Food (2 of 2 stars): All the sides were really good and the quality of the meat was definitely there! Service (2 of 2 stars): Servers were on top of it and I like that they cooked the meats for us. They were really quick with the small plates, topping off our water, and other drinks! They often checked in on us too. Ambiance (1 of 1 star): The place is decorated like you're in a night market in South Korea. Music was also on point which set the vibes as well. I'd definitely go again here if I'm craving KBBQ and in Koreatown!

Hidden inside a building of K Town, Jongro Gopchang is an iconic kbbq spot for authentic korean grill and authentic dishes. The place is busy and packed yet the service is still excellent. Our server helps us grill the meat to medium rare, slightly crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is my BEST kbbq experience so far as I didn't feel rushed throughout the whole meal. My bf has been here a few times and he also spoke highly of their food. *Large Beef Platter Highly recommend this beef platter if you are not sure which part of meat you like. It comes with five different cuts: 1. Rib eye: fatty, juicy, intense beefy flavor; heavenly at first few bites but feel greasy soon. 2. Brisket: thin sliced, rich beefy taste, good to dip into soybean paste and wrap into lettuce. 3. Skirt steak: my favorite cut; not as beefy as the previous two, but the fat ratio is lower while the meat remains tender. After grilling the first three cuts, they switch it to charcoal grill, giving the meat a smoky aroma. 4. Kalbi (marinated short rib): our favorite meat. it is very tender, juicy and bursting with sweet and savory flavors. 5. Marinated chuck: from the shoulder of a cow. served in cubes; not as tender as kalbi but still very delicious. *Kimchi Pancake The pancake is fried to perfection as the bottom is soaked in oil. It is also not too spicy. The sweet and savory dipping sauce is a great addition to the pancake.

If you like Gopchang(intestines) then I highly recommend this place. It was one of the best Gopchangs I had. The atmosphere was nice and cocktails/mocktails were also pretty good. The service was not so great though. It could be because it was busy and we were all the way in the back at the corner but we had to ask for the spoons, bowls and the bill a few times.

A busy Korean barbeque spot located in the heart of KTown of New York City. The place was a bit difficult to find even though KTown is only one block of restaurants because it is not advertised on the outside and located on the fifth floor of a building with two slow and tiny elevators. I actually walked up and down the block three times and missed it. However, you soon will learn it's where the big crowd is trying to fit in through the entrance while there's a long line in the small lobby waiting to get into the elevators. The building itself is a bit of a safety hazard. Once I got into the restaurant, I got even more stressed because there were more crowds waiting for a table. The restaurant unfortunately does not take reservations. Thankfully, my friends arrived earlier and got a table. The bad news was that 14 of us were sharing two grills meant for a party of 8. There was no wiggle room to put my plate down and I was so close to the grill, the oil splattered on my face every now and then. The waiter also missed some of our orders several times and we had to remind him. But they were friendly and helpful in keeping our grill clean between each round of meats. We separated our party in half, but both sides ordered pretty much the same things: Seafood Pancake, Ddukbokki Rice Cake, Bulgogi Cold Buckwheat Noodle, Marinated Beef Platter with Beef Small Intestine, Large Pork Platter. My favorite is honestly the complimentary corn cheese that comes with each platter. The cheese was so stringy and tasty. But all the other food was not bad at all, in fact, they were delicious! I would definitely go back for the marinated beef and the small intestine was so well seasoned that it didn't even taste like small intestines to me! The appetizers were all pretty standard. And don't forget the unlimited banchans, a bunch of pickled small dishes such as kimchi, radish, broccoli, and etc. There was also a separate mini fire for the classic steamed egg which I love. And most importantly, fresh lettuce which I use for wrapping meat, radish, and sauce with. Not only is their food menu extensive, they have a lot of drinks too! From beer to wine to soju to cocktails and mocktails. I ordered a ginger breeze mocktail and it was just what I needed in the hot steaming restaurant. The drink is bubbly and not too sweet and overall very refreshing! The vibe in the restaurant is very loud, but warm. The decorations are very antique and woody. My friends and I split the bill evenly and it was about $70 per person including tip and tax. A bit expensive to my liking since I usually eat AYCE KBBQ in Queens for about $35-$40 per person, but it's absolutely reasonable for city prices and the quality of the meats.

We love all the Jongro restaurants, and I would recommend trying this place. The menu is a little bit different from the second floor since they serve different kinds of intestines. We ordered the beef platter combo with beef large intestine, and it was really good. I'm not fond of intestines, but this one I loved it. P.S I forgot to take a picture of the large intestine

Pro tip: Jongro Gopchnag is on the 5th floor and serves the same menu as Jongro with less wait! They also serve the intestine if you want, but we stuck to KBBQ. When you first walk in, this looks like a classic Jongro sister restaurant. They also have a large bar to the right when you walk in that serves cocktails. A good place to grab a drink while you wait. Jongro will always be my favorite KBBQ. All their meats are so solid, you get huge portions, and delicious bonchon that they will refill as many times as you ask. The only negative - the white rice was very overcooked. We ordered the marinated galbi ribs and the pork sampler platter. This was a huge amount of food for two people, but everything was delicious! Getting the sampler platters is a great way to try all the cuts. **They also serve cheesy corn and rice cakes bonchon that the regular Jongro doesn't bring. They didn't have the onion / salad as they do at the regular Jongro. Overall, Jongro floor 5 is the best kept secret in KTown!

My absolute favorite place for grilled intestines! I'm pretty picky about how small intestines are cooked - if it's not cooked properly it ends up being a chewy gamey tasting mess in your mouth. The staff here cook the small intestine till it's perfectly crisp and savory with no gamey taste which makes it so very addicting to eat! My friends and I usually order their Assorted Gopchang plate, a bowl of cold noodles and their yookhoe if it's just two of us and we're hungry, for parties of three or more we get the same plus an extra order of large or small intestine, and a bbq item (usually just pork belly). I love that they play old school Kpop in the background! It can be a little pricey depending on what you order, but it's so worth it for the quality! We usually arrive around 5:30 to avoid the dinner rush! Check out my foodsta @chiuventure for a closer look and more details of my dining experience here as well as other establishments in NYC and around the world!

Very tasty and luxe kbbq !! Meat was clearly high quality, kimchi was very tasty and had a nice texture and flavor, and the kimchi stew really hit the spot. They cooked the brisket for us on the traditional nonstick grill, but switched to a charcoal grill for the short rib and the smoky flavor really came through we also got the large intestines, spicy style and they were so flavorful and crispy on the outside but warm and pillowy on the inside The service is S tier-- we were aided by maybe 5-6 team members in total, they constantly rotated and cleared away used napkins, cooked and served the meat, and checked in on us. (I saw that usually there's a long wait and super crowded--we came at like 9pm on a Tuesday, no wait and super good service) And the ambiance is cute!! They went all in on the decor so it really does feel like you are in the Jongro world, the stoves are well designed too so it never gets too smoky in there. -2 points because it was a bit on the pricier side and my soju cocktail I got (Jongro ice tea) just tasted like grape soju, not like a cocktail or mixed drink

My very first Korean gopchang experience at @jongro.gopchang ! The grilled intestines and innards were as yummy and oily as I thought they would be. Definitely a guilty pleasure but I can understand why so many people like it, and I'd probably be craving this from time to time now as well! A platter of gopchang, an order or pork belly, and a plate of japchae fed all 5 of us pretty well!

    Jen L.

Pretty decent kbbq for what it is but definitely pricy. For the 7 of us we ordered one large beef plate, one marinated beef plate, mixed mushrooms, and an add on of the prime brisket. I appreciated that all the mixed bbq plates came with an additional gopchang order, which we got the stir fried gopchang. The gopchang was nice and chewy, and I loved the savory sweet sauce it was stir fried in. This was probably my favorite part. The corn cheese also came with little rice cakes which was a pleasant touch and gave a nice chew. Service was really good! The staff kept a close watch to when we were doing with each meats in order to swap the grill for the next set. We never felt rushed while eating and our server cooked all the meat for us. Unfortunately, the meat quality was pretty subpar in my opinion. The brisket was super fatty and not flavorful. All the beef blended together and wasn't very juicy. I was also disappointed by the lack of banchan variety. There was only kimchi and a sad mac salad and marinated radish. The restaurant was definitely loud. It was pretty hard to hear my friends next to me. The meal ended up being $98/person, which is definitely pricy. I would maybe come back but really just for the gopchang. For solid kbbq, it wouldn't be too hard to find an alternative somewhere else in nyc.

I usually go to gopchang story and never visited here before. Thought I'd give this place a try. Turns out that it is more authentic Korean restaurant here than anywhere else in the city. Food was good and the guy who cooked our gopchang was very friendly and attentive. He refilled our banchan several times for us and made sure our gopchang is cooked to perfection. The ramyun at the end was perfect for us to continue drinking our soju! 2 of us had 4 bottles of soju and an order of assorted gopchang and ramyun, we left full and happy drunk. They had staffs on the first floor, guiding people to 2nd floor or 5th floor which was nice. Some female staffs seemed a bit sassy and rude, but overall it was a good experience!

There's always a long wait at Jongro but it's so delicious!!! I just wish that they would accept reservations and/or at least have a digital waitlist instead of having to wait in line and wait in person. Keep in mind that jongro gopchang does not have a bar like jongro does on the other floor. It's technically 2 different restaurants under the same roof and I think it's the same owner. The ambiance here is friendly and loud, similar to a Bar or tavern. The banchan they include is generous and delicious!! Really good value here for high quality meats. It's more affordable than the other kbbq places in ktown in my opinion- and it's cheaper AND better! I definitely would go more often if the waits were more manageable. Even on a weeknight, there's a wait. It's frustrating since I'd love to go more

Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. Unfortunately I didn't come with a big enough group to try everything, but I did get to try their kimchi fried rice ($17), perilla oil noodles ($18), and hojok galbi ($56) from their lunch menu. The meal came with a simple set of banchan-- some kimchi that had a good salty-sour balance, and an addicting sweet potato salad that was almost dessert-like. These banchan ended up pairing really well with everything we ordered, and we had to keep on asking for refills. I almost never order kimchi fried rice at a restaurant because it's something that I can make at home. However, I was glad I got to try it here. The bacon added so much smoky flavor and I was impressed at how chewy the rice kernels were. The perilla oil noodles were very refreshing. They came with a savory but light sauce. I really loved the combination of shallots, jalapenos, and seaweed that added so much texture and freshness to the dish. Finally, the galbi! Yum! The beef was so tender and the sauce almost reminded me of those microwave salisbury steak meals, but in the best way possible. The salad on the side was so good with the beef (+sweet potato salad = heaven). The chopped roasted peanuts added almost a Southeast Asian vibe to the dish. If I had to find something to complain about, I would say that the peppers on top weren't spicy enough.

Loved that the dish also came with some greens and had a sweet and tangy dressing that also paired nicely with the galbi. Perilla oil noodles -- also very delicious, i personally rlly like the flavor of perilla seeds. I thought the noodles were cooked perfectly, im not the biggest fan of buckwheat noodles, but these noodles didnt stick together and was slightly on the harder side vs very chewy and sticky. I thought the dish would be spicy but surprisingly there was little to no spice. I thought this dish was so light and delicious. I know buckwheat noodles are meant to be eaten cold, but i wish it was served warm. Def coming back here again and reordering all 3 but also trying some of the other dishes; these were enough for a party of 3. Make sure to make a resy, it can get busy!

They have a variety of the standard fare Korean options at reasonable prices. We tried the ddukbokki and bulgolgi dupbap which were both good. The portion sizes were on the bigger size and the ddukbokki were giant. I do wish the ddukbokki was a little less watery but overall tasted fine. The bulgolgi was pretty standard for what I'd expect. Overall a solid option in the area if you don't want to wait for a long queue outside of the other popular spots.

Seafood Pancake: Great pick. Crispy on the outside and packed with seafood inside. Beef Belly & Mala Cream Noodle Soup: Loved this one. Udon with tender beef and baby octopus... so good!!! Spicy Braised Pork Rib Stew: Rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The highlight for me was the raw marinated crab. I spotted it on the wall menu and immediately had to order it. It's rare to find in the city! And honestly, this was way better than BCD's. So flavorful. Only complaint... the banchan portions are small and not a lot of variety. Other than that, I really enjoyed my meal and I'd definitely recommend this spot.

The servers kept things moving but with very minimal interference and no extra visits; we would have liked a little more attention when we finished some of the banchan and kind of expected they would be replenished, but we certainly were fine without it. And the entrees were delicious and even with other tables almost on top of each other it never felt crowded due to partitions that I saw them remove for some larger groups needing tables "together", and I never felt part of someone else's dinner convo. Presentation was amazing and food was delicious - Soon Tofu Soup with seafood for me, which arrived bubbling like a cauldron. It came with a raw egg that you crack into the soup and let it cook to your level of doneness. Hubs got hot stone bibimbap and as we all know the crispy rice is the best part of it... it's just tough to separate it from the actual stone dish so you can eat it, especially if you wait until it cools and fuses. If I was there with more stomach space I wanted to try the galbi, and in fact there's a weekday lunch combo that could facilitate that.

They advertised themselves as having the best katsu in NYC and they may just be right. With our order it came with a bunch of side dishes. Kimchi, Marconi salad, and mashed potatoes, and others. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. There were just a couple of things that kept this from being a full 5 stars. My 5 year old was required to order an entrée. We were planning to order one anyway, but I still found it a bit unusual. Despite those minor disappointments, we had a wonderful experience. The food and service really stood out, and I would definitely bring visiting friends and family here.
