Grand re-opening day. I needed a travel sport coat and found a decent but surprisingly expensive one in stock. After looking up that model and size online, and discovering that the online price was far lower than the one tacked to the coat sleeve, I asked store staff what was up. They were as surprised as I was, honored the online price and further subtracted the promotional discount in effect. Good coat at a good price. While I'm not entirely sold on the company (price discrepancy), store staff were great to deal with. Take home message: be sure to check online pricing when dealing with JoS A Bank. read more

Daughter had a wedding... of course I had to have a new suit, ran into JAB in Asheville and was fitted by Carson for a JAB travelers suit, new shirt and overcoat. They ordered as they didn't have my size, came in about a week later. I went back and was fitted, had to have several things altered, they shipped the suit to my home at their expense. Terrific assistance from Dante with selecting and taking measurements for a suit and additional slacks for me. Then when I returned for my tailored items, another, older gentleman, who was unfortunately stuck solo there with quite a flurry of customers, was also helpful and courteous. I would definitely give it 5 stars except that I'm partial towards locally owned stores, and this is a chain. But it was the only one I could get to on a busy day, and they were just great. So, consider this rating 4 and 3/4 stars, that just couldn't be rounded up! read more

Terrible customer service and experience. Walked in told the guy I needed to purchase a tux. He begins to help me then another customer comes in to pick up a suite. Well he had lost the gentleman's suite so he spent the next 30 mins looking for it. Completely stopped helping me. Stood in the store waiting for him or someone else to help me for 45 mins. I eventually walked out. Very disappointed and would suggest going to any other location beside this one. I have shopped at many other Jos A Banks where the staff has been nothing but helpful and nice. read more

Unpleasant experience! I ordered a suit on the Jos Bank website, and paid online for the pants to be hemmed and creased. They were shipped to me without tailoring. Not the store's fault. HOWEVER, when I drove an hour and a half to the Asheville store for the hemming, they would not honor what I ALREADY PAID online, saying they are an independent store and have their own tailor. There apparently isn't a "Store Manager", they are all "managers." Well, the man I spoke with (Byrd Rawlings) was rude and unprofessional, and would not budge on the price of tailoring. He said I could go somewhere else, but that they had the best tailor in town. (Yet, while I was in Jos A Bank, another customer was there complaining that they did a horrible job tailoring his suit. The legs weren't the same length and the stitching was coming undone. So much for "best tailor in town!" As soon as I heard that I was out of there.) So I decided to go to Men's Wearhouse in Asheville. The manager was very professional, and even honored what I had paid online for hemming. Apparently Men's Wearhouse and Jos A Bank are owned by the same company. Too bad this Asheville Jos A Bank franchise won't ever get a penny from me. Stay away! Go to Men's Wearhouse instead. Their employees go above and beyond. read more

Been coming in every now and then for the past 6 months, and the staff is always extremely competent, accommodating, and knowledgeable. A few months back, there was a young woman (can't remember her name unfortunately) that was very helpful when I was looking for some comfortable/stylish clothes for work. Came in last week looking for some pants and a vest, and Byrd had a way better idea of what I was looking for than I did! I'm not the most savvy when it comes to fashion, so it gives me peace of mind to know I can rely on the professional opinion of the staff here. Wow. Horrible experience. I was judged the moment I walked in the door by the manager Dante. I was helped by Michael who didn't seem knowledgeable and kept grabbing the wrong fit and style suit, and then he would disappear whenever I'd come out of the fitting room (I was the only customer in the store). Both gentlemen seemed extremely awkward and had no concept of customer service. I've shopped at Jos. A. Bank for all my suiting needs for years (at other locations) and always had a friendly / helpful experience, but this store has made me rethink ever stepping foot in another store. read more

I ordered three items online, they arrived and did not fit. My fiancee returned them at the Asheville location, she was given no receipt, no proof that she returned them, her card was not swiped. She was simply told that we will be refunded in 7-9 business days. That has me feeling a little uneasy if I will actually get a refund. Not providing proof of return is absolutely unacceptable. Update, called the store this morning and spoke to the store manager. He was rude and unhelpful. Lots of excuses. No explanation of why his store does not provide return receipts other than, "that is how we do it". Amazing customer service and the largest selection I've seen in a Jos. A Bank anywhere. I really don't know what these 1 star reviewers are talking about, my experience couldn't have been any more 5 star. I came in on a Tuesday afternoon needing last minute alterations on 2 pairs of pants and a vest, hoping I'd have them by Friday morning (Thursday was the 4th of July). They called me WEDNESDAY MORNING saying my pieces were ready for pickup. Everything was perfect and now I've got one less thing to worry about for my wedding weekend. This used to be a terrific store for upscale menswear. Then they were acquired. All-new staff instead of the ones who had been there for decades. The pants I tried on looked horrible because of cut and fabric problems. I literally couldn't find a decent-looking pair of light grey-flannel summer trousers.
