I had heard good things about this place but was never able to get in (the establishment and parking lot are small). We started going out for breakfast earlier, so now we can get in. They have a really nice size menu and always have rotating specials that we usually get at least one. Nothing particular to recommend as we have tried many things and they are all great. Check it out for yourself.

This little diner is an excellent option for breakfast. That's the only meal I've ever eaten there so I can't speak to their lunches, but the breakfast are over the top delicious My friend got a western omelette and the size of the omelette was enormous and he got the little cubed potatoes which I believe there's a choice of like three options instead of hashbrowns and he loved those little cubed potatoes. He ended up taking half of his entire order home because there was just so much food. I got my normal eggs and toast and it was delicious. The service was great and our waitress was friendly and right on top of things at all times. The prices are reasonable and I don't believe there's much of a wait but it's a small diner so at certain times there might be a wait at certain times

Great diner with good food and quick service! Their menu is pretty extensive and portion sizes make for a hearty meal. It's a smaller restaurant inside so there's a good chance there's a short wait but it's definitely worth the wait. Overall I would 100% recommend going here for a good, quick brunch!

I did the math and this was the best omelette I've had in nine years. The service was incredible. The ambience was awesome. Everybody fit right in from individuals eating alone to families with small children. I brought my wife a week later and she loved it as well! Is definitely our favorite breakfast place in Michigan!

Such a cute place! Friendly and quick service. Huge portions on the kitchen sink omelette, the hugest omelette I've had on my life! Creative and tasty gyro Benedict. Free parking. Colorful exterior and cute woodsy interior. Try it!

A rare trip to Oakland County early Sunday morning, read dozens of reviews for places. This one jumped off the page for a very good reason . A quaint home feeling yes a real diner how cool. The theme outta the 70's grunge look, very unique. Outstanding Delicious food the Overboard Burrito OMG filled with Bacon Sausage Ham n Cheese, marvelous and cheap for the win. She had the Shroom Overload half Pound Patty Melt with Mushrooms on Both Sides of Bun and Double Cheese, so creative and fantastic. Really good fries and a cup of Italian Wedding Soup. Thanks Ms Shanny for the five star service, you rock. A full house 10am and a line out the door, Yes I know why. See all the 5 Star reviews around the web Google Yelp Instagram Facebook, truly a must visit . #oakdiner @oakdiner #diner #lowprices #creativefood #breakfastburrito #shroomoverload #royaloakmi

This cozy little diner gets super packed for brunch hours but the line moves fairly quickly! Great service and excellent food.

Food was pretty good and they give big portions for omelets, that it's big enough to share with another person.

The people working here were so friendly and personable with literally everyone that walked in the door. The service was top notch. It is also the most adorable place giving vibes of Lamy's food counter at Henry Ford Museum. I loved all of the options on the menu and it was so hard just picking a couple items to try. We had chicken tacos. They were so good and so fresh, I loved the sauce on top. Honestly, I am not sure if it was cheese or a sour cream type mixture, but it was creamy and flavorful. I also had the torta which was absolutely incredible. It had the same chicken as the taco. The chicken was slow cooked or stewed and shredded and was so flavorful, like a homecooked chef's kiss. The bread was fresh. I loved the sauce poured over it, making it a dipped and soaked sandwich. The carrots and cilantro, sliced radishes and sliced fresh jalapenos added a level of crunch, freshness and deeper flavor profile. I would want to get this every time. We also tried their delicious "curly" fries, which were like julienned shoestring fries fired fresh. It seemed like every dish was made fresh and right in front of you. So worth it, plus the prices are great. I would love to try their fried chicken plate, their breakfast sandwiches, and their other desserts. We talked to the man behind the counter who seemed like maybe a manager. He gave us their famous chocolate chip cookie to try. It was fresh baked and delicious. I would love to take home more of those. It looked so simple but was better than many bakeries specializing in cookies alone. He also gave us an second order of fries to take home with my leftovers, just top notch kindness and service. This man told us that OWL owns other restaurants and we would probably like them. I am open to trying more of their group but I do want to return here. This is one of those diners you would find being profiled for best kept secret or gourmet home cooked foods under the guise of fast food.

This opens up a lot of parking options since their actual lot is always full and a dead end so it's awkward to maneuver your exit if you don't find a spot. Also post office on a Sunday is also available. Or the city hall lot we've done on holidays or weekends. We've almost always gone as a pair and been able to get seating during the in between times of breakfast and lunch; some say brunch on weekdays or after the lunch rush around 1pm. I ordered the Mediterranean skillet, lemon pancakes, and a side of biscuits and gravy. Yes, this was a heavy breakfast! The Mediterranean skillet had plenty of feta, which I LOVED but it was dry overall. There was no sauce to really bring everything together. I even got eggs over medium and the egg yolk did not add much creaminess. It was good, just not my favorite thing I've eaten. The lemon pancakes were absolutely unreal. Sooo fluffy and the cream cheese frosting was incredible. I would 100% recommend them. I also tried a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was very thick, which was not my favorite, but the gravy itself was amazing, but it's the white super peppery kind, which I know is not everybody's favorite! Again, just kind of dry, even with the gravy. The service was good, and for a Saturday around 11 AM, the 20 minute wait was totally reasonable. I would definitely come back, just probably not for the skillet next time.

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.
