I have not been to this sandwich shop for a year at least. The sandwiches and salads have always been good. The reason I stopped going was that it is so dirty. I don't think the front of the restaurant has had a good cleaning in many years. In addition the dining area is used as storage for junk. Makes me wonder if the Health Dept has ever inspected them. And if they have maybe it's the good old boys that let that stuff slide. I'd go back if they cleaned things up. read more

I have lived in this neighborhood for 20 years and I am visiting this place for the first time last month. Since that time I have been back three more times. This is a family and business and literally this is that place where everybody knows your name. I have seeing the same faces in there more than once in my four visits this past month, and they recognize you when you walk in the door. There's always a lot of chatter in the dining room as it seems that many of the patrons know each other either from this place or from the neighborhood. I have only sampled the breakfast food so I can't comment on the lunch per se however I am no I am a pain in the neck. I order egg white western omelette with a side of ham or crispy bacon. These guys use real eggs so egg white omelette takes a bit of doing for them. They don't complain. I offered to allow them to charge me the pain in the neck surcharge but they declined. I've seen some of the lunch food coming off the counter and it all looks pretty standard. This is not the Taj Mahal and this is not Ruth Chris, it's a local sandwich shop in a moderately dingy strip mall that could probably use a facelift on the inside and the outside however, if you're in the market for very reasonably priced and well cooked food, this place can not be beat. Decided to try this place out because it's close to work. I got the steak in a sack, unfortunately it wasn't good, it was missing flavor and after eating only half I decided not to even attempt to finish the rest . The sweet tea was decent but that about it, maybe the breakfast is better but I doubt I will come back. I paid $9.55 for a steak in a sack and a large drink definitely not worth the money at all. The service was slow and there's a lot going on inside the business, it's clustered and the employees aren't friendly. read more

My husband and I randomly stopped in on our way home to Destin and we were blown away. I got the special sandwich and it was amazing. Not overly impressed but it was decent. Worth a try if you're in the area and would prefer to support a small business over the subway next door. First, the "steak" in a sack should be called ground beef in a sack. But, it was well seasoned. So if you're okay with ground beef in a sack go for it. Chicken salad pita was good in texture, but it tasted a bit sweet, like they used miracle whip or something in it. Not a flavor that I'm too fond of personally but to each their own. Prices were great though. 2 sandwiches, a large drink, and an order of fries for $15. Pretty good if you ask me. Finally, I did NOT take any stars off for this, but the customers are not my crowd. The lady who ranted about her patty melt having onions sounds rude. If she had asked clearly she would have gotten it. Instead she bashes a business for not reading her mind. I have visited this place way way back when it was Melissa's. The owners ex wife's name. Not too sure if Ashley is the new wife or not but I can see why the ex wife left. The owner is the type of person that would be aggravated if he had to drive to Tallahassee to pick up winnings from a million dollar lottery ticket. Just a I hate life type of person. As for the food, it does provide a good bowel cleanse a few hours after consumption. Hostile work environment. Tips don't actually go to anyone working there, just the owners.

Very cheap establishment, they cheat employees on hours and insist they did not. Refuse to pay employees what they are owed. They keep ALL tips and have a jar so people can tip, assuming they are tipping the girls but they keep everything. They take 30 mins a day for a lunch you are NOT able to take. They say they are a family establishment, but after seeing the true colors it's the opposite. Very disappointing considering what they portray to be. I dont advice anyone to give them business. read more

My wife and I stopped here on the way to Tallahassee. Prior comments concerning the owner's terse demeanor are overreactive. He's a hard working man trying to make a business successful and uses a down-to-earth approach to accomplish that goal. Our experience was excellent as the owner, his wife and Mother-in-Law (I think) hustled to provide exemplary food for us (and stream of other patrons) from the time we entered until exit. The owner even thanked us for coming and offered a free soft drink refill. Kindness begets kindness so exhibit some compassion to individuals in service positions and be rewarded in kind. Rude service called ahead to see if they had Patty Melts on the menu. They said no but they could make it. So we get there and ordered my Patty Melt. My boyfriend and I visited Ashley's place for lunch on a Thursday. The service was amazing and the food was really good too! I had the western omelet which included onions, peppers, cheese and ham. Customer service from the owner of the restaurant is terrible! He will argue with his customers and cause a scene regardless of who is around and whether he is right or wrong. For such a small restaurant that is "barely getting by", he shouldn't chase his few customers away. He complains that he has not raised his prices since 2007 and expects customers to be pleased to hear that or believe it even!
