In my six decades of life I have never had anything from Jordan's that was not fresh and cooked to perfection. When we sometimes stop there for a quick ice cream treat, it's always been a welcome stop on the way back from Schoodic Point. They have a huge selection of ice cream, and it is always served promptly. The picnic tables and swings in the back yard of the establishment are wonderful for kids of all ages. We went to this place after finding out or favorite place the Bagaduce was closed today. At the window, my son (51 yrs old..so no kid) asked within ears hot of the window, if I wanted a drink and I said I'd just drink my water ...I carry an insulated cup everywhere. We took an outdoor table and started eating when the lady who cleans the tables came to us and said that personal water bottles were not allowed inside the cordoned off area. WHAT! Also in her superior way...said that if the liquor inspectors came they could lose their license to serve liquor. I comforted her by saying that we would only be there about 10 more minutes. Suddenly the food and the experience SUCKED. Neither of us was impressed with this display. I think it is more about making more money on drinks than about losing a license...and why didn't the people at the widow say anything? We won't be back...$61 for mediocre at best clams and scallops is just ridiculous...topped off with an obviously pleased -with- herself table cleaner...giving us the what for for daring to bring my own water to their outdoor table. The noise from the road makes it difficult to hold a conversation in their outdoor seating area or even place an order at the order window. They do offer indoor seating which I would recommend if you decide to dine in. The food is decent, but their prices are unreasonable (in my opinion) for the amount and quality of food they provide. This place has definitely changed since I was a child, with that said I still find my usual order to fulfill my craving. The hot dogs used to have a better snap and were longer and less thick, however a red dog is a red dog! The perfectly toasted griddled buttered bun with the perfect amount of condiments is something I can always rely on. The onion strings perfectly fried as well. Everyone is so nice and the place continues to be the staple Jordans has always carried. We chose to eat in the car as the weather was turning unsavory. We finished our meal off with a red raspberry soft serve and a strawberry fruited strawberry milkshake. Have been coming to Ellsworth for 35 years and had never been to Jordan's Snack Bar. It was time! Family of four, we all got lobster rolls. Nice grilled hotdog roll, classic. Lobster was very fresh but was chopped up quite a bit. I like to see good size chunks of lobster in my lobster roll. Lettuce was useless, don't bother. Onion rings were delicious but very greasy. Crinkle fries were hot and good. Picnic area was well maintained and I could see a play area for young children. Service was from the counter window and was good. Classic snack bar atmosphere. Overall very good for families with little kids. I will likely try another spot before returning. read more

My family and I came back to this gem of a restaurant again this year and it was even better than we remembered. The crab rolls are fresh and overflowing with delicious crab meat. Everything we've had here has been amazing. The arcade and playground for the kids is a nice distraction and lets the kids run off their energy. I've been eating here for many years and they have always been consistently good. I had the fried clam lunch today and was very pleased. The clams were good and not greasy. Fries were actually very good also, hot and crisp. No complaints at all. I also thought the price was in line for the quantity and quality. I'll be back! I didn't take a picture of my food but since I know people like that I'll describe it. The fried clams looked like fried clams and the fries looked like fries. The ketchup was in little packets. Visited here on a random day during the week and even though they had a pretty consistent line the service was quick, efficient and super friendly! As someone who grew up in Vacationland I can tell you this place is a good spot for visitors, locals, puppies and dogs! They have ample parking spaces all around, seating inside and outside and clean facilities! There was even a garage in the back with what appeared to be classic arcade games and a playground in the back to keep the kiddies entertain while waiting for their food! We love this place and have been coming for over 30 years. It's a required stop at least several times every summer, and have been there three times this week as the kids have visited. After many years of only ordering the scallop roll, I finally branched out and got the crab roll this year. All I can say is, I'm sorry I waited so long to try it-so good! The onion rings, crab rolls, scallop rolls, fish burgers, and the hamburgers are all delicious! And they serve beer and seltzers now, which is a nice addition. I love, love Jordan's Snack Bar. Let me tell you why. The food is so good, which is hard to do when you're cooking up orders for people on-demand. The young woman by the counter positively fussed over my dog and ensured that my dog got three (!!) cookies with her doggie ice cream. Our crew of friends had such a relaxing time hanging out at the picnic tables, and then the owner/manager came by to see how we were doing and have a chat about New England sports teams. Confession: We came back the next night for dinner; we had our ice cream *before* our dinner the second night! I intend to return to Jordan's Snack Bar next time I'm in the area. This place has a HUGE menu, with not only food options (seafood, burgers), but dessert as well (hard ice-cream, soft serve and milkshakes). I ordered the Haddock burger meal and chocolate milkshake. I should have opted to pay an extra $.35 for lettuce because it was good, but pretty plain. It comes on a bun with tartar sauce. The fries were crinkle cut and cooked crispy, but not overdone. My husband ordered the fried clams (based on other reviews) and he liked them. He opted for the potato salad, but only had a bite. It wasn't anything special...kinda dry. They have plenty of picnic tables for eating outside, and a dining room to eat inside with access to a game room for kids, which adds a thoughtful touch. Overall, we wouldn't come back here considering all the other fresh seafood options in this area. The 3 stars is for the friendly service and the kitchen (from what I could see) looked clean. Don't let the old reputation from when it was "Jimmy Jordan's" fool you....seafood platter was $40, if you want onion rings instead of fries, they just dont give you the fries and charge you full price for an onion ring side....the haddock was dry, I got 4 scallops 1 was good the other 3 tasted old, previously frozen & strange all at the same time....I tried 1 clam and couldn't swallow it! But you do get 2 tablespoons of coleslaw so that's nice.....don't waste your money here, go anywhere else! My friends and I stopped by Jordan's by way of a recommendation from a side-road fish shop that we randomly found driving around Bangor. We were visiting Maine for the 4th of July long weekend and wanted to try a super local lobster place. This was probably our 2nd favorite lobster spot during our 4-day lobster binge (lobster for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Our favorite lobster spot in/near Bangor was Eagle's Nest, but this was definitely a close second. We arrived a little before the lunchtime rush and our cashier Renee was extremely friendly and pleasant. She figured we were from out of town and gave us the rundown of their menu. It seemed like their fried dinners (e.g. fried shrimp, fried oysters, fried scallops) were all quite popular. I wasn't particularly a fan of the fried dinners, but the lobster roll, clam chowder, and milkshake was delicious. The fried scallop dinner was a bit too greasy for me (I know I know, it's fried...what should I have expected?), but the meal was tasty and filling. They also have some great seating options. You can either sit in their dining room or sit out on one of the picnic benches. It was a nice sunny day so we chose to sit down at one of the wooden picnic benches. They do a great job with their fried seafood, grilled burgers, and the onion rings are thin and stringy, so delicious. Of course, the main reason I go there is for their crab roll. In my opinion it is the best around. One of the main reasons why is they only use FRESH crabmeat to make the crab roll. NEVER frozen. It makes a world of difference! When you walk up to the counter window to order, you pray to see that sign posted. "Fresh Crabmeat Today". The sign means you are gonna get a toasted bun loaded with perfect crabmeat. You don't see the sign, you arent going to be able to get a crab roll. Simple enough, right? So, my meal of choice there is always a crab roll, with a small side portion of fried scallops. What a fun little place! If you are traveling north or south and need a place to stop, Jordan's is the place! They actually have an indoor dining area, bathrooms ( proper ones, not port-potties), a playground, ample parking, and delicious ice cream. I can't speak of the cooked food, but quite a lot of folks were ordering it and they had fresh crab and lobster rolls that night! We ordered two sundaes and a cone and it was under ten bucks! In NJ, two cones runs me almost 8! Definitely stop in if you are heading Downeast! Also a great place to watch the super moon rise! read more

This is an excellent snack bar where you can get burgers, fries, fish baskets, and soft-serve ice cream that never disappoints. There's also indoor and outdoor seating, plus an arcade. My personal favorites are the cheeseburger basket, with onion rings instead of french fries (the onion rings are to die for, thin and crispy with just the right amount of breading) and the peanut butter sundae. They offer dip cones, which is a soft-serve cone dipped in either cherry, hot fudge, caramel, or butterscotch sauce. The peanut butter dip used to be my favorite and I was so disappointed when they stopped offering it! However, the peanut butter sundae serves as an equally delicious substitute. read more

The onion rings were great to me, but I like very thin and stringy onion rings. They were very stingy with the condiments! My group (of 6!) was told we couldn't have more than 3 mayo packets or we would have to pay. We just sent different people up to the window to get around that though.
