Jose and his team did a great job renovating my backyard. My yard was a big hill eight a deck that leaked and not usable. Jose removed the deck and old retaining wall, regraded the yard, built a new retaining wall, new large pavers patio, built a second small retaining wall, and laid straw and grass seeds. It was amazing how fast They finished everything! They started right away, and finished within 3 weeks. For such a huge job, it's really impressive! In addition, Jose is super responsive. They replaced a retaining wall that stretched across our whole backyard, replaced drainage pipes with PVC, put in french drains, and regraded our backyard. The difference is incredible! Jose and his crew are great! From the moment I submitted the request for quote over Yelp to the moment they completed the many projects we requested I was never disappointed. Jose contacted me within hours of me submitting a request for quote on Yelp. He was here the next day to take measurements and notes all all the projects we were wanting done. His quote came in as the cheapest, and they were able to start immediately. We had Jose, put in a drive way, a small side walk, put in a drainage system around a newly installed pool, grade the yard so that it drained correctly and put up a small fence to hide the pool equipment. We did a lot of research and interviewed almost 10 landscaping companies for a major front yard transformation and some work in the backyard. Jose brought a lot of ideas to our rough plan and we thought his estimate was reasonable and unlike many companies, moved scheduling mountains to start work on our project within weeks of us agreeing to terms. His team is really professional, friendly, timely, and their attention to detail was particularly appreciated since I can be a bit of a stickler for the small things. I ended up adding a bunch of extra work I needed because of my confidence in Jose after seeing him and his team start their work. They ended up replacing old drainage pipes in my yard with PVC, staining the back deck, and even fixed a crack in the foundation that was causing a leak in the basement. This project grew and the end result is really great. Jose has promised to check in and make sure the new plants and trees take hold which is a relief in light of how incredibly expensive landscaping can be... So total project included the creation of a two-tier stone retaining wall in the front, new stone walkway in both the front and back, new bushes/plants/trees in both front and back, new underground pvc drainage pipes from all downspouts, new sod in both front and back, small retaining wall and site preparation for a future under deck shed, basement crack repair from the exterior, and three coats of stain on the deck. If i could give this guy zero I would. Nothing but lies and a blatant disregard for my time. I wanted to give a small local guy business, never again. 3 weeks out from hosting a baby shower in my backyard, I set up an estimate walk with Jose. It rained pretty heavily so Jose was a no show. We spoke on the phone and agreed that if I left the gate open he would walk on his own and send me an estimate. A few days later we spoke again and although it sounded like he never walked he asserted he had, so we agreed on a start date and price...the Thursday before my Saturday event. Wednesday i texted him and was assured everything was good for the next day. Thursday I don't hear anything from him until 6pm when he tells me they will be there Friday first thing. Friday morning rolls around, I text him at 10:30 and noon to check in...no response. 3:30 comes and I finally get a call that they are coming now and will finish Friday afternoon. I get home around 5pm to find a single guy blowing leaves around my yard. 15 minutes goes by and he starts to pack up, so I stop him to find out why he hasn't raked, bagged, or mowed like we agreed too. He claims not to speak good English but assures me Jose is coming with the truck to vacuum up the leaves in 20 minutes and they can finish on Saturday. This is complete BS so my 9 months pregnant wife who speaks fluent Spanish waddles out and start an in dept conversation about what still needs to be done and what was promised. In the meantime I am calling Jose for some form of explanation, but he declines all of my calls. After he reluctantly agrees to hand rake the front yard we go back inside to "wait" for Jose...not as soon as we close the door does this kid toss his rake in the truck and haul ass. Little surprise, Jose never showed. Did he show up Saturday either? Of-course not. Sunday morning at 10am he has a truck pull up to "finish" the job they never started. I enjoyed watching the puzzled look on their faces while they stood in front of a decently manicured lawn for 20 minutes not understanding what to do next. At 7pm on Friday night I gave up on Jose, put on my "fuck-it" gloves and spent the next 8 hours(5 hours that night and 3 starting at 7am the next morning) raking and bagging leaves, mowing, trimming, and cleaning the yard myself. Long story short, if you want to lied to and dismissed call Jose. If you want to have your property landscaped by a professional, call someone else. read more

I had contacted Anito(owner of Jose De La Cruz), for an estimate and he was prompt to provide the estimate on 4/12/19. Came over despite traffic and rain driving over an hour. He gave an estimate and i had requested i needed to get the work done by following Tuesday at 9AM as I was going out of town for few weeks. He agreed. Fast forward to today, Tuesday, 04/16/19. At 9AM, no show. 10AM, nothing. I made four calls, no response. I also texted, no response. He could've had little courtesy to inform me that either he cannot do the job or why he did not show up. I had taken a day off from work so I could be around if he needs anything while his crew does the job. I guess some people just don't care about customer's loss. I'm sorry to have to write a review like this. I had high hopes after reading about the quality of their work and reasonable rates, but I can't even rate the quality of their work. They made appointments to come for an estimate THREE TIMES and canceled each time. One excuse was that the boss was called out of town. Ok, things happen. Next one was that they had to be there to receive a delivery. Not a super urgent job, so I can roll with it. Today, they messaged me to cancel a third time. When pressed for a reason, they did not have an answer. I can only assume that they cancel appointments for smaller jobs if bigger ones come along. If this is not the case, then they are simply terribly unprofessional in their dealings with customers, regardless of how good their work might be. They clearly need some administrative help in scheduling. Very disappointing. read more

I'm disappointed to have to give a less than stellar review, but I can not recommend this company and won't be using them again. Their lack of professionalism and respect for customers is a real turn off. After I reached out to Jose and he said he could do my yard project "next week," I didn't hear back from him for weeks. When we finally did set a time to meet, Jose showed up nearly an hour early, banging on the door, ringing the doorbell, and repeatedly calling, all in the middle of a videoconference (like many, I am working from home). I texted Jose to let him know I was in a meeting until the time we set to meet. The people I was meeting with were forgiving, but it was very disruptive. When my meeting concluded, Jose was nowhere to be found. I called to see if he was coming back, and he said he was too far away heading to meeting with another client. He was annoyed with me and said his other clients don't mind him being early, so I shouldn't mind either. He had made plans to meet another client and needed to meet me early and didn't see any reason to contact me in advance. Essentially, if I want to work with him, I have to make myself available whenever it works for him, no matter what we agreed in advance. Clearly, Jose has more business than he needs, so I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. If you don't mind him showing up when it suits him, and treating you like you work for him, Jose is a good match. But if you're busy with a tight schedule and prefer to be treated like a customer, I'd suggest finding a more professional contractor. read more

We needed some repairs on our deck due to rotted wood so we asked him to work on this instead. To say he did a great job on this project is an understatement!! We are very happy with Jose's work installing riprap along the bank of a stormwater channel that borders our property. He completed the work for a quarter of the price that a larger company quoted us at. We ended up needing quite a bit more stone than originally anticipated, but Jose communicated with us throughout the project and put us at ease. On the final day, he was accommodating to our last-minute requests about the orientation and placement of some of the stones near the mouth of the channel. The final product is excellent. We no longer need to worry about the top layer of our yard eroding away every year! We definitely plan to work with him again for future landscaping needs. read more
