The Blue plate specials wasn't all that good and the amount of food they give you is not enough.

I've not been here in a while and decided to stop by while visiting my "old stomping grounds". Food was average as well as the service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Definitely is a diner ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Location is great. Super close to shopping and right off of the interstate -- hwy 25/Lakeland Drive.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is the cutest place. I love the red leather booths, old-fashioned bar stools, and pictures of stars from yesteryears.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But let's just say I overeat, which is a great thing when the food and the service are so good. But in my sweet defense, how did I know the portions would be so big? The pancake was a big ol buttery lumberjack, and the sausages were the real ones you balled up and put in the skillet; even the bacon was the old-time bacon with the fat you get from grandma's house. The grits, toast, and eggs could have been a dish alone. So I overate and don't regret it, not one bit. But what I didn't know was that you can order lunch at the same time as breakfast. This guy next to me at 10 in the morning ordered a mouth-watering pasta dish. I stared at him; he stared at me. Yes, we shared a little from each of our plates. So, I will be stopping in sometime next week to order the pasta dish.

    Crawfish Omelette with cheese grits

Great service! Great food! Great atmosphere! Great prices! In town for only a couple of days and I wanted to eat somewhere that I couldn't get in Kentucky. Found this place on Yelp and it was a great find. The cheese grits was so good that I ordered a bowl to go. My crawfish omelet was delish too. I would go back for sure. Great experience. My server, Connor, was great! Very attentive.

This is our bill, for which you can see the total was $32.72.

First time diners. Food was great. Received the check and it states you will be charged with 3.5% admin fee for credit or debit card transactions. I understand that our total bill was $32.72 for which we paid cash. However, when receiving our change, they can the $. 28, which rounded our check up to $33. On the way out, I asked why they did not give us our $.28, to which she replied, we don't do change we round up or down if it's .50. To which I replied, that is not stated on your policy you do not tell your guest that and that is thievery. She said all places are doing that now. I said well that's not a common practice that is thievery. So I suggest if you're gonna pay with cash, make sure that you have exact.

FYI First I was served half done then recooked. If you are paying for a service, then great service is expected. Unfortunately it wasn't.

A frequent but very unhappy customer. ***I was served half cooked filets then refried unfortunately.***

The restaurant has a formal setting, but with a comfortable and cozy atmosphere. We started with some drinks and a wedge salad. Portions are large but they don't skimp on quality. After a successful purchase and a hemorrhaging from my credit card, we opted to celebrate the occasion with a meal. And Lo and behold Table 100 was just across the street from where we were. Ambiance 4 Stars - as you walk into the establishment, you are transported back where the warm wood interior, cozy white table cloth tables or booths, high end bar drinks, and classy servers in their white or black attire are waiting to serve you. There plenty of tables and booths to seat a plentiful of patrons. And if you need a little bit more private, you can request a private room depending how many are in the party. 4.5 Stars - Service: our server, Andrew was wonderful, professional and has a great sense of humor. We bantered throughout our dinner but the conversation never crossed over to make anyone uncomfortable. He was observant of our needs and when to bring our next course. Our glasses stayed full with our beverage. 4.25 Stars - Food We ordered from the dinner menu instead of lunch due to our timing at 3:00. Let's just call it "Linner". Haha. 4 Stars - Grilled Swordfish- My wife ordered the dish and came with a decent size grilled swordfish fish, sauté spinach, creamed mash potatoes, and a beurre blanc sauce (lemon, butter and dry white wine). The swordfish was thick and moist; not dry at all. The beurre blanc balanced the bland spinach and the seasoned swordfish. The creamed potatoes were creamy, buttery's and not too salty. 3.75 Stars - Pan seared Redfish with cube fried potatoes, sauté green beans, beurre blanc sauce and top w a Chilean tomato salsa. The redfish was moist and tasty but I wish it had a little bit seared on it for a crunchy factor. The cubed potatoes were good but nothing to write about. The fresh sauté green beans could have a bit more garlic butter. 3.5 Stars Side dish: Deep Fried Brussel Sprouts. Hot, steamy and fresh. Has a slight crunch on the exterior leaves and was seasoned w a sprinkle of salt. 3.75 Dessert: Crème Brûlée and coffee. The crème brûlée crust was crunchy and the vanilla egg custard was good and smooth. It would have been better was a scoop of fresh whipped cream to go with the fresh fruit and crunchy layer. 5 Stars - French pressed Italian coffee. The coffee was a highlight of the dessert. It was hot, fresh, and strong. Just like an Italian coffee should be. It was between an espresso and caffe' Americano. Our, server, Andrew did a wonderful job on the coffee! I definitely recommend this place and we will be back. Don't forget to ask for Andrew, if he is available.

We walked in…read morearound 9am on a Sunday morning and, after confirming they had pork-alternatives on the menu, waited to be seated. The place was not crowded but was doing a decent business and we only waited about a minute before being escorted to our table. The space is slightly cramped, as you have to walk single file down the aisles, especially if there are customers at the tables. Regardless, the decor is nicely done with cool copper looking A/C ductwork exposed among the black painted rafters and beams in the ceiling. I was immediately arrested by the Apple Fritter French Toast, French toast style fritters with fried apples, rum butter sauce, blueberries and powdered sugar! Both the description and the pictures on the menu were mouth-watering! But I was also torn between that and the Bourbon Street Pancakes, three house-recipe cakes topped bananas, pecans, rum butter sauce drizzle and whipped cream. Yeah, I was thinking exactly what you are thinking right now! After much indecision, I opted for the French Toast, with a side of eggs and chicken sausage. My mom ordered the Pumplin Crunch Waffle, a pumpkin infused graham cracker crunch Belgian waffle, spiced pumpkin cheesecake butter, maple pumpkin syrup and powdered sugar. I also opted to try one of their Cranberry Pomegranate Fizz Mocktail, which was iced tea, cranberry and pomegranate syrups, lime and ginger beer, with rosemary and orange peel! We were taking no calories prisoner today! After a short wait, my mocktail was brought out. It was just okay. First, the glass was completely full of ice so there was barely any drink. The syrups were a little too sweet and the ginger beer was not very prominent. As I was tasting it, our server came back to inform me that they were out of apples for my French Toast. Maybe its just me, but 9am seems kind of early to be running out of ingredients for your featured dish at a breakfast/brunch restaurant... Anyway, that dilemna settled, I reverted to my other choice and got the Bourbon Pancakes. I also asked the server to remake my mocktail with less ice, which he obliged very quickly. Our food arrived shortly thereafter and the pancakes were really good! Just the right amount of flavor and syrup. My mom's belgian waffle was also pretty good, although she wished it had been larger. The eggs and sausage were decent, but not especially memorable. Overall, it was a really enjoyable first meal back in Jackson. I would not hesitate to come again!

I was so excited to come here because this is a duo restaurant + bake shop, serving Southern favorites. Upon entrance, I was greeted by the staff members in such a warm, hospitable manner. Since I traveled across the U.S. and flew in from California, I was quite famished. I ordered the following: * Hamburger Steak Entree (angus hamburger meat, mushrooms, onions & gravy): Selected the two sides - Mac & Cheese and Turnip Greens. Also came with a green salad (added boiled eggs) and a bread roll. A soft drink was even included with the entree. * Bowl of Seafood Gumbo All of the food was beyond palatable. Everything was super flavorful, and I enjoyed it all from the start to the finish. I was especially quite impressed with the taste of Turnip Greens and Seafood Gumbo (top favorites). The portion of the meal was generous and filling. I was feeling full and satisfied after consumption. I wasn't able to try any of the desserts. However, it was nice to know that there was a variety of freshly-baked sweet treats available. Options included cakes, cookies, pies, pound cakes, and breads. The ambiance of the restaurant gave it a family-oriented, neighborhood diner. The dining room was spacious, with a lot of tables and chairs available. The overall feel was cozy and inviting. From the pleasant customer service of the staff to the delicious food, Primos Cafe definitely delivers. I highly recommend stopping by.

I had the Friday special of fried catfish and my wife went with a burger. You order upon entering then get your own drink and choose your own seats. My catfish was excellent with a crisp cornmeal coating and delicious flavor. Mashed potatoes were also outstanding. The yeast roll was so fresh and tasty and paired well with my meal. My wife really enjoyed her burger and stated it was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were very fresh. She also loved the mashed potatoes. Today's pie was peanut butter but we had no room for dessert. Apparently Primos has other locations and I would strongly recommend this restaurant

From the moment we walked up, the vibe was pure vacation mode: bright umbrellas, good music, and that gorgeous waterfront view that makes you wanna stay all day. Appetizers: We went all in -- charbroiled oysters, raw oysters, gator bites, fried green tomatoes, spinach dip, and a side salad (not pictured because it didn't last long ). Every single bite was on point! The charbroiled oysters? Buttery, smoky perfection. Gator bites? Crispy outside, tender inside, and seasoned just right. Not a single miss here! Entrées: We covered the menu like pros -- fried platter, blackened platter, blackened alligator tacos, redfish, bang bang shrimp tacos, and a side of hushpuppies (because who skips hushpuppies?). EVERYTHING came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The bang bang shrimp tacos had that sweet heat you crave, and the blackened alligator tacos? Hands-down one of my faves of the night. Service + Atmosphere: The staff was friendly, professional, and fast, which made the whole experience even better. The timing was perfect -- no long waits, just smooth service and chill energy all around. And let's talk about that view! Sitting by the water watching the boats roll in while the sun set? 10/10 ambiance. Final Thoughts: I have no clue why this place is sitting at 3 1/2 stars, because our experience was solid 5 all day long. Food, drinks, view, staff -- everything hit. Shaggy's is that feel-good, toes-in-the-sand kinda spot that deserves more love. If you're thinking about going, GO.
