A solid coffee shop in Pasadena. I came on a Saturday morning and there was a jazz band playing. The shop itself is spacious and they have outdoor and indoor seating. As for parking, their lot is pretty small so your best bet is street parking. The staff here are super friendly and the drinks are prepared quickly. One of my most favorite coffee shops in town. It is a bit pricey for me to come on the regular so it's a treat for me when I do go. The first time I tried this place I had been cutting back on sugar and caffeine so I just ordered a decaf latte and didn't add any sugar and was quite surprised to find it so good! Nowadays I do get their regular lattes and don't mind it without sugar. Sometimes I buy their coffee beans to make coffee at home or gift them to my friends. Just tried Jones coffee roasters for the first time this morning. I wasn't even going to go by, because I wasn't sure if they had outdoor seating. So I called and the woman on the phone was so kind and helpful. I ended up coming in they had a lovely outdoor seating area, very socially distanced due to the pandemic. The vibes here were very cheery, relaxed, and soothing. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I had a basic latte with oat milk. The coffee tasted delicious, it was perfectly balanced, and the oat milk was a great addition. The people next to me were eating chocolate croissants and they smelled and looked so good. Jones has been here since before all that, when independent coffee shops were a rarity. Fast-forward to present, Jones has stood the test of time. They took over the old Buster's ice cream by the train stop in South Pas and also the coffee hut on Fair Oaks. All three serve the same superb coffee and the same baristas rotate through all three locations so you get the same friendly experience wherever you go. This location on Raymond - the original - is still my most frequented. I don't come here because I have to - I come because I love it. Great things about Jones: - The coffee, for starters. They roast it in house and it's some of the best around. It's strong and flavorful with a distinct difference between the blends. When they're roasting you can smell it from a block away. I personally adore the smell. - The service. All the baristas are super cool, and they're good at making drinks, which is especially noteworthy given their steady flow of customers. Whether it's slow or busy, the quality stays the same. - The seating. They've always had good indoor seating and in Covid times they expanded the seating into half of the front parking lot. The restrictions are gone but the added seating remains and it's a wonderful addition, especially on a nice day or if you come with a group. - The location. First came here after a very descriptive and persuasive recommendation from a friend. Here is a place that can easily be misunderstood as a warehouse of a hodgepodge of misfit and unused furniture. But when it comes to coffee shops what is bad for one can easily be accepted as character for another. You definitely won't get that classy feel like some of the fancy Pasadena cafes but you'll most certainly be delighted with the taste and quality of the coffee served here.
