The chips tasted old oil and not fresh food was ok, did not beat my expectations but the margarita was excellent

No matter what location I go to every location steps up to the plate and never disappoints. This has become my go to place whenever I am in the mood for Mexican food. The food is always super fast, fresh, and affordable. Don't get me started on the drink menu, if you've ever been there then you know. I will be back every other week or as often as I can because I simply love this place. Mango Mojito's and queso dip and chips is my go to. They are always piping hot and fresh. Also if I am in the mood for a larger entrée I opt for the chicken bacon and spinach dish with rice and queso. If you have not tried it please do. The portions however are insane! When I do order my favorite entrée I normally share it with someone at home. Keep being awesome, and I will continue to visit! read more

Place was busy and had one bar tender. I sat at the bar to get in and out since I was traveling for business. Ordered a mojito. Was one of the best I ever had in my 30 years of drinking them. Basket of chips salsa and another dip arrived within seconds. I was famished from not eating all day and a long work day. Within 6 chips my order of fajitas arrived. Ample servings and I have to admit as good as the foot was hot and baby the plates were steaming. Overall one of my favorite restaurants I have been too this year. Y'all need to try it. read more

I used to love Plaza but once I tried Jose tequilas ... no comparison! Their rice and beans are to die for and the avocado tacos are amazing. I love Jose Tequila's. It had been a hot minute (try 4 years) since I was there last, and it's just the way I remember it! Good food, good vibes, friendly staff, and just a really enjoyable place to have a meal. I went in and was sat within seconds of my arrival. The waiter was friendly, kind, and checked in on me often but not too often. I ordered a chicken chimichanga (chicken, cheese, potatoes) and it came with refried beans, lettuce, rice, and a dollop of sour cream. They brought over some chips, salsa, and what is the BEST queso I've ever had. The salsa was super fresh and had the perfect kick to it; the queso was spicy and had a little hint of sweetness that balanced it out. The chips are incredible; they reminded me of my favorite Mexican restaurant back home. On a different visit, I went in and asked if I could get a piece of tres leches cake to go. It came in the cutest little tin and was topped with rainbow sprinkles. It wasn't too sweet, which was fantastic! The perfect late night snack. read more

Not a lot to say here. Stopped in for lunch. Our waiter was good and probably the best part of the experience. The chimichangas we ordered were fried, but the only way I could tell was by examining it visually. Not crisp at all. Flavor was fine but nothing to make us want to return. Loved this experience! The decor is gorgeous and there's SO MANY food options - including vegetarian options and low fat options. They have awesome margaritas and beer options. I ordered the guaco tacos - delicious would definitely order again. My husband ordered a mango margarita - so yum! They were able to seat us pretty quick - told us 30 minutes but it was more like 15 mins. Chips and salsa were yummy too! Pricing is average and worth the price no doubt. Only negative is this place is crowded. There's not a single table social distanced and every table was full. People were packed into this restaurant and many people weren't wearing masks, including staff. Wish they would improve this during COVID-19 to make guests feel comfortable. read more

After an exhausting day of walking around historic Williamsburg, VA in 92+ degree heat, we were in dire need of ice water, good food and air conditioning. We used Yelp to look for some local places to eat, we pulled into one restaurant to see they had three stars, so we pulled out and continued on. When we saw Jose Tequilas had 4+ stars, we knew we needed to give them a try. We had six people in our party, my family of five and my niece who is six. We were greeted immediately and given a booth large enough to accommodate us. Drink orders were taken and our waiter was prompt to return with drinks and take our order. We went straight to entree orders and our food was brought out quickly, which is generally one of the best things about Mexican food. Unbelievably, I ordered the Grande Sampler. I knew in advance I wouldn't eat all of it, but I really wanted a Taco, Burrito and Chile Relleno. I tried the Taco first, and I loved the flavor of the beef, all in all this was a great taco. The Burrito and Relleno were both well prepared, but honestly, I've had better. If I'm being perfectly honest, I have a thing for Coconut Cake and their dessert display cabinet hooked me on trying a piece. I saved room for dessert and ordered a piece, I don't think I've had coconut cake with cream cheese icing so that was a bit odd. The cake itself was on the dry side, but they served it with ice cream and whip cream which helped with the dryness. In the end, I split it with the four kids and called it a day. Everything was good, and we didn't have any complaints with the food or the service. Really, really enjoyed Jose Tequilas. My family and I are visiting Busch Gardens from Northern Virginia where we have very limited Mexican food options. JT's was such a pleasant surprise. My kids just had cheese quesadillas, but my wife ordered the Pollo Chipotle which was smoky, savory, and slightly sweet from being roasted with tomatoes. I had the Macho Combo - which was a taco, enchilada, tamale, and stuffed poblano pepper. Only complaint was there was too much cheese smothering everything but the beef and chicken fillings of each component were outstanding. All in we spent $55, which is pretty reasonable compared to northern Virginia prices. I'd definitely recommend Jose Tequilas and will be back next time I'm in Williamsburg! read more

Delicious!!! We had a wonderful time. There was so much food for lunch we took half home for dinner. I had the Mahi Fillet. The sauce on it was so good. It was also on the veggies. Ok. Don't quote understand why this place has decent reviews. I'll give it 3.5 stars for attmosphere but 2 for food 4 for service Overall it comes down to the food for me and I find 7 Mares and La Tecca superior I ordered their Mole Ranchero.... First it was chicken ( who does Mole with chicken???) second it was more like BBQ with a orange/Red sauce ....strange....plus it was very bland My wife ordered their Chorizo Mexicano again very bland and not appealing at all. The mixed drinks were awesome! I had the Prickly Pear Margarita and would order it again and again. The bartender was awesome and kept everyone happy with drinks. The food needed some help sadly. My husband ordered chicken nachos. It ended up being bland (maybe little Chile powder) chicken, chips and little bit of cheese. I was so excited they have Mexican Street Corn! I was so disappointed - roasted corn, queso, lime and chili powder. The sauce was basically mayonnaise but there was almost no chili powder. Those ingredients MAKE Mexican street corn unique. My father's ordered El Magnifico Combo Dinner - the Beef chimichanga was so dry that it stuck in his throat. So my mom ate it instead with extra sour cream and salsa. Was in the area for a conference with some colleagues and decided to stop by here for lunch. They have an extensive menu. Lunch specials from 11:00am to 3pm. Everyone of us enjoyed our dishes. Few of us got the sour cream enchiladas and really liked it. It was delicious! The burrito bowl was good also and my friend was glad she got that. Used to love this place, I do not know what happened. The menu is now extremely limited. We got the trio dip, the bean dip tasted weird in a bad way. I am not sure if it was canned or beginning to sour. My children who also used to like it decided they would pass on ordering a meal. I ordered 1 one single tamale and it was tasteless, (I grew up in Houston, always eating at my Mexican friends' house), that was a taste free tamale. They said the grill was broken, perhaps warn people or put a sign on the door before you waste people's time and money with off putting tasteless crap. If you're worried they may walk away because of the sign and you make no money today, it seems worse if they unknowingly come in today, have this bad experience and NEVER come back plus your reputation is in the toilet because they share their terrible experience on social media, you lose waaay more. We had a fabulous dinner and service at Jose Tequila tonight. Our party of nine (three adults and six younger people) were seated quickly. Everyone loved their meals. The Molcajete and the Carne Asada were amazing. Many options for drinks, and of course, the margaritas were delicious. This is a must stop... the corn flour tortillas are as close to authentic mexican that ive ever had state side...i woke up dreaming about the taste...no exaggeration...i demolished the mexico city, with great soft corn tortilla and stuffed fat with meats, the guacmole salad that came with my rice and beans was killer too...my other half had half of her burrito, she loved it but it was too big...the kids menu had plenty of selection for our picky 12 yo so it was all good...my other half had their "medium" size prickly pear margarita...she was lit off one...easy on the pocket too, without her 15 dollar drink...i encourged another :)...we would have been outta there on $50 w/o tip read more

After an 11 hour drive from Ohio we were starving! We ordered monster margaritas. Whoa!!! They are the size of someone's head! Awesome!! One was peach and the other champagne guava flavored. The peach was definitely more sweet but not too much. The champagne guava was ok. Chips & salsa was really good. They serve some type of cheese or cream base sauce with the chips and salsa.
