As a reluctant (disgruntled) vegan I thought that the dishes I love at Jong's Thai Kitchen would not be nearly as tasty as I embraced a new plant-based eating lifestyle. However, that is not at all what I found when I ordered the Pad Thai, the Garlic Tofu (previously Garlic Chicken) and the spring rolls with tofu instead of chicken or pork. The Garlic Tofu dish was a definite hit with my wife and my Pad Thai with Tofu was amazing! I explained my recent eating/diet to Derrick on the phone as I was ordering takeout and Jong's was glad to work with the new vegan eating plan. If you have chosen the vegan lifestyle (I didn't - it was doctor prescribed) then you can enjoy eating out or getting takeout at Jong's! Per my previous review I do honestly believe that they are the best Thai restaurant in all of Topeka. I appreciate their flexibility and their ability to accommodate our new eating plan. read more

Best restaurant in Topeka hands down. I know that's not saying much but trust me it is very delicious food. I'd eat there every day of I could. Fortunately it's very close to my house. I don't think I've ever seen them open for inside dining but that's OK. during the summer we just take our food to the park. the couple who runs it are really nice people who care about their customers. read more

We heard about this restaurant on FB's Topeka Experience. It's only been open a short while in the Holiday Park area (12th & Taylor). We had a late lunch on a Thursday. We shared two items: Pork Thai Egg Rolls and Chicken and Rice. (Khao Man Gai). Both were savory and delicious. Not hot at all (Thai food has a reputation of being only hot/spicy food). The chef, Jong, came out to talk with us and brought a comped dessert (mango & sticky rice), which was yumm-o. The owners are awesome and were very attentive. These are the folks who started the new A-Hann Thai restaurant. They made our visit so enjoyable and we promise to be back soon. Yes, this place is small. Housed in the old pharmacy space of the historic devon building, this tiny restaurant is a delight. It has only 6 tables, so it is difficult to get a last minute reservation but they offer take out. The food is wonderful . Ask for the tempora fried green beans (which are not on the menu but the chef makes on request) . the egg rolls, dumplings and fried rice are stellar. orange chicken is incredibly tasty. mango with sticky rice provides a light dessert to end the meal. you can specify how hot you want the spice level so don't be afraid to give thai a try. read more

My husband and I nearly missed the opportunity to try the best Thai food in Topeka (probably best in the state) because the locals had it all reserved. We dropped by at lunchtime on our way through Topeka and were lucky to get a table for two because someone had just left. The sign outside said the dining room was full and it was take-out only. If you want to try this amazing, five-star Thai food, call for a reservation. First, we had Tom Kha soup. We both agreed we had never had better. And the generous "small size" was plenty big for the two of us to share. Next, they brought us a sample of Crab Delight. If you have ever eaten the usual Crab Rangoon that other places serve, this will forever ruin all others for you. These little delectable morsels were the most amazing treats of creamy cheese and crunchy shell we have ever had. It makes all others seem like pre-made, frozen in a box, by comparison. My husband ordered Pad Thai and I ordered Penang Curry for our entrees. Again, both items exceeded our expectations and all other previous examples we have eaten. I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this experience was for us. There is a reason the locals have this place booked up with reservations. Call in advance and you won't be disappointed. read more

As someone who cooks 3 meals a day (and snacks etc) and had just driven 8 hours - this was exactly the kind of food and meal I was wanting to come across. Very tasty, beyond fresh and crisp ingredients... all around 100/100. Food was delightful to eat, we had the Thai peanut salad, and crispy egg rolls. They surprised us with some dumplings and a taste of the crab delights. My children 5 & 2 loved these appetizers. We then had the fried rice, the creamiest red curry, and garlic chicken and rice. So much flavor and a good portion size. Completely filled me up but not in an overly filling way. Still had a little bit o room for some fresh berries and sweet rice. Not a single Berry was mushy or over ripe. Again- super crisp and spot on. We will be passing back through on a Monday and would go back, but they are closed Mondays! Enjoy those days off so you can keep providing us travelers (and locals;) with a very delicious healthy place to eat! Decor and the restaurant itself was very clean, inviting and all around lovely. Even with 2 small children, everyone was super kind and interacted well with the children. Next time I would for sure try the papaya salad and the spring rolls! It was the BEST I've had. I also ordered the cream puffs and they were incredibly delicious! The meal was so good I had to order a Pad Thai to go! Whenever you go into this place, you'd better have a reservation! Small space, not a lot of tables due to COVID spacing. If you just walk in and try your luck, they WILL be full... lunch or dinner. But the reservation effort is worth it! This is possibly the best food in Topeka. Fantastic flavors, ingredients all fresh! The food here is every bit as good as the best Thai spots in Kansas City, Dallas or Chicago (ok, Herb in Chicago is better, but it's also twice the price and 600 miles away). Unfortunately for me, I have lived in Topeka for two years and have never visited Jong's Thai kitchen before last weekend. The decor is modern farmhouse. The food is divine. Very clean, very cute. Only 5 tables available due to social distancing. We had the crab wontons and pork dumplings for appetizers. The crab wontons are good, better than most places. But the pork wontons are-- AMAZING. Probably some of the best I've had. As an entree, I had the Pad Thai with Chicken. It was really good. My companion had Linda's sweet chili noodles. Mine was amazing. His was good. Everything was amazing, from the complimentary salad right after we ordered, the Thai tea, the appetizers (crab delight and shrimp tempura) and the pad Thai and orange chicken were each delicious.
