I have had a few issues recently with food having already gone bad once I've brought it home including some meat that already smelled rancid even before the best by date and a grab-and-go meal that had mold growing in it, so just try your best to check how things look as you're placing them in your cart (and most of the time, whoever has checked me out has been on top of checking the quality of my items for me too)- most things in Native Sun are fresh goods, so it's understandable that that type of thing can happen. And when I brought in the moldy item, they were super accommodating with letting me replace it, even without my receipt! Super appreciative that they care about their customers, the local community, and have just created such a lovely shopping environment that it actually makes grocery shopping enjoyable :)

Not in a bad way, but in that unmistakable health-food-store aroma that tells you there are herbs, oils, supplements, organic everything, and probably someone blending wheatgrass in the back with spiritual conviction. I walked in thinking I'd grab a couple of health bars or maybe a smoothie, and suddenly I found myself in what felt like a live-action documentary about modern hippie culture. Real hippies. I'm talking long dreads, natural fabrics, calm serene smiles, and an energy that says they own a crystal collection and know each crystal by name. The vibe inside was amazing. Everyone looked like they were on their own personal wellness quest, floating around the aisles with purpose, shopping carts full of things I didn't even know existed. I felt like I needed to level up spiritually just to stand near the kombucha section. And the café area had this cozy, earthy coolness to it that almost convinced me to sit down and contemplate the meaning of life over a smoothie bowl. The whole experience was wild in the best possible way. Grassroots Natural Market wasn't just a store that day. I found myself being more polite than the staff, who maintained a very unfriendly demeanor throughout the interaction. I don't take it personally, but stores like Dinosaur, Tha Moa, RD Market, and Lotte consistently offer much friendlier service with staff who understand how to treat customers. At Dragon's, the owner also works as the cashier, and the checkout experience felt tense and uncomfortable. The woman working Saturday night the 15th shift was particularly unprofessional. Unfortunately, I will not be returning under any circumstances. The Skinny Vietnamese lady, I think she's also the owner. She is significantly friendlier and more welcoming than the rest of the staff. Despite working very hard, she still treats every customer kindly and respectfully. That is what true leadership looks like. The team could benefit from following her example.
