The food is good but they allow drunk customers from other bars to come in and play loins music. On top of that they only have two people working so you get seated slow (as in people have just seated themselves) and getting your drinks and food takes forever. We are from out of town. My boyfriend is working here for 6 months. We've been wanting to try the place out. He came once by himself & the experience was not that great, but I wanted to give it a try. There was no one in the restaurant we actually thought they were closed, but the sweet girl at the door reassured us it was fine to eat. She was awesome I didn't catch her name, but she was pregnant and a sweet heart. The food was super salty. The steak was cooked perfectly, but the seasoning was weird. The mashed potatoes were so salty they were almost not edible. I had a beer and my boyfriend had tea he was charged for a refill of tea, maybe that's something that is done here but I was taken back By that. The best thing on the table was the asparagus. $100 later & I would not come back. The place was clean and the bathrooms were nice! Oh my lord... Iam not quite sure why this is called a steakhouse! I've been to a number of steakhouses and by far, this is the worst! And I really hate to say that because I wanted to support a local business near us as we just moved out of Austin city limits into manor, but I am disappointed to say the least. I will say the atmosphere was great and the servers were really nice. But the steak was so bad. I asked for medium and got well over, well done. Basically a hamburger. It was very long wait times, almost 40 minutes for our food, and it was not busy. I really really wished I could've said it was delicious, but unfortunately far from- not only was the steak not cooked properly, it wasn't tasteful at all. I could've cooked a steak like that on my stove top! But wanted a "steakhouse" steak! So sad that we couldn't find a better steakhouse near us- we will not be returning. read more

Good food, nice place, affordable steak house in Elgin. Loved the salmon and mashed potatoes. Had the t-bone and it was average. Elevate it with a little sizzle/iron crust. Key lime was good too. Ok, so we went back this week as we have it in our rotation. This time, we each got 1/2 pound burger. Again mashed potatoes and asparagus. Now that's a burger. Very good. Been craving a good thick burger and this was it. $10 includes the side. Definitely will dine in or carry out the burger more often. read more

Our favorite steakhouse is closed due to COVID so we decided to give Joseph's a shot. Wow! Both of our steaks were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I could *almost* cut my tenderloin with a butter knife. Service was also excellent - Christian took great care of us and was family by the end of the night. Great steakhouse! We had a ribeye with au gratin potatoes and a filet minon with asparagus. We also each had a side salad. Fresh bread was served with garlic butter. This was a delicious start to the meal. The salads were large and fresh with mixed greens, carrots, tomatoes, and croutons. The steaks were served perfectly done and seasoned nicely. They were also very tender. The sides with each were done perfectly. The service was attentive but not intrusive. This is a hidden gem (with cloth napkins but not a stuffy dress code). As an Elgin native, I appreciate having a nicer dining option right here in town. This was my first experience at Joseph's and I enjoyed it overall. The food was good and the atmosphere is nice. I still remember this place as Morelia's Mexican Restaurant back in the day so I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and see the rustic, cowboy charm. The white table linens are a nice touch that definitely give you the feel of a steakhouse. For a small town restaurant they have the ambience factor down. I will say the service was quite slow with not that many tables to wait on in the first place. And like I said, the food was good but I would want to try more on the menu to really get a taste of this place. read more

Joseph's has been in business over a year, so I figured they were doing something right. I had some company visiting so I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try a new restaurant. I did check out the web site, and the owner seemed pretty responsive. Arrived on a Saturday a little after 6:00 PM. There were patrons but it was not busy by any means. We were seated, and hot bread was brought to the table...so far so good. Atmosphere was average at best, nothing special. The waitress came to the table and took our drink order, and returned shortly with our drinks. She came back and we placed our order. We waited, and waited, and waited, glasses empty, bread just about gone. Patrons came and went. I flagged down our waitress, and she seemed like she could care less. She wasn't busy, she just didn't care. I asked her if I needed to help feed the cow...as I figured they were still growing it from a calf... I asked for more tea... She disappeared...I could see her moving around the restaurant, taking care of other customers...not a care in the world. She finally brought our food. Rib eyes are thin, baked potato puny, but the salad and bread were good. When she brought the food, I asked for more bread. I was almost done eating by the time the bread was brought to the table...and she did not bring it. We waited and waited and waited for the check...I finally got the check. I was not going to give her a tip. She did not deserve a tip. She got a flat 10%. I am a big tipper, she could have easily gotten a 35-40% tip....if she had earned it. Sad... Average atmosphere, average food, poor service. Not worth the money. I sent the owner an email, and he never responded. So, my review goes here. Will not go back. read more

11/13/2020 I went today for my first time and this will definitely be one of my frequent restaurants that I go to. The inside was very clean, the staff was very pleasant and attentive. I ordered the fillet mignon, mashed potatoes with a side order of grilled shrimp. I order my steak well done. The steak was cooked to order and very moist. The wait staff was exceptional! They were the epitome of team players. The decor looked straight out of the Old West. The food - WOW, so good! I normally get mayonnaise or ketchup on a burger, but the burger was so juicy that it didn't need it. My husband got the ribeye with mushrooms and onions. It was melt in your mouth delicious! We came into the restaurant and waited 45 minutes for our food. I ordered an Arnold Palmer. It had something black floating in it. I showed it to the waitress. She apologized and said she didn't know what it was. She then brought me another drink which had something even bigger and nastier looking floating in it. We have been wanting to go to this place for awhile - we're in Hutto and my in-laws are in Elgin, so a nice full-service restaurant was a welcome addition to the area. My in-laws love the place, and say they visit often for lunch and are very happy with the food. All four of us went recently for dinner on Mother's Day, and my husband and I both left thinking the place was very average. The server was nice, but very inexperienced and didn't know much about the menu. When we asked if they had beer and wine she said 'yes' and just stared at us - not rudely at all, just spacey. We asked to see the beer and wine menu, she brought the wine menu, but for beers they didn't have a menu and she said 'we pretty much just have all the beers'. Ha! Anyways - the food was fine, nothing amazing to us. We all got ribeyes, which were very broad and thin; I like a thicker cut, but they have giant plates so I wonder if they strategically cut the steaks that way to fill the plate. All steaks were cooked as ordered, and seasoned just fine. We got au gratin potatoes and Mac and cheese, which were again fine. Nothing was amazing, but we left full. I didn't think the prices were as fantastic as everyone has raved about -$18 for a 12oz ribeye and one side didn't impress me. Honestly, I'd rather have gone to a Longhorn Steakhouse instead - the vibe is almost identical but more upbeat, the steak cuts are better, and the prices are very similar. It's a fine place if you're in the area, and we're certainly willing to try it again, but only if the in-laws suggest it. read more

Wow! A hidden gem in Elgin. We don't go out to eat often unless we're on vacation. This particular visit was because my wife's mother was in town for a before Christmas visit and we were starving. It was a Sunday evening about 6:30pm and there were only 3 other tables occupied. We ordered the bacon wrapped medallions as an appetizer (4pcs) and they were scrumptious. My wife had the shrimp scampi - mom had the 12oz ribeye with steamed broccoli and cauliflower and I had the 8oz fillet with the potatoes au gratin. Everything was absolutely delicious! The place has good food and good drinks. Lemon drop is where it's at. The fall off the bone ribs are my favorite. Asparagus is perfect. The steak quality is good and matches the price. The menu is well priced. Affordable for the area. The problem I have is the service. One day we go in and the chef is doing everything! Serving, cooking, bar.... Another day there are 3 customers and two servers but it still takes forever. You can't blame covid because it was very long waits for drinks, and your check, bread etc before covid. No one seems overly friendly. It's all business and that ok but get to business. There is potential to be Elgin's favorite spot but they have to adequately staff. read more

Quite steakhouse and that was great for us and our friends. We could hear each other throughout the meal. My had the ribeye and I had the porterhouse pork chop both were done to our liking in the inside. No leftovers. The Yokun mashed potatoes great too. Only downside was the mashed potatoes was small to me. I ate most of the chop without steak sauce... I am fatty meat eater... I ran out of chop seasoning. read more
