Shrimp tacos with mango and shredded cabbage
Sue D.

I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were amazing! Everything was fresh and the shrimp were cooked just right. Well seasoned. The price has gone up but that's understandable with our economy today. I have taken notice that the serving seems bigger. The restaurant was clean and the service was excellent. I was given a large portion of chips and salsa. I live close by and this restaurant is convenient for me.

California Burrito with Steak, Mexican Enchiladas in the back.

We have lived right around the corner fron Guad's for several years, and popped in tonight on a whim in need of an easy last minute dinner option. I didn't have high expectations but we had a wonderful experience. All staff members we interacted with were SO nice, and so sweet interacting with our son. The food was also pretty solid. I got the California Burrito with steak, and while I'm certainly no expert in either burritos or Mexican food in general, I really enjoyed it. The steak was tender and there was a ton of flavor between the fillings and the queso/red sauce on top. We ordered the kids plate with a beef quesadilla for my son, which he enjoyed when he took a long enough pause from the chips and queso haha. We could not figure out how the bill for our whole family was under $40, but I've since discovered that kids eat free on Thursdays! The kids plate wasn't expensive to start with, but that's a major draw that will definitely have us back again. The restaurant is pretty large and seems like they could easily accomodate a larger party. It's pretty no-frills inside, but that doesn't really matter for a solid neighborhood spot. Definitely give them a chance if you're in the vicinity!

Carnitas

I ordered carnitas and it should've came with the lettuce salad, rice and beans. I also mentioned in the instructions to substitute the beans for a rice cuz I just do can't with the beans. But obviously they didn't deliver. They have impeccable service when you eat in their restaurant but they need to care more for the takeout so people like us will get what we paid for and not be disappointed.

Steak Nachos steak

The place is very cute and welcoming when you walk inside. Service from quick, staff very friendly and quick. My daughter and I ordered the steak nachos to share and the meat and flavor was yummy. We added the lettuce tomatoes at cream and guacamole on the side only suggestion is to not be so heavy handed with the lettuce it drowns out the flavor of everything else. Over all a great experience and when I go to Norfolk I'll like visit again.

Solid 3.5 for value. Taco Tuesday! $1.25 hard or soft / chicken or beef tacos, $2 Tecate's, $2.50 house tequila shots, $2.50 chicken or beef fajita taco. Happy hour from 4-7p too. I actually think the beef tacos are better than the (pulled) chicken, mostly because of flavor and texture; chicken are also runny. Free chips and red salsa. Queso dip is extra but pretty good. Parking can be tough when busy; also impacts service speed. Lots of other options to choose from (see menu pics).

Steak Mexicano, $12.99, grilled rib-eye with grilled onions, green peppers, and tomatoes. Served with rice, beans and 3 tortillas

Stopped in for lunch and was seated and served quickly and by a very pleasant staff. Ordered a Modelo Michelada off the menu and the bartender knew just how to whip a great one up, forewarning me that she tended to make them spicier than most - fine by me. Portion wise, the Steak Mexicano at $12.99 was decent bang for the buck however the meat itself was pretty fatty..ended up cutting away about a 1/6 of it that would have made the difference between feeling genuinely satisfied at the end and having to keep munching on tortilla chips after finishing my entree. Overall, didn't really leave with any lasting positive impression...but no lasting negative impressions either. I'll probably try exploring other Mexican places in the area before coming back to Guads but it certainly isn't off my list yet.

Our server came to the table quickly and brought chips and salsa and took our drink orders. The menu was plentiful and prices were reasonable. They have a nice little happy hour menu. Food service was timely and everything tasted good. Things I didn't love: The noise level is a bit loud. Certainly great for large groups and families, but not an intimate, low noise environment. The ambiance is bright lighting with white tile floors. I suppose I enjoy an aesthetic that is not so stark and bright. On the plus side, it was clean!

I live about 30+ mins away but I remember the food being very good last time, so I didn't mind the drive at all. We were greeted by the host as soon as we walked in and were seated right away. Our server was wonderful. She was very pleasant and helped us with some of the questions we had regarding the menu items. We started with the Fresh Tableside Guacamole and it tasted great! We did order it with a "medium" spice level and it wasn't spicy at all but other than that, it was very good. Since the Street Tacos caught our eye, we both decided on those. We ordered the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Carnitas, Chorizo, Camarón, Nopales and Lengua. The tacos were served with a variety of different sauces, ranging from sweet and mild to very spicy. Most of the tacos were delicious, our favorite was the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and Camarón. We weren't a fan of the Lengua, it was very dry, chewy and unflavored. Overall, we had a great experience. Our margaritas were amazing as well! I love the vibe of this restaurant and the food and service is always wonderful.
