Eventually, my ABS sensor and wheel bearing failed, so I made an appointment to have the necessary repairs done. When I scheduled the appointment, I specifically noted that my car was clicking when turning left. That concern was also documented on my invoice. I picked up my car after spending approximately $1,600 on repairs. When I checked out, the employee at the counter told me they had been unable to drive my vehicle because it was not drivable at the time. I completely understood that. What I do NOT understand is why my vehicle was not test-driven after the repairs were completed to make sure the original clicking complaint had been addressed. I had to bring my car back a second time because the clicking was still there. I was then told that they "did not hear the clicking" during my previous visit. That statement is incredibly frustrating because the employee who checked me out specifically told me that my vehicle had NOT been driven. So how could they have determined whether the clicking was still present? I was subsequently charged another $790 to repair the loud clicking, including $566 in labor alone. The issue turned out to be the CV joint. If a vehicle has a bad CV joint producing a loud clicking noise during a sharp turn, wouldn't that be something you would reasonably expect to discover by actually test driving the vehicle? Why am I being charged labor twice for an issue that I specifically reported BEFORE the original repairs and that could have been identified had the vehicle been properly test-driven after the first repair? After the second visit, my son picked up my car and immediately noticed that it was not driving correctly. I told my son to turn around and take it right back for a third time. Yes, A THIRD TIME! At that point, I was left wondering whether the vehicle had even been test-driven again before I was told it was ready. What makes this even more frustrating is the note they added to my invoice stating, "The click did not stand out the last visit but now it does." To me, that feels like an attempt to create documentation after the fact rather than take responsibility for the fact that the original complaint was documented and the vehicle apparently was not properly test-driven. I have never been someone who complains about service, but this experience genuinely disgusted me. I work at a large hospital and had actually recommended Firestone to coworkers and even advertised the company on our employee board. After this experience, I absolutely regret doing that. I am sharing this review because I don't want someone else to spend thousands of dollars and then find themselves paying hundreds more for a problem they specifically reported from the beginning. My advice: be extremely cautious and get a second opinion before authorizing major repairs here. I feel like I was charged twice for labor because a problem I reported initially was not properly investigated or verified after the first repair.

I get very anxious when something goes wrong or I don't understand something about my car and the staff at Jimmy's is always patient and gracious to answer and explain, even if I ask silly questions. (And I do ask silly questions - a lot of them.) Jimmy's mechanics keep my car in good shape and help me have peace about its upkeep and maintenance. Jimmy's staff does great mechanical work and they really care about their customers. The Customer Service reps (at the desk) are really great, they work with me regarding appointments and the repairs that I need. I am so thankful to be a Jimmy's Automotive customer for several years and I'll keep coming back. I recommend them highly.

We said "we just need it running". One week later, we get a thorough list of things to fix, including "polishing the headlights" all with a sum total of more than we paid for the car ($4500 on a 2004 car that was worth $4000). That should have been our clue to go elsewhere, but we trusted them and moved forward with the critical repairs, unaware of any risks. In their defense, they did say it could also be the gasket, but we do not know what that means or what it costs. After spending $2000 we learn that yes, the gasket was blown and that would cost $3000 to fix. (meaning, if they had their way, we would have spent $7500 on a car that was worth $4000.) If we had been made aware of this potentially LARGE risk, we would not have approved of the initial repairs, we would have just sold the car for parts. But instead we were stuck with paying $2k for a car that wouldn't run or adding another $3k for a car that still would need a few things. They claim to excel in customer service; however I do not feel confident in their motives. To me, good customer service involves working together with the customer to find a solution that makes the most sense, and helping the customer make the best decision while understanding the risks. It's not selling a cake for 2000 people when you're only expecting 50 guests. We took the car elsewhere to complete the repair, not because of the price, but because we didn't feel we could trust them to provide information for us to make a decision appropriate for the age of our car.

A very polite man named Chris was there when I arrived and took some info, and then presented me with pricing. $240 to check my check engine light, and then, because I told him I'd just purchased the car, $150 do "do a really in depth check". I declined the in depth, but it left me a bad taste in my mouth. I called another mechanic on the way out who quoted me $189 to check the light. I called Chris back to ask if they'd match that and he immediately replied "no ma'am". No problem. I'll come and grab the car and go elsewhere - I was already feeling like I was going to be overcharged. ETA. I received a call a couple of hours later, stating they would match the cost that the other shop quoted. The owner, Todd, is apparently in today, and Chris had spoken to him about this and he wanted to honor the other quote. Honestly, when I drove up to this shop I was really excited. I grew up country, in the country. This place is country - there are roosters crowing, and a good ol' boy mechanic listening to George Straight. I'm down with that. Upgrading my review to four stars, and will update at the end of the day...fingers are crossed that I found a mechanic I can trust.
