He gave some great advice, and, frankly, he is the main reason we went with Synlawn. Installation was quick and done efficiently. Then it all went south! Mario said that it was great for pets, citing drainage and durability. It is not good if you have a puppy, which he knew we had, as puppies love to chew on things and the turf pulls out quite easily. Too, shortly after installation, we thought we had a ripple in the turf possibly due to installation. I contacted Mario and he said he would come by and take a look. We never heard from him again. To be honest, it turned out to be nothing, but, nonetheless, he never reached out again. After a couple of months was saw some discoloration around the fountain. I contacted Billy Bright, and he said it was due to the water from the fountain. He said to try CLR cleaner, which didn't change anything, and then he said to try GooGone, which also didn't work. He said Synlawn was not going to do anything about it, since it was due to the fountain. My point is, since it seems to be a known issue, why wasn't this mentioned at the time of the sale by our salesperson, Mario, with 17 years experience! The fountain has been in place long before the turf sale took place. Seemingly it is always what the salesperson doesn't tell you that comes back to bite you. Needless to say, that in no way can I recommend Synlawn to anyone. I am giving them one star as there is no zero.

We love our SYNLawn Synblue 745 lawn…read more Billy and Lou went going above and beyond in answering all my questions, coordinating with other warehouses so I could see samples in person while traveling (since they don't have local offices in the Bay Area, only Sacramento), and really diving in deep as I was analyzing every single detail + pros/cons of all the different turf lines as I was making my decision. Everyone was so patient and great. I probably called and talked to them at least 10+ times, Lou even answered my call while on vacation in Mexico! We only bought the turf and infill and used our own contractor to install in Oakland. However, I did about 6-12 months of research and sample gathering across many different turf companies and suppliers (WaterSavers, TigerTurf, SGS in LA, Heavenly Greens, BeeGreen, etc.) and SYNLawn's quality was consistently superior while also providing the most natural look. We also were considering the previous SynBlue 949 (which is no longer being manufactured) as it doesn't seem to require infill and many past customers in our area are extremely happy with it. It's super lush and felt very nice but has more of a yellowish hue when side-by-side with SynBlue 745. We also wanted to compare but weren't able to get a sample of the 545, but ultimately felt good about going with the higher density and face weight of the 745. Unfortunately, Yelp posted my pics in random order but you can see the general before and after. We're so thankful to have a wonderful place space for our kids, and to have found SYNLawn when we did (it was the last turf company I researched after someone recommended them from a neighborhood FB group). OTHER FINALISTS My other finalists were either Dune/Sage from SGS or an unidentified sample from Heavenly Greens. SGS to their credit was honest that those lines were meant for landscaping and may get matted down or have breakage over time with heavy play usage. We didn't enjoy the sales reps from Heavenly Greens and were unfortunately never able to narrow down the name of the sample we liked from them (there were no tags attached). Our neighbors installed Willow from WaterSavers, but it was not as plush or thick underfoot as the SynBlue 745, and not as natural in appearance. Overall, we're thrilled with our decision and hope this long overdue review helps someone else! (Our kids now use the other turf samples as "plates" on the turf when they play "restaurant." :))

If I knew this would transform my life as it has, I would have had it done much sooner! They replaced a gopher ridden, stickers and weed area. I have dogs that use this area as their main running space. I no longer spend an hour at night brushing stickers out of their fur and washing dirt from muddy paws! Jorge's crew had their challenges with my narrow, steep driveway and greenery but managed it with their truck without any problem. The crew arrived exactly on time. SO professional! Eight fabulous guys that worked together like a Swiss Watch precision crew! The project came out gorgeous, they cleaned every inch of space where they worked and after eight hours, I had a transformed front yard. Thank you to office manager, Gabriel , for keeping everything rolling, and owner Jorge and crew for making this a seamless start-to-finish project.

Generally speed and quality do not align but they have mastered the art. I've seen plenty of installs from other companies and without looking to hard you can find the seams. When Better Than Real is doing the install it's impossible. As a contractor I use them for all of our turf projects as well as my own home. If you need turf installed, don't bother going anywhere else.

He was the only one out of my 4 quotes that gave me options of replacing the entire fence, or keeping the good parts and only changing out what was damaged. The other quotes were to throw everything away and rebuild from scratch. Jorge was not like that, he said the wood is still good, and the posts needed more concrete since the builder only went a few inches deep instead of a few feet. Since i was at it, I also had him put concrete and turf in my side yard just so it wouldnt be leaves. It was a wonderful experience. What won me over with Turf World was: 1. Jason's transparency about the process with sending me his You Tube videos (the job went exactly as promised); 2. The turf itself was the best (was the closest replica to grass, the Catalina Pro was not the softest turf I sampled but was the sturdiest and prettiest and stood up the best like grass, and even my 6 year old daughter saw that it was the most realistic looking of 13 samples); 3) his communication, always prompt and complete, and 4) his price was the best. Secondly, a lot of the current turf looks very realistic and resembles natural grass. Third, I wouldn't have to mow the lawn anymore!! We put out the feelers on Sunday night at 8:30 pm, not expecting to get a reply until Monday morning, but Jacob from Verdigrass responded within 10 minutes! I, along with the wife was impressed by the quick response so we scheduled an estimate with Jacob for Wednesday. Jacob was very accommodating with my work schedule and actually came to my house by 8:00 am. Since Jacob was coming from Vallejo, I knew it was a long distance and he would have to leave very early in the morning, so again, we were impressed. My meeting with Jacob went very well. Since this was my first experience with artificial turf, I had a bunch of questions, which Jacob answered fully. It was also very helpful that he had several samples that I could see and feel. After getting my quote, which came in much lower than another company. We decided to go with Verdigrass due to the experience we had thus far with Jacob. Communication with Jacob was stellar, and he was able to schedule the job for Saturday morning. The material was dropped off on Friday, and Jacob's crew, headed by Juan, arrived at 0730 am, a half hour earlier than the 0800 am start Jacob had mentioned. The crew was efficient and highly knowledgeable and had the job done in approximately 5.5 hours! We could not be happier with our experience with Jacob, Juan and Verdigrass. Now we just have to save up enough money to do the backyard!

After talking to a few other local vendors, we decided to go with FENIX and we are really pleased we did. Adam, Kimberley and Erica communicated really well and answered any question we had about the entire process. They provided us with a few turf samples as well as an extensive list of referral addresses we could use to inspect their craftsmanship and the quality of the installed turf product. When the day to start the project arrived, Dylan and the large crew arrived right on time as arranged and immediately got to work. They were very professional and skilled. They were able to complete the entire project in one day and cleaned up the "worksite" nicely. We are extremely happy with the entire process from start to finish and would use them again if needed and would highly recommend them if you were considering installing artificial turf for your landscaping project. Not only was the craftsmanship top notch, the value was exceptional as FENIX provided us with the lowest price of all the quotes we received.

A neighbor had recommended Fenix. About a year ago a representative came to our house to give an estimate. He brought samples and measured the area and was quite thorough in his explanation and recommendations. We decided on one of the products but had to hold off installation because we were having other work done in the backyard that could have damaged a new turf. Finally the yard was done almost a year later and we contacted Fenix. Their prices had gone up only 10 cents a square foot but they honored our original bid. Installation was scheduled a couple of weeks later. A week before the install we received an email with the site prep, warranty, care instructions, and other useful information. They offer a discount if you pay by cash or check. On installation day they arrived close to 8 a.m. and apologized for being late as it was foggy in Sacramento and dangerous driving. The crew immediately got to work, first capping off the irrigation that watered the former grass lawn and then digging out the dirt and roots. They uncovered a couple of drainage pipes that we weren't aware of and cleaned them out and reset them to be operational under the turf. They accidentally cut some irrigation pipes and quickly repaired them. Once the job was finished they cleaned up our backyard, even on the side of the yard they weren't working in. The new artificial turf looks wonderful. We highly recommend Fenix if you are considering artificial turf for your yard.

Their labor and craftsmanship were good. However, the way this business operates is extremely concerning. Even though the scope was clearly defined both verbally and in writing, the owner later tried to change the terms of the estimate, claiming parts of the agreed-upon work were "mistakenly included." Throughout the process, there were multiple "gotcha" moments, surprise clarifications, shifting explanations, and attempts to downplay what was originally promised. Despite the written estimate explicitly listing a "mulch + small brick installation (combined)", the brick installation was never completed. When I followed up, they claimed it had been a "mistake" in the estimate and refused to honor that part of the agreement. Communication became defensive, taunting, and unprofessional, and rather than resolve the situation collaboratively, the owner sent a $300 refund before we had even reached an agreement, then canceled my ongoing maintenance service altogether. It's disappointing, because the work quality itself was solid. But their business ethics and communication practices are sketchy. They seem more focused on short-term profit than building long-term relationships or standing by their written commitments. They told me the brick feature would enhance the look of my garden. I guess I'll never find out. If you decide to hire them, make sure every detail is documented and signed. Otherwise, expect last-minute changes and confusion about what you actually paid for.

The backyard design was complicated due to the previous demolition of a pool structure. Silva team provided and implemented suggestions that has made our backyard useful and elegant. Awesome crew. Extremely neat, prompt and friendly. TIAGO the Brazilian Magician, did magic to my backyard. My backyard could have easily passed as THE UGLIEST, in the neighborhood, due to the uneven terrain, laden with last years dead grass. Now its a GEM!!!!! His color recommendations, matched with my preexisting concrete patio, dead on. He even threw in stylized border and mini retaining wall with no up-charge. This on top of an already extremely reasonable price. Just to illustrate, I had a concrete contractor, give me an estimate of $6,600for a 600sqf poured concrete patio (not stamped, not stained BLAH). By paying a couple of hundred extra, I was able to get a spectacular patio through SCI. I would highly recommend them to family, friends and to all. Great job Tiago and crew. read more

We hit the jackpot when we hired the Silva Contractors, a professional contractor to install and replace of our Backyard areas, Driveway, and Side of House with pavers. Rick's knowledge and good insight of how it will look and how to utilize the area of pavers help us with the planning project. It all started with the professional office communication, demolition crews, paver crews, and Tony, the project manager. They worked professionally as a team, hard and smart workers. I absolutely love my yard! I called many paving companies and was told I would have a 2 to 3 week start date as well as higher costs per sq ft. After many searches stumbled on to SCI. literally don't remember which search got me there. From then on it was so straight forward I could not be happier! Their team worked incredibly hard and efficiently, often close to seven days a week, to stay ahead of incoming rain so we'd have safe, usable surfaces for walking and parking. The quality of workmanship is excellent, and the attention to detail really shows... especially with the hardscape and driveway lighting they installed, which makes the entire project absolutely pop. Our backyard and driveway are now stunning, and we couldn't be happier. I didn't respond for a day, maybe 2, and I received a few text messages at the rate spammers do and a few phone calls. We've never talked outside of the messages attached. All I said was I received a quote for $14/sqft from a person that actually saw the job site. He goes to berate and be condescending to others because their price is low so he assumes it's not possible to offer quality, when he has no idea about the other company. He's greedy because he thinks he's the only paver guy in the game. Hah! His tactic takes advantage of unaware home owners but if you're informed and have already gotten 3 quotes with a wide range and know exactly what I'm wanting, I and others must not know and what we're doing, only he does. If anyone is interested, message me and I'll give you the breakdown of how I was able to get $14 and the exact contract structure with Belgrade pavers + speciality large format Belgrade stones. For him to just quote $18/sqft, never seeing the condition that may require so much less work, and be defensive about my response just goes to show you the attitude you'll receive if you work with him. Response: It may not make sense to you but it makes sense to me to leave a response because of your condescending comment and feedback. Many people start off at $18 and then somehow dropped to $11 after looking at the project. Hhhmmm A professional response could have been: "That's lower than I can do. Thank you for reaching out though." It's the condescension that I'd like to warn readers about.

He was the only one out of my 4 quotes that gave me options of replacing the entire fence, or keeping the good parts and only changing out what was damaged. The other quotes were to throw everything away and rebuild from scratch. Jorge was not like that, he said the wood is still good, and the posts needed more concrete since the builder only went a few inches deep instead of a few feet. Since i was at it, I also had him put concrete and turf in my side yard just so it wouldnt be leaves. It was a wonderful experience. I told Pablo we would not start this job 2-4 months so I felt uncomfortable paying the deposit so early but he insisted. Pablo reassured me that for any reason we do not do the work, he would come and do a $1,000.00 worth of work, so I have nothing to worry about. When agreed to sign the contract Elite pavers. At the same time, they were also doing a big job at my Daughters house. that job was a mess. Total lack of supervision, the crew was taking lemons off of the tree and throwing them at each, crew sleeping in wheel barrels, cut concrete not using water creating dust onto the neighbors yard causing issues with neighbors, the bobcat was unloaded upside down and took over an hour to flip it back, didn't level the yard before compacting baserock.... I can go on & on. They kept making mistakes that my son in law would catch, just poor quality work. After seeing this work I decided not to proceed with having elite pavers do my driveway. So i asked for Pablo do a small repair in our back yard worth $1000 to atleast make use of the deposit I paid. When asked to do that repair, Pablo said our min job is $4,500.00. I reminded Pablo of our agreement and he said well you signed the contract. After a while, he refused to do work for me and also refused to return my deposit. After months of going back and forth he finally returned the $1000 but it came with very unprofessional text messages. Pablo is 20 years old, very young and a lot to learn but is definitely being controlled by his "boss" Fernando. Every time Fernando showed up at my daughter's job, that's when corners were cut and mistakes happened. This company seems very scammy and I would not trust this company to do work for you.

NAB removed all the bad concrete and replaced it with pavers, and on the other side of the court, they added 5 feet of concrete where we had lawn, as well as adding to our existing retaining wall. After the pavers were installed, I noticed something not to my preference with the paver layout. I contacted Nick, our site manager from NAB, and he was very responsive, and arranged for Nate (the company president) to come out right away and discuss the matter, which was resolved that same day to my complete satisfaction. Nick also was happy to arrange for a few other small tasks related to bricks and concrete on our property to be taken care of, and they were - at no added cost. NAB construction was not the lowest bid we got for this work, but I have learned the hard way that going with the lowest price is not always a great idea, and I am glad I went with NAB for this project. I'm very satisfied with the results of this project, and would not hesitate to recommend NAB construction to others.

We wanted a walkway installed so we went back but this time we dealt with someone by the name of Nick Vard. He was very unprofessional and used the terms "outside the scope of work" and asked us to make a "commitment" several times. I went to Brickyard on a Saturday at 8AM per the direction of Nick but when I called him about our selection he never called me back. He blamed us and said they lost money on the job because it took longer than expected. He tried to convince me to use a brick I did not like. And the biggest disappointment was the drainage that they left unfinished. We spent almost $10k but we feel like the job is incomplete. Wish we could recommend them but if they continue working with Nick Vard you should stay away.
