I went to exchange a suit at the Jos A. Bank in Towson, MD. Immediately I saw how incredible & helpful the staff was. Specifically, I worked with John who is one of the sales members on the floor. He answered every question that I had and found me the perfect suit to walk out with. I had a great experience shopping with his assistance. If you need to rent suits for your wedding or special event, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Save yourself the stress and inconvenience. Apparently, most of the suits don't arrive until 3 days before the wedding, which leaves no time to fix anything if something doesn't fit or is wrong. Then, we received a message saying one of our suits had arrived in store. We rearranged our schedule and drove an hour to pick it up, only to get there and have them tell us they couldn't find it. After looking into it, they said the notification was sent by mistake and that the suit would actually arrive in 3 days. Now they've come back and told us it actually won't arrive for another 8 days and apparently there's "nothing they can do" unless WE pay an additional $80 expedited fee and the "manager" could have someone else relay was "there's nothing we can do". So after their system mistakenly tells us the suit is ready, we waste two hours traveling there and back, get told incorrect information about when it will actually arrive, and now we're expected to pay extra money to make sure it gets here in time? Wedding planning is stressful enough without having to worry about whether the suits are even going to show up in time. I would absolutely recommend going somewhere else if you're renting for an important event. No one at this location has been helpful. read more

Good news and bad news. Bought two slacks for possible use in a wedding. Dan was very helpful. Wedding turned more formal and I was able to return the pants without issue two weeks later. While there I asked to try on suits. We were unable to find a suit that matched my jacket and waist sizes. That was that. Unimaginable. From there we hopped over to the Towson Banks and easily found a suit that was made to match. Weird huh? Good customer service, but poor suit selection. I'd advise going elsewhere to buy a suit. Husband needed some clothes for special occasion, and we went to Joseph Bank in Hunt Valley. One salesperson can make all the difference in the world, and we found that one person who "got it" on what my husband needed ... and after we had been looking at so many other stores carrying men's clothing. We were so impressed with Edrics - that's his name- ask for him- he definitely has style and flare and and so personable. So impressed and definitely will be going back... Rented a suit as well as my son's for a wedding. My pants were 2" to short, jacket was short in the sleeves and the socks were so thin that if you were to put them over your head to commit a robbery, they will see and know who you are. They gave me half off and told me to tape it up with seaming tape from Walmart. I did and the tape got stuck on my socks and just made for a terrible experience. My son and I switched jackets and they fit better than our original ones given to us. Bottom line is none of our 4 suits were correct so I can honestly say I not inclined to ever go back and would not recommend to anyone unless I don't like them. read more

I spent nearly $200 at the store near me for a tuxedo rental to be the groomsman at wedding, and had it shipped here. I had a terrible experience with their unknowledgeable and unhelpful staff (tailor was okay). I would recommend going anywhere else. I was measured just a few weeks ago, and have actually lost four or five pounds since then. At the time, they said "there shouldn't be a problem, but if there is, we can get replacements shipped overnight anywhere you go and we'll have you looking good." I came in to try on the tux 4 days before the wedding. These people clearly can't use a ruler. They got me pants with a 26 or 27-inch waist that are way too tight (I could barely breathe in them). I have to wear them way up on my stomach to squeeze in, and the fabric on the front is still stretched tight, which is uncomfortable and somewhat revealing. The manager glanced at the computer for about ten seconds and said "sorry, there's nothing we can do. We can't ship any other pants to you here, or in Chicago (where the wedding will take place." Then he wandered off. The tailor said he'd try to lengthen the pants (since my ankles were exposed from having to wear them up nearly at my chest) and fix the jacket sleeves (which they also managed to screw up; they were hanging down over my palms), but there was nothing they could do about the waist. Keep in mind that the waistband is adjustable by about four inches. All they had to do was get the measurement right within about four inches. But these pants didn't fit me on the widest setting. Then another salesman came up and said "Gosh, in my month or so of experience doing a dozen wedding rentals, I haven't seen this before. Sorry about it." And promptly said "let's make sure you paid in full," which I did three weeks ago. I came back the next day to pick up the tailored pants. Still extremely tight/uncomfortable. I said "isn't there anything else you can do?" The manager hemmed and hawed about how they can't get anything shipped in time for me. The tailor finally said, "let's check some pants in the store." They had a bigger pair that fit me in the waist. The legs were huge though. He shortened them for me so the length is okay. The legs are too big, so they flare out like bell bottoms though. This is the "best they can do." The tailor was okay, but everyone else who works for this store is extremely unhelpful. They just want to take your money and don't care if you look good or are comfortable. They can't get a waist measurement correct within four inches, and then it's like pulling teeth to get them to try to fix it despite their promise to "overnight ship whatever you need to get the fit just right." For nearly $200, you get terrible service and low-end made-in-China clothes. I would go anywhere else to find clothes. Don't go here, unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars for clothes that don't fit. read more

This store is amazing. It's not the largest Jos. A Bank that I have been in, but the employees treated me, and the other customers, with care, professional courtesy, and a smile. From the minute I walked in, they made me feel welcome, at ease, and they listened to what I needed, then found it, fitted it, and I bought it! The selection was better than the store at Kenilworth, the associates working at the store hit every mark in the way of customer service. Went here with my boyfriend to get a tux for a wedding he was supposed to be in as soon as we walked in the one older gentleman greeted two other men and said nothing to us the entire time he was so interested in everyone else and was only half paying attention to us before he finally pawned us off to Chris who was absolutely no help AT ALL something went wrong (which supposedly has happened to every other groomsmen in this wedding party) but has always been resolved by calling the original location said the groom but when we told the young man that he acted like this was some crazy thing and it would be so hard to do so here we are with a wasted trip now on our way to the Towson Jos A Bank let's hope this one is better. Update: I went to return the tux and had a much more pleasant experience this time. Thanks to everyone who helped us out. read more

I have been a customer of this store for nearly 10 years, but have recently come to the conclusion that I need to take my business elsewhere. To be clear, this store may provide an adequate product and service for some; it just depends on your expectations and needs. This is truly an example of "you get what you pay for". Actually, you may get a bit less than you pay for these days. To begin with, the suits I've purchased at Joseph A. Bank over the years have not held up well. Admittedly, I wear suits every day, so my case is a heavy use scenario. If you only wear suits for special occasions, the quality may be less important than the price. In any case, the belt loops at the back of the suit pants ALWAYS show significant wear after a few months. Typically, you can bring them in and have new belt loops made once or twice using the excess fabric they cut and leave with you when they initially tailor the suit (at the time of purchase). But once that fabric is gone, all bets are off. They tell you they no longer carry that fabric and essentially tell you they are out of options. As an aside, when I brought up how quickly the belt loops wore out, the tailor (Alex) tried to lecture me on how I needed to adjust my posture so that the back of my pants didn't contact my chair. In itself this was clearly a ridiculous suggestion, but they also had no answer when I replied with, "OK, but if it has to do with how I'm sitting, why don't any if my other (non-Joseph A. Bank) pants have this problem? Crickets. (Folks, the real answer is they use cheap fabric.) But, maybe you just wear suits occasionally and you aren't worried about the wear so much. In that case, you still need to be aware that if you ever need to get your suit altered, they will be super keen that you dry clean the pants first. They will require that the little dry cleaning tag still be affixed to the belt loop, and they will also scrutinize the pants for wrinkles and other evidence that they aren't fresh from the cleaners. This is understandable of course. But my main beef is that they have occasionally refused to believe me when I clearly told them the pants had been dry cleaned and not worn. I wasn't lying, but they basically told me they didn't believe me. They based this assertion on the supposed presence of wrinkles. All in all, I just grew tired if the BS over time. I intend to take my business elsewhere in the future. read more

We had such a fun, interesting experience last night. My fiance and I walked in, clueless, looking for a suit for our casual outdoor wedding. A kind older gentleman locked onto us right away and seemed to get what we were going for. We knew some of the prices in this store but we nervously told him we are on a budget. He proceeded to work his magic in the store and presented us with several complete outfit options. The sales are so confusing and there are many items considerably marked down but not labeled as such. He pulled out $1000+ pieces and assured us that wasn't the real price. We were still skeptical. Sure enough we purchased a gorgeous suit and shirt combo for just over $400 from the "premier" or whatever line priced at $1500. Maybe its a scam but we had a good time, got a great suit, stayed on budget, and have alterations scheduled from that very staff person next week. What a great employee! read more

Went in to get fitted for a suit for my best friends wedding. I was part of the bridal party so the suit and color was already picked out. Jack was great and very friendly. But when I showed up to the wedding that day I realized my suit was the wrong color. It was very embarrassing and I felt like an idiot having a clearly different color suit then all the other groomsmen. The bride also wasn't very happy, to say the least. I called and spoke to the manager Scott and his response was pretty much "yea ok, what do you want me to do about it?" No apology, no nothing, except a terrible attitude. I took it in today and he offered to give me $100 and still had a terrible attitude. The manager had an opportunity to keep an already loyal customer but chose to be rude. I've purchased 5+ suits from them in the past but needless to say I'll never be going back. read more

Very good customer service but the outsourced tailoring solution has been a complete and utter debacle. A month in and I have pants with different leg lengths, and jackets with different arm lengths. The in house tailor is great but beware if he isn't doing your alterations. If they're sending them out the result is horrid. read more

The newer African American lady Nancy Hargrove is a mess. I am telling you if you have the option to get waited on by the gentlemen go for them. Everyone in the store is super nice, patient, and treats you with the respect that you deserve. She uses forceful words upon you and tries to make you buy something you dont need or want. After I told her I did not want to buy the slip on sneakers she continued to bug me about them and said she would be checking the price on them to see if they were discounted. She then had to order me a pair of pants in because they did not have my size. After not hearing from her in 2 weeks I walked in myself and one of the workers came after 10 minutes saying that they werent able to locate the pants and that they would give me a call when they found them. Never got a call. Very unorganized place and I am not sure who can successfully work with Nancy after nicely telling her I wasnt interested in the shoes. read more
