Yesterday I asked Jorge if he has time to come over and give me an estimate for trimming a large tree. He said that he has and we set up a meeting for this afternoon (his choice). I came to meet with him at 12pm sharp - nobody is there. At 12:05 I am calling him to find out if he needs a help finding the building. When he picked up my call his voice sounded like he simply forgot. After mumbling something about having more important things to do than showing up on time, he offered having his team guy to come in 1/2 hour to look at the tree so I would just stick around and wait. Cutting big trees is a dangerous sport and should be left for professionals. If you have problems showing up for an appointment on time, give at least a curtesy call (text). And if you don't need a job, don't set up an appointment. (I called him because of a high number of 5-star reviews.) read more

My wife and I could write a super long review here about how terrific our experience of Jorge and his team was. For the sake of ensuring you get what we want you to know, we will keep it "short." Jorge is prompt, communicates well, and clearly values his clients, their trees, and the work he does. We have a large yard filled with a LARGE variety of trees, many of which are fruiting trees (oranges, figs, apples, pears, pomegranates, persimmons and more). We are new to tree care of this scale and type, and Jorge took that to heart. His first visit was to assess the job, understand what our hopes were, and in the end, even to educate us. He gave us a lot of his time, building our confidence not only in his business, but also in ourselves. That, combined with Jorge's great value and obvious integrity, is all we needed to know he should get our business (and we gave it without hesitation). On the day of the job (a few weeks later), he and his team arrived promptly at the scheduled time. Remarkably, Jorge remembered everything we had discussed and hoped for, and jumped right into getting it done. He would periodically check-in with us to ensure we were happy with what was happening. They even did more than we expected and discussed. Too much to detail, but one example was the degree of work they did on a very large redwood tree. It is stunning to behold after their work, and they went the extra mile because they knew we were concerned about safety and potential limbs falling over time. And through it all, he and his team were respectful of our yard and us. A group of very nice people. And finally, when the job was done, they completed a thorough clean up. That is rare these days, from our experience. And Jorge took the time to walk us through the entire yard to be sure he had not missed anything and to make sure that nothing else had come up that should be accomplished. This is the 2nd time I have used them in Orinda and each time the amount of work done, in the time taken, and for the price offered had been by far the best in the bay! His guys are professional and work quickly and efficiently. They had to trim a huge camphor in my yard without causing damage to the garden and they aced it! They also cleaned an overgrown half acre hillside and felled several large dead Monterrey pines and other drought hit trees. I gave them a 5-star review last year but problems arose this year with a bid that wasn't accurate when it was done and work that wasn't finished due to it being a bigger job than originally thought and it was going to cost a significant amount more. We had to postpone some of it and I haven't heard back from them. I am disappointed about this. It also took more than the one day we were told and it got dragged out for a week which meant I had to make arrangements for someone to be here when I had to work. I think maybe they are busy enough that my job wasn't as important this time. I hope next time we can get an accurate bid and I would try to use them again because their work is so good and I genuinely like these guys. read more

We recently hired Jorge's Tree Service to remove three huge Monterey Pines that were at the end of their lives and threatened to fall on our house and/or yard. We couldn't be happier with the quality of work, efficiency, courtesy, and cleanliness of Jorge and his crew, from the outset of the bidding process through the end of the job. Before we hired Jorge's Tree Service, we got bids from several companies. Jorge's bid was substantially lower than those from larger firms, but most importantly, his bid was accurate; he completed the project on budget and on time. The topography and layout of our property made hauling away the copious amounts of wood and branch debris a challenge. We have a very steep, narrow driveway that bridges a creek, and cannot accommodate larger trucks or wood chippers. Jorge worked with us to brainstorm creative solutions that would keep the overall cost of the hauling down, and ended up reinforcing our bridge with a plywood top that allowed him to run a Bobcat up and down the driveway safely to a large truck and wood chipper parked in a pullout along the road below. The removal of the trees went smoothly and quickly, in spite of the challenges posed by one tree in particular, which overhung our house and had the potential for damage caused by falling limbs and debris. We were nervous at first, but the skill of Jorge's crew quickly put us at ease. The final element of the job - the clean up - went better than we could have hoped. Jorge's crew thoroughly raked, groomed, and cleaned up our property, leaving it in the best condition possible. They were completely proactive about this process, and we didn't have to point out any areas that needed extra attention, as is often the case when having work done in or around the house. He showed up the NEXT DAY and a large crew spent 5 days cleaning our hillside, removing 'fuel' in the form of fallen oak branches and woody shrub. Because we'd called last minute, he waited a few days after his initial work until he had men free and then he finished the job with MARCELLO (excellent) in charge. It was an arduous job, steep hill, high summer temperature, difficult access. The work bill nevertheless was very reasonable. He's an admirable business owner and I will call him again. Jorge arrived on time for the estimate and he and his crew arrived on time for the job. They finished ahead of the estimated time and removed an extra bush/tree they noticed was nearly dead. This hard working crew was careful and efficient. We had a 60 foot tall Juniper and 6 Grevilia bushes (over 8 feet tall) that they removed and ground the stumps down. They also thinned the dead wood out of 3 large oaks and trimmed them back from the roof line. All of this was chipped and WOW was it a lot of debris. They completed everything in less than 4 hours and the street and driveway were swept clean. I would definitely recommend Jorge for any landscaping job. There is no language barrier. My son had used Jorge and crew to take down an enormous old Acacia tree in Berkeley and raved about the work, the price, and how tidy everything was left after. I have an acre in Sebastopol, with many huge overgrown old oaks, and three large pines and two smaller oak trees that were dying right next to my house, presenting both a fire danger and damage as branches and sap fell, with one leaning far over the driveway. Jorge came over, gave me an estimate and we agreed upon 3 full days with a crew of 4 and 5 guys, a dump truck, huge chipper, stump grinder to deal with the "bamboo" type grass that was taking over the yard, etc. The climbers were amazing, all the guys were bright and personable and the work ethic of the whole crew is impressive. They're coming back to pick up the last of the huge rounds, but the old trees look so beautiful in their freshly pruned state...the trunk and shape revealed for the first time. Jorge worked with me to settle on a reasonable price (I'm retired and live on social security) and everyone worked very hard. The camaraderie of the crew was also welcome. Jorge's Tree Service has saved me and my family on three separate occasions in the last 12 months. First, on Thanksgiving 2018, after the first storm of the season, two trees on our property fell, uprooting a sewer line. Before we could have the sewer line repaired, the trees and their stumps had to be removed. Jorge came to assess the damage on a Sunday and removed the trees the following day. A month later we hired Jorge and his team to trim many of the trees on the hill behind our house. A team of four employees worked on the project for a week and did an excellent job. We split the price of the work with a neighbor (because we don't know where the property line is), and Jorge was very accommodating in taking direction from both us and our neighbor. The second time Jorge bailed us out was this past August when we received a demand from our home owner's insurance company to trim all the trees within 3 feet of the house. This was not a large job, but we only had 10 days to comply. Although Jorge was very busy with other jobs, he squeezed us in and got the job done by the insurance company's deadline. Finally, last weekend Jorge came to our pet parrot's rescue after the parrot escaped. Although pet rescue is not one of the services Jorge advertises, he dropped everything and came to help when my husband called. Jorge's employee Gustavo scaled two very tall trees and captured our miniature macaw, who was scared and stuck at the top of a tree. My whole family is incredibly grateful to Jorge and Gustavo for returning our 17 year old pet unharmed. In the spring, when folks were scrambling to get dangerous trees removed or trimmed back after the winter, they fit us into the schedule quickly and did a fantastic job for a reasonable price.
