Loved the concept of an eat in speciality grocery store. They don't have this wear I'm from but it's genius! The area where you choose food and where you eat is more separated than Woorijip's space, so it's less crowded! There is a microwave in the dining area to heat up your food. I went for dinner with a friend at 6pm. There wasn't many options left of the mealsets. I did appreciate the time stamps on the offerings, although some of them had 6pm yet wasn't warm at all. What it lacks in Woorijip's homeyness and nostalgia, it makes up for in quality and variety. Vegetarian options are somewhat limited, but if you're a "chill" vegetarian like myself, ignoring the shellfish in kimchi opens up quite a few more items like kimchi fried rice. Found my new favorite spot for Korean comfort food! This place is set up perfectly for a quick grab-and-go meal with a huge variety of soups, kimbap, poke bowls, banchan - the list goes on and on! I tried the Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap bowl and it was delicious - really comforting and hit the spot. I love that they have microwaves available if you want to heat your food up right there. Just a heads up: it gets pretty busy during the weekday lunch rush. There is one long communal table and a few smaller ones, so you might have to share space or time it right! This spot is a little farther away (off 35th St.), so it's much quieter. When comparing the two spots, Everydaily was just ok. Everydaily offered limited food options towards the end of the day - most of the food is already gone by 6 pm, which was disappointing and very different from my usual experience at Woorijip. Woorijip usually has plenty of food available in the evenings. I did enjoy what I picked out - japchae noodles and sausage kimbap. They were both delicious!! I stopped by with two friends during prime weekday lunch time. We all grabbed our items, paid and went to the back dining area to look for a table. The space was so crowded but thankfully there was an empty table as soon as we stopped in. The lunch boxes were tasty but a bit cold, so make sure to heat them up before you start eating! The food seems freshly made everyday and taste-wise the quicker you eat it the better, but nonetheless it still does the job, and they have a wide variety of food. I got the tteokbokki and kimchi jeon (pancake), which were both good within a couple hours of purchase, moderately spicy imo. On their own I don't think it's enough to make me full so I consider it more like side dishes, but they do have other more substantial meals there like rice bowls and noodles (I also want to try their kimbap next time). Saw reels on social media; learned from a staff member that they've been open around 2 mos. There's a coffee counter; then in the middle are the food area and cashier. On shelves are varieties of meal options - pick complete bento boxes with sides and rice, and bowls; or mix-and-match separate items like sausages, fried rice, korean chicken, kimbaps, banchans, croquettes, etc. Was hard to choose so decided to get a few to share and taste. Paid and went to the back where there's ample seating and microwaves for heating up (instructions posted). There's a station set-up for trash, etc and a sink. In the box: Beef patty was a little sweet; crab croquette was very creamy inside; with purple rice and egg. Some liked the Korean blood sausage - doesn't have a strong flavor, but dry so ate it with pickled veggies. Mackerel has some bones. The tonkatsu is the only item cooked fresh after ordering. They said 20min-wait and that was accurate; and brought to our table. It is quite large, so for at least 2 people (my son took 2/3 of it and was enough). With rice, (sweet) corn soup, cabbage salad, mac salad, kimchi and a long hot pepper. I like the idea of no-fuss, ready, quick meals at good prices. Seeing how the place is- clean, organized, helpful staff- we will most likely return. Restroom available. I was so hyped to come here however felt that even with the "lower" prices the portion size you're getting is not worthwhile. I'd personally pay a few dollars more to feel a bit more full. Their tech is also a bit questionable-I had the receipt texted to me however as I was walking out and checking my phone, never received it so I had to walk back and request them to print it out for me. Every time I come here, it's sooo hard not to grab one of everything! I always walk out with at least 5 trays. In my most recent visit, I chose the crispy shrimp platter which came with purple rice and kimchi. The first time I ever got this dish, it was somewhat warm but this time the dish was cold. I went home and later pan fried the shrimp which made it instantly better. I also got bulgogi bibimbap which I've been super obsessed with lately I buy multiple trays at the same time and store them in the fridge for lunch later in the week. Shoutout to Sophia, the barista in the front, for excellent service! She's usually the lone soldier up front and really delivers when it's the lunch rush. I liked the variety in the box and how you were able to sample a bit of everything. I also liked that they gave you purple rice as part of the set! I came earlier in the day, but surprisingly, the chicken was still crispy even after microwaving it, to my surprise. Although the portion is a little small for the price, I'd say I'd come back for a quick to-go meal! Considering that the $ can add up after buying other side dishes. They offer a variety of lunch boxes for a great value - I tried both the spicy pork and the teriyaki salmon and they were both very good. You can either eat them at room temperature or you can heat them up in the back. They also sell their banchan individually - my favorite is the dried squid albeit it's a little pricey at $3 for a tiny container. Their tonkatsu is dine in only and is massive. It's definitely enough for 2 people to share (or leftovers for later). They make it fresh to order so it's hot and crispy when it comes out. The tonkatsu sauce is really good as well and pairs nicely with the potato salad. But I came for the donkatsu which is dine in only. The staff said it might take 20 minutes to come out which meant they make it fresh! I was given a table number and found a table in their dining area. There were tables that seat 2-4 people and also a giant communal style table in the middle. The whole set comes with a pork cutlet, a few side dishes, small salad, small bowl of white rice and cream of corn soup (I think). The cutlet was crispy and fried to perfection. Not to mention it was piping hot but I still ate a bite right away. The sauce is was paired with complemented it perfectly. I was also pleasantly surprised by the soup as I wasn't expecting it to be so sweet, savory and creamy all in one. It was some good soup. Honestly one set is probably enough to fill two people up as I was only able to get through 3/4th of the cutlet before calling it quits. I wanted a quick and filling bite to eat before heading to my hotel and we saw this aesthetically pleasing storefront. When we walked inside, my mom and I were greeted by a kind worker who told us we were just after the lunch rush so there weren't too many options. There were enough for me! They had various options of Korean food, in portions around the store. They had kimbap, poke, bowls with various veggies (that you could add rice to!), fried rice, chicken, and so much more. Each container is labeled with when it was packed, when it has to be thrown away, and the name of the dish. They have a very cute place to eat in the back, with microwaves. And the (very nice!) man working there let me microwave my rice before I took my food to go (with a reminder not to microwave plastic!). Now to the food - the shrimp fried rice was simple yet flavorful. I can't even begin to describe the flavors but just know that for me, sometimes fried rice seems heavy yet somehow not filling. They only had half the take out/packaged foods laid out, so we just ordered the tonkatsu set ($17.99, only available for dine-in) while we waited for them to finish setting up. Took about another 20-30min for them to fully put all the food out, so I would suggest coming a little after opening if you want to look through all their options. We bought the salmon set, soy garlic chicken, tuna kimbap, and shrimp fried rice on the side. Overall, the food was nothing special. Was told that this is a new trendy spot so gave it a shot post workout nearby and was pleasantly surprised. Cafeteria style location where there are various prepackaged meals and drinks in addition to the option of ordering pork cutlet (donkatsu) at the register. The folks we interacted with were friendly. We got the kimbap, tteokbokki, and donkatsu and everything was very good, particularly for the price point. The portions are a touch small for me but i'd still say for NYC, the prices are good. I had a boneless chicken lunch box with banchan, a slice of egg omelette and some rice. Chicken was a little soggy but there was a generous portion. Banchan included some plain cauliflower, a spicy daikon and some lotus root. Appreciate the veggie banchan rounding out the meal. Flavors are fine overall. I also appreciate the reasonable portions and prices. If you decide to skip the prepared boxes, there are reasonable standalone protein and carb options so you can put together a meal to your liking but you lose some of the banchan. Ambience is minimal. There's a dining area in the back. It gets crowded but the lines move quickly so props to their cashiers. There are many lunch box (dosirak) options and food options here with microwaves in the back seating area to reheat food. The style of food here is similar to Woorijip where you select the packaged food that you want and then bring it to the back seating area to eat or take it out. You can get side dishes for $2, spicy rice cakes for $5, and bulgogi for $8. The flavors and textures of the food here did not disappoint. I tried the salmon lunch box which was overall good, with the broccoli a little bit salty for my taste though. They also have a dine in option called the Namsan Tonkatsu and that was yummy too. The tonkatsu was super crispy and had good flavor. As a spice lover, my favorite is the spicy rice cakes - the texture of the rice cakes, thickness of the sauce, and spice level is perfect to me! The ambiance of the dining space is also clean and spacious. The service was also quick and it didn't take long to wait for the tonkatsu to come out. There are quite a few options and they are probably modeling after Woorijip. Importantly, they should have one display model for each item. The steam clouds the top cover for a lot of the food options and I couldn't see what it looked like. I tried the udon with tempura on top. This was wildly expensive for what I got. The udon was probably just the store bought variety. There was some tempura on top but it was not edible. They put the tempura on wet udon. The tempura absorbs the moisture and then becomes rubbery. I recommend separating it or use a different topping. I also got the eggplant/mushroom, which was forgettable. The garlic soy chicken was okay, but I would not get it again. I like the idea, but I think there are still some tweaks to work out. read more
