    Tajadas Verdes - Plantain Chips

We got our food diverted by Uber Eats. It arrived on time. This places provides great food and great value. The Palomilla Bistec is a huge steak was so good. The sautéed onions really enhanced the favor. I was surprised on how late the steak was given the price of the meal. We replaced the rice and beans with plantain chips. They also provided a lot of plantain chips. The Chicken burrito was the other item ordered and it was also very good. The burrito is large and a full meal. No need for sides if you are eating this. It comes with both sour cream and guacamole. You can taste the key lime in the guacamole. It gives it a tangy yummy flavor.

The food was good, nothing extraordinary. For the price I would have wished they didn't skimp out on the meat for the tacos and that it was just overall more portion/taste (sides included in a 18$ meal would be nice). Whole family enjoyed it overall. We did have to keep asking the server for water, but they were pretty attentive in asking us how our food was and if we needed anything. The ambiance is just chill, no real vibe other than the Nicaraguan food/people. Clean, friendly.

Fabulous stop for lunch! Looks like they're moving so the decor on the inside of this location I visited (on Truman) was noticeably absent (-1 star for appearance). Hoping the new spot has a better appeal for tables, decor etc. However despite this I still give them 5 stars for the food and service! I ordered the Al Pastor tacos and they were some of the best I've had in a long time. VERY flavorful and the house made hot sauce and guacamole were even better additions. As you can see my tacos were practically swimming in cilantro and onion so I did have to take off quite a bit to eat the tacos (if only you could see how perfect the Al pastor was with its chunks of pineapple and loads of seasoning!) I'd have taken another pic if I didn't consume my tacos beforehand (oops! I was hungry and they were delicious!). The server recommended their house made Agua Fresca with tamarind and chia seeds and wow! I'm so glad I ordered it! I heard great things about the fresh passionfruit aqua fresca as well... I can't wait to come back and check them out at their new location when I visit key west and try other menu items.

I saw this restaurant on one of our trolley tours. I strongly recommend it. Great atmosphere, great staff, great service and the food was amazing. Try the fry cheese. If you like cheese, you'll love the fried cheese. I had the churrasco steak and my wife had the pork ribs. Two huge ribs and she couldn't finish her plate. All and all this place is a hidden gem if you enjoy Hispanic food.

Wow! Amazing Tacos I get the chicken, pork pastor & steak. The sweet plantains and homemade hot sauces are great. My favorite place for breakfast lunch or dinner.

Came here because it was close to our hotel and I was craving Latin food. This was mostly Nicaraguan food with a mix of the other Latin foods. Tasted just like when I went to Nicaragua and like a Nicaraguan restaurant we have in my hometown of Galveston. I recently lost a dear Nicaraguan friend so coming here felt good and reminded me of him. Food was hot and piping and a very generous. We had enough for lunch the next day. Even the corn tortillas were homemade. So happy to have eaten here

Complete surprise when we found this place. Believe it or not we had to find medical equipment and then decided to have breakfast. This place was across the street and so we decided to try it. What a great surprise! The food was straight out of grandmas kitchen good!! We chose chorizo and didn't regret it. Clean place, meticulously cleaned between customers and very good food! Come try it!!! You will not regret it!

Amazing food great flavors! Will go back for sure! Amazing plantain dishes and quick service!

So/So. Expensive for the mediocre atmosphere and quality of cuisine . There are lots of Mexican restaurants that are better and cheaper

Our research told us that this would be a great meal and it truly was. I ordered the pork chunks, which were perfectly fried and so flavorful and tender on the inside. My wife ordered Ropa Vieja which was pulled beef, which wasn't as good, but still quite tasty. Had to bring food back home with us, which we ate for various snacks before we departed. Fast food and a nice hidden gem in the town. Glad we had this kick off our trip.

The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dinner for two, including dessert and tip, came to about $100 -- a great value for the quality and quantity of food. El Siboney remains one of my favorite places to eat in Key West.

Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. If there's one dish I highly recommend, it's the churrasco (skirt steak) served with rice, beans, and sweet plantains. The steak was incredibly juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. If you're wondering what to order, get the churrasco--you won't regret it. Amazing service! The restaurant itself has a fun atmosphere with beautiful Cuban-inspired décor throughout the dining room that adds to the experience. They also serve Hatuey, a Cuban-style lager brewed by Bacardí, which pairs perfectly with the meal and is worth trying if you've never had it before. From the delicious food to the welcoming atmosphere and convenient location, El Meson de Pepe delivers a fantastic Cuban dining experience. Blech! Food tasted horrible…read more Been here to their food truck at Smathers Beach a few times over the years. It was often the only food truck there, so it was my only option. But what i had was never any good. I once ordered a hot dog. It was so nasty tasting I didn't finish it. It was like grade D meat, worse than the worst school lunch bologna meat sandwich you ever had as a kid. Worst hot dog ever. There's no excuse for serving the cheapest kind of hot dog like that. I once got the scrambled eggs with ham. One side of the styrofoam container consisted of a plain flat omelet that maybe had 2 small eggs in it, with a strip of super-cheap sandwich-style ham lying on top, the kind that is rectangular and comes in a package with water collecting in the corners. The other side, which was more generous, was just rice and beans. It was like they threw in the bare amount of eggs and ham and then added cheap rice and beans to fill the container. None of the food tasted very good or anything. It was just so plain and cheap and generic. I was expecting a ham omelet I could smother with salsa and dig into. Got the BLT once; same deal. Barely any bacon, huge piece of inappropriate-sized bread that overwhelmed everything (it was ciabatta or something, as I recall). It was basically eating shredded lettuce and a white, unripe tomato slice on bread, with a sliver of overcooked dried out bacon. That was the final straw. Maybe I should have tried the Latin food, but I decided I'd given them a fair chance, over three years, and they aren't any good. It also takes like 10 minutes for them to make anything. There was always a long wait. Plus the guy seemed to confuse me with someone else. He was like, "You know your order? You going to be ready?" while I was standing in line, like I had held it up the day before or something. If I go back to Smathers, I'll either eat first, bring my own, or go to another place if it's there.
