxious you would feel.... This was AFTER i literally have a voice mail yesterday(saved) from them that explains and expresses exactly what my patient responsibilities are for this procedure. I also had a 3 way call with provider and my ins company the day before reviewing each cost . talk about unclear and unprofessional communication. Yet. Today i was told by the insurance co even that they misquoted me. Crazy to hear over the phone and also they were not fully communicated the coats by the provider. I actually walked Out at my scheduled surgery time because of all the chaos . Heres the full story. One month ago or so I was referred to this oral surgeon to have a tooth extraction and implant put in. I went in weeks ago. Had 360 xray and etc done along with console by dr. The doctor was nice and quite professional, yet everyone and everything else was not. The session seemed rushed and the billing was more rushed and seemed very unclear. I was presented with 2 directions to pursue both financially and medically. So, I requested a formal insurance approval and also advised I would just get a second opinion. This was for 1000s of dollars and I just needed to be safe and sure of my decision. Over the past few weeks, I heard nothing from the group even though I scheduled and booked a surgery date. Until than, I just wanted to KNOW what my actual patient responsibility was for the surgery. I called and requested an approval and was told over and over that they did not receive it. So IMPORTANT i called yesterday and spoke to Marie who is the office mgmt. she advised me thot they still didn't receive anything from my dental insurance co. So i was told she would do it at days end. Everyone called out sick yesterday. So I thought why WAIT. I have surgery actually scheduled for Tomorrow. Why is it taking so long to get actual clear numbers. So I called my insurance company right after that call. I set up a 3 way call with provider, ins co and myself. I was not allowed to speak jointly so I WAS told to be put on hold during each medical code. Basically the provider and insurance company went over each code and cost while i was put on hold. Than the insurance company came back each time on same call while i was on hold explaining each covered cost. Literally line item and on hold than told than back on hold etc. hr plus call. I than hours after I RECEIVED a phone call from provider and voicemail saying what my responsibility was financially. Agreeing and reiterating what i was told by insurance company re my costs.i showed up to my surgery 30 min early.i was presented a bill for a significant amount more. I immediately complained that was not the agreed amount. I than had an argument at the counter. So I called the insurance company again and pleaded for their help. I walked right back into the office literally during my surgery scheduled time where I asked the insurance company to once again speak directly with the provider the office manager asked for a phone call from the insurance company and then proceeded to walk into the back office. I could literally hear them discussing the matter in the other room and I sat there for a good 15 minutes or so with no communication no nothing. Talk about a customer experience would you want going to surgery feeling like that? Would you proceed forward with this group in all my years? I've never seen this degree of unprofessionalism. so I ended up walking out I since then called a couple other providers given the insurance billing codes and I've already saved a tremendous amount of money just pursuing another avenue. I can already tell that the customer experience feels different.

Marie and Theresa should consider job's that do not involve customer service or insurance. Neither…read moreaccept any accountability, instead, I am blamed. Theresa especially is very unhelpful and rude. Neither know how to file an insurance claim (at least mine) immediately after services are rendered. Instead, they will wait months until they finally do, then they will expect you to do all the follow up and leave you with a nightmare on your hands. The will lie to you. Yes, they lied to me and I have proof. They will tell you one thing, but later find out they did not do what they told you. They told me my claim was accepted, then later they told me it wasn't. My insurance provider stated a claim was never sent. Who is lying? Marie and Theresa or MetLife Dental?

I've been coming here for my regular dental work for years and I've never had anything major done…read more 2 years ago one of the dentist here told me I needed a deep cleaning, sure no problem. With my deep cleaning they told me that my insurance will cover cleanings for 2 years following the procedure. For 2 years I arrived for my scheduled, insurance covered, maintence. Every time i checked in and out they told me there was no charge. Last month I arrived for my scheduled cleaning. When i arrived the receptionist told me there was a charge for my appointment, I told her to look into it and that if my insurance didnt cover it I would skip the appointment, as it was just a cleaning. Before being called into the room I approached the receptionist to check to make sure the cleaning was covered by my insurance, she assured me it was. After my cleaning I came out and she told me there was indeed a charge. She assured me that it was her mistake and that the office manager would reach out to me. After not hearing anything I reached out to the office to leave a message with the office manager, again i was assured they would call back. After a week of no communication I called back and was told she would absolutely call me back. A week after that I recieved a bill in the mail for not only the cleaning charge, but 2 years of charges for the cleanings they told me were covered by my insurance. I called the office back to speak to the office manager and was assured again that they would call me back. That was 4 weeks ago. -Amanda P. Agoura office patient. *****As i said, no call back after 4 weeks and numerous attempts. No response to email either. what now dr. Zak?

Down the street from where we were staying was Agoura Dental so I called and they were kind enough to squeeze us in later in the day! We arrived at the scheduled time, were greeted by a super friendly woman behind the desk named Frances, filled out some paper work, and waited briefly. My wife was then greeted by an equally kind and helpful woman named Amanda and brought her into the room to see the Dr. All she wanted was to have the sharp edge smoothed out before our journey and Dr. Choroomi accommodated her beautifully. My wife was in and out in no time. And ... AND... when we went to pay we were told, "no problem, there's no charge for this!" Whaaaat?!?? "Yes, Dr Choroomi said no charge." That doesnt happen these days, no matter how fast and easy it is! THANK YOU Agoura Dental for being so kind and accommodating, we so appreciate all of you!

Dr. Chooromi, after a very brief examination, quickly suggested a bit more work than was really necessary, imo. He was pleasant enough as well, but I was instantly turned off by his strong halitosis... Something I think a dentist would be well aware of. That alone was enough for me to look elsewhere for a second opinion.
