Tacos! How can you go wrong? Come to Casa Jalisco and lend your taste buds to Mexi-cuisine. I had the Carne Asada tacos, Mexican style with only Onions, Cilantro and some picante sauce. To drink they had a special in all tall domestic draft beers (Wednesday) for $7.50. Angela is my server and gave me everything quick and fast/accurate! I love a nice side of beans/rice and I mix them together (better to stay on the fork). When in Ellsworth Maine come to 205 High St and enjoy!

We stopped at Casa Jalisco on the ways from Arcadia Ntional park to Boston, for lunch and had a pleasant experience overall. I ordered the Taco Salad (lunch size), which was just the right portion--fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without being too heavy. We also tried the Lunch Fajitas, and they were delicious--nicely seasoned and served sizzling hot. For the kids, we got the Cheese Quesadilla with fries. While the quesadilla itself was great, they served it with quesadilla and an enormous pile of fries--honestly, way more than necessary for a child's plate. It felt a bit excessive and could easily be scaled down. Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly. A solid spot for a casual Mexican meal with good lunch specials! They also have a huge selection of drinks and full service bar.

    The Vegan Burrito

Food: *** We got a burrito with fajita veggies and black beans, since the Spanish rice isn't vegan (a big letdown--they couldn't substitute anything else either). The burrito itself was healthy and enjoyable, especially with the red and green sauces on the side. We also shared a half pitcher of the strawberry frozen margarita. It was refreshing but not very strong--still a better value than ordering individual glasses. Service: ** Our server was friendly, understood our dietary restrictions, and made sure no animal products were added--great! But... he failed to mention that adding veggies would cost us nearly $12 extra. Since we couldn't have meat or rice, it would've literally just been beans otherwise. It felt like we were being upcharged simply for needing a vegan meal. They really should have a proper vegetarian or vegan option on the menu instead of charging à la carte and surprising you with the total. Atmosphere: *** A casual, family-friendly spot with plenty of seating and booths. Clean and inviting for a relaxed meal. Price: $$$$ We paid over $50 for just one burrito, a side of guac, and a drink--which is outrageous. The burrito alone was $27, while the most expensive meat version on the menu was $17. It honestly felt like we were penalized for being vegan. No rice option, no set veggie version, and hidden charges made it feel like they took advantage of us.

We stopped for a late lunch while on vacation. At 2:30pm, the dining room was full. The decor was authentic and tasteful. We ordered drinks and we were given chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was in a little carafe. I have a gluten allergy so I asked if the chips were GF. Sadly, no. The meals came quickly and all the food was very good and plentiful. Definitely a good value for the prices. I had enchiladas and explained my gluten allergy. I didn't get sick after , so they did a very good job. My son said this was his favorite Mexican restaurant, which is saying a lot, because we go to quite a few. Too bad we live in CT!! We gave 4 stars because the chips were not GF and there was no hot sauce on the table.

Solid Mexican American restaurant. Stopped here on our way to Acadia. The restaurant was absolutely packed and we waited about 30 minutes for a table. Service was great and the food came out quickly.

We are staying in the area this month and have been here twice now. I will state that I am very particular about authentic Mexican cuisine. It's a really cute vibe and the decor is great. The first time was honestly a bit underwhelming, as the service was a bit impersonal and the food was decent, but bland. I had a grilled chicken burrito the first time and it had no seasoning to speak of. Fortunately, I carry my own personal bottle of Tajin & hot sauce, so these amped up my meal. However, the second visit, the waitress was much more personable and even nudged me to try the shredded chicken as it "has more flavor". So I ordered the Chimi Fajitas with shredded chicken and Charro beans. She was correct, the meal was much better. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The rice is fresh and fluffy. The charro beans were good, but not great. My husband liked his meal both times, enchilada supremas. We will be back.

The historic building has a tin roof and a wooden bar that eeks history. Our waitress was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. I enjoyed the roasted tomato burrata baguette sandwich and it was toasted and tasty. Several of my dining partners also had the same sandwich. Another had the Warm Roasted Root Vegetable Salad that she said was wonderful. We finished the meal with generous portions of carrot cake topped with delicious cream cheese frosting. There is a store inside the Black Moon (that happened to be closed on a Saturday night). In the corner they sell vinyl records and CDs and there is also a selection of guitars. There was also a musician playing live music near the front of the pub that really added to the atmosphere. It was a truly great find right on Main Street in Ellsworth.

We walked over from the main strip of downtown and loved the vibe as soon as we arrived. Walking down the stairs to get to the brewery versus the glass blowing shop was so cute. With apples on the ground from the apple trees, it couldn't be more "Maine". When walking in, you order at the bar for both food and drink and then there is a booth/trailer out back where the food comes out. The inside is set up for open mic night and then outside they have a full stage where they host live music. There is plenty of seating outside at the picnic tables as well. We ordered a couple beers, the Margherita pizza, the potato chips, and the Carrot Top salad. I cannot tell you howwwwwwwww amazing the salad was!! I have never had a salad like this and I ate every last bite. The roasted carrots were so good, combined with the crispy onions and the dressing; it was heaven. The chips were incredible and the dip that comes with it just elevates it that much more. I believe it was a pickle dip of some sort? I can't remember specifically, just that I needed a vat of it. Then the pizza?! We couldn't finish it but man did we want to! Add all this tasty food to a beautiful backdrop and we were the happiest little foodies in Maine. Hands down best stop in Ellsworth!

We came back the following night for a REAL treat... First of all, Tony was our server. What an absolute sweetheart!! He had nothing but fantastic recommendations for us. He was definitely not your standard "waiter". He spoke to us like we were regulars, which we appreciated, considering we were from Massachusetts. We ordered three of his suggestions: wings, fish and chips and the spicy margarita. Outside of what was recommended we also got the beer cheese and GIANT soft pretzel, bangers and mash and the creme brûlée. First off- this was my first time trying beer cheese, so I was beyond excited. I hate pretzels, however. Guess what?? They were BOTH SOOO GOOD!! The pretzel was the size of my giant head and was so soft & salty. It really paired well with the creamy beer cheese. I'd come back just for this appetizer every time. The wings too, actually! I was a little hesitant because I read the word "dill" on the menu but they really tasted more like Buffalo wings with a note of dill at the very end. I think I might be in love.... On to the main event! The Smithwick's beer battered fish and chips... WOW. It was a little different than I'm used to (which was a great thing in this case). The batter was thick and crispy (I'm used to thinner) and the haddock was super moist. Very fresh! I order this meal wherever I go and this is definitely in my top 3 (out of probably 50 others). I was hoping I could switch out the chips for fries because, well, I've never had traditional chips before! I must say I was pleasantly impressed though! They were the BEST and completed the dish perfectly. My fiancé had the bangers and mashed. He said it was good and very traditional. I did not indulge, so I can't relay that in my review. Last, we ended the meal with a MUST try....the creme brûlée. LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS DESSERT! The top was a hard sugar coating while the rest was truly a creamy dream. I might have to stop back in JUST for this before I head back home! 5 stars. Definitely. 6 stars for service!!
