Half Reuben and Steak & Cheese Sandwiches
    Arlene S.

I was recommended by a local to come to Gerrish provisions as Schoodic Point has limited restaurants and some of them are closed for the fall/winter season. We ordered Admiral Ben, Lobster Quesadillas, Reuben, Steak and Cheese, and Clam Chowder. The food comes in huge portions. Their clam chowder had a lot of clams and great texture without being too dense with the potatoes and flour. The Admiral Ben had a lot of smoked salmon and a huge bagel. The lobster quesadilla was lobster meat with tortilla so nothing special. The Reuben sandwich was good with their sauerkraut that's not too pungent on vinegar. The steak and cheese was okay; the sirloin could use more seasoning. At the end, we ordered blueberry pie to share which the filling of the pie was amazing; wish the crust was a bit more crispy.

I can only rate breakfast. On our last morning in town, we had one gluten free breakfast and one regular. Both were tasty and very filling. The friendly staff and good old-time, small-town America atmosphere bumped the rating up to five. We loved it.

We are staying in Winter Harbor for a few days, we walked over to this place for an early lunch. We had the steak sandwich, coffee and blueberry pie. Everything was great, the service, the delicious food and coffee. Wonderful place. They also serve breakfast. Highly recommend!

During our exploration of Winter Harbor, we stumbled upon this gem. Lobster rolls were fresh and buns toasted perfectly. Kids loved the lobster quesadilla and ice cream, yum! Service was friendly and attentive. I'd definitely come back again the next time we travel to this area.

    Delicious chocolate chip pancakes

Breakfast was so good I ate here twice! Everything was delicious! The chocolate chip pancakes were amazing- they tasted like chocolate chip cookies. The cinnamon bun was the best I have ever had! I wanted to go back a third time but we did not have time. The little 5 & 10 store across the street should not be missed, especially for awesome souvenirs.

We stumbled upon this quaint cafe in the heart of Winter Harbor. The service was outstanding. Our server had spot on recommendations. Our family ordered a variety of items. The pancake stack was huge and fluffy. The egg sandwich was good. The bacon was perfectly crispy. The burger was exactly what you would expect in a burger. The side salad was fresh. I had the schoodic salad which had field greens, strawberries, grapes and goat cheese. The balsamic vinaigrette was a nice compliment. You won't find any fried foods on the menu. I ended my meal with a delicious serving of blueberry crisp with a side of vanilla ice cream. Prices were very reasonable. Our bill totaled $42 for four, which included dessert for two of us.

The crab eggs benedict is amazing, well worth the drive.

JM Garrish is a combination bakery, seafood restaurant, and coffee house and it get's all of those things right. We have eaten here twice now and both times have been a delight. The crab eggs benedict is perhaps the best that I have had (and I love eggs benedict). The english muffin was freshly baked onsite, and the Hollandaise sauce was prepared by hand for each order. Top it off with crab and a carefully grilled egg and you have a treat which is worth going out of your way for. We also ate dinner here and the Grilled Salmon with Mango salsa was delightful and my wife very much enjoyed her crab cake entree. The service was excellent, Andy was our server both times and he was knowledgeable, attentive, and very polite. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed with almost an art gallery/coffee house vibe but with the relaxed "down east" feel that is great about this part of Maine. For those who spend most of their time in the Bar Harbor scene, it is well worth the drive around to Schoodic and Winter Harbor. If you're looking for a place to eat (especially if you're tired of fried seafood) this place tops our list for the Acadia/Schoodic area. (Edit: I forgot to have they have really good ice cream and other pastries here as well. We had a slice of excellent carrot cake which was generously portioned but not 'heavy.)'

Great place but the last two times I've come you have been sold out of lobster. If you're looking for lobster make sure you call in advance.

Conscious Cafe is a small, tucked away neighborhood cafe inside a yoga studio. Their manu is carefully curated to nourish and replenish you body and soul. I really can't say enough about our experience here. We stopped by for an early lunch. I ordered the sweet potato soup as well as a coffee beverage. I typically don't like flavored beverages made with anything but espresso. Theirs are made with coffee and are outstanding. Zero complaints on the coffee. Their food is made fresh to order so takes a little while as when I was there, it was a bit of a one man show. The soup came came with crispy shallots and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. It was ginger kissed and one of the best sweet potato soups I have ever had. It was served with a side of crusty sourdough with the lightest smidge of ghee. It paired perfectly with the soup. The dining area is warm and comfortable with the kitchen easily viewable. You order at the counter and then the chef will bring you your meal. It's not a quick meal, but I promise you it will be worth the wait. Get to it!

Well was worth the wait. Good clean food, lots of vegetarian and gluten free options. The owner/chef Jesse even made a dish especially for me with all my dietary restrictions. Very nice! Also, there's a beautiful outdoor seating area that we really enjoyed. Definitely coming back!

Thankfully, we found Flexit because the Matcha was really delicious! My wife and I both ordered an Iced Lavender Matcha and the drinks came out quickly and efficiently. It seemed like a cute place to hang out and do some working/study sessions. Plus the location is perfect. Plenty of parking nearby and lots of other shops to explore post-caffeine. We did not order food during this visit so I cannot comment on the food. However, I will say that it seemed like they had a great selection of food as well as a grab-n-go section with lots of items from the cafe and other local vendors. If we're ever back in Ellsworth, we will 100% be back.

It's been a while. I figured there would be new, and hopefully friendlier, staff. I was half right. There was new staff, but unfortunately, they were as unwelcoming as the last batch. This place has no prices on any of the premade sandwiches or pastries in their cases (why??), so we asked "Hey there, how much are your pies and cookies?". The employee was in the lobby sweeping and said "I'm not sure. Somewhere between $3- $5. Maybe more". She doesn't look up. Doesn't offer more clarity. She just shrugged this non-answer to us and carried on. It was awkward. So my husband, trying to make light of it, says "Sounds like it's up for debate so how about I give you $2.50" and this girl gives us a dour look and snaps "Well, I'm not behind the cash register so I can't look at the prices, can I?". So, we have now learned our lesson with this place twice. Not sure what it is about the culture there that results in such bad service years apart and by different people. We won't be returning.

Would love to see more substantive dining options added to the menu (although the bakery options are all made in house, to my knowledge). Excited to come back to the area when the restaurant opens (Good Wolf).
