My twin 2 year old boys have been coming to JLD for over 4 months. They have different personalities and needs, but they are both making very good progress. Their speech therapist Ms. Viry Delgadillo is very caring, attentive and observant. She sees the strengths and challenges of each child and customizes her approach accordingly. She is very patient with my kids, and I can see that they truly enjoy their session time with her. She is also very good at describing the whats, hows and whys of her approach to me, and training me (the parent) so that we can play/interact with our kids at home in a way that improves their verbal and non-verbal communication. read more

This place is terrible they either have too many people on wait list or they have too many clients that they want to accommodate All the schedulers are screwed up, they directly canceled my kids sessions without informing me and when I asked them they offered me to schedule other sessions. Why the hell would I do that and on top this I was told manager is not available to talk, I will get a call from the manager whenever it's available. This is how these guys run a business. Our 4 years old kiddo have been attending JLDTHERAPY for a few months now. I can honestly say it's been a game changer for our family and my little girl. She love going to JLDTHERAPY and always look forward seeing the therapist! She currentLy have Speech (Mrs. Shreya), Speech (Make up session with Mrs. Carolina), OT (Mr. Chris & Ms. Jamie) and Feeding (Mrs. Priscilla). Our girl now know how to use the word "Yes" & before everything was "No, no, no!" She also is better with transitioning from one subject to another. She can now take off her socks and shoes all by herself, wear a jacket & keep it on! She also is able to wear her mask (Covid-19 pandemic) for a short period of time!! We never were able to get her to put on a mask. She also has less meltdowns.. In feeding therapy she is now more willing to touch and smell the food. We love this place!! I can go on and on but would like to point out a few things we are so proud of. Also a shout out to all the front desk staff (Selena, Rosa, Cici, Betsa, Alyssa, just to name a few) The ladies are all so wonderful! The therapists are good but the reception staff is slow as hell, also if you cancel you have to pay $50 which makes no sense because our appointment was originally canceled by JLD for some technical issues and was moved to another day so on the day of the makeup appointment something came up and I called to cancel but I was told that I'll be charged $50 which is absolutely ridiculous because the original appointment was canceled by them. So basically even during COVID days if your child wakes up with a fever you can't cancel the appointment coz of you do you'll be charged $50, the options they give for makeup sessions are usually early in the morning which doesn't work because kids have online school, they hardly have any availability in the evening. So disappointed right now as a parent of an autistic child when life is already very hard companies like this make it even harder. read more

It's been almost a year since my 7yr old son started Speech therapy with Rachel and OT with Andrea. He started these services with JLD during COVID so this meant virtual therapy. I was very hesitant to do virtual therapy since he was already doing virtual school and now he was going to have to stare at the screen for another hour. I was so impressed on how they motivated my son to participate on all the virtual activities. I was so happy to see all the progress he was making just by doing Virtual Sessions with them. Once he started in person his progress has not stopped. I feel like it's something new every time he comes out there (JLDs) door. I'm a very happy mama!! read more

This is long over due. My son started with JLD at the start of covid back in April. He started with online sessions with Shreya and he eventually went to in person once it was available. Jennifer Alva-Lewis was instrumental to our sanity and our daughter's ability to eat! From day one we could never get her latch at the breast and she would start screaming if we even attempted, so we accepted that she preferred to be bottle fed. After a couple of weeks around the 1 month mark it became very evident that she didn't like the bottle either and she started having some major bottle aversions. Leaving us to spend hours trying to get her to take even an ounce. In doing some of my own research and knowing there is family history of tongue ties we brought this up to our pediatrician but were shrugged off "because she can stick her tongue out" and "I have never seen a tongue release fix anything." We had to self advocate and find our own Pediatric Dentist and were on an extremely long waiting list (5 months long) with Stanford to even get evaluated even though we were listed as urgent. Because of the lack of support from our pediatrician it took until she was 3.5 months old before we could be seen by the dentist who immediately determined she did have a posterior tongue tie and performed the release. We told him that we did not have any end in sight with finding an occupational therapist when he recommended us to Jennifer. By that afternoon she was on the phone with me and providing me with helpful tips and solutions to try and help us feed her until we could meet with her in person for an evaluation. Once we were able to meet with Jennifer we were instantly vindicated that she was indeed struggling to use her tongue in a way that she could be successful with eating or even feel safe to eat. She had a lot of "bottle trauma" that set us on a long path of retraining both us and her how to eat and love the bottle. With her guidance and exercises we now have a completely different baby. If you did not know the issues she had you would never guess it today. She now knows what she wants, when she wants it, and how to get it. We owe that entirely to Jennifer's work with us. Our daughter loved her time there in therapy and we as parents were very sad when she told us that we had graduated and wouldn't need to come in every week anymore. However, this is where I also throw a nod to Jennifer who has continued to provide support when needed even after graduation. She has written a guide for us to send to daycare as well as given us a clear path on the next stage of our food journey with starting solids. With all of this said we highly recommend Jennifer to anyone and everyone that may be struggling with their little and feeding issues. We loved our time with her and know she will continue to do wonders for all the children she gets to work with. read more

Sharon Hsu has been my daughter's speech therapist. She is an amazing therapist and very cheery and very good with kids. I saw lots of improvements in my daughter after seeing her. She has a very positive attitude. And even if it's a negative feedback about my daughter she does it in a very positive way which is very encouraging for parents. As a parent of a speech delay child that means a lot. I would definitely recommend her. read more

This review is long overdue! My son sees Cindy for feeding therapy and Alex for speech therapy and these therapists are not only extremely warm, playful and caring to my child, they are experts when it comes to the different realms of speech therapy. Alex allows my child to lead the sessions based upon his interests in play. She observes him, allows him to blossom and inspires him to communicate for a wonderful play-based session. She is always ready to answer any questions and always brings up my son's speech goals when I inquire about what we can focus on at home to continue his therapy. My son also adores Cindy and literally walks off with her as soon as we walk in the door. During feeding therapy, he allows her to work with his mouth, face, allows her to work with his oral motor awareness with ease as she integrates so much playful interaction with him. We've found a wonderful team at JLD and we're very happy with the immediate results of our son receiving therapy 2x a week! read more

I am so happy with the therapy that my son is receiving from JLD. Especially from Lauren. Lauren has such a great attitude and really understands how these children work. The facility is located in the horrible neighborhood with homeless sleeping under the stairs etc. people smoking on the first floor, so the smoke were coming inside the room during the session. their air conditioner does not work, so we had sessions in the room with temperature of 58 f inside the room. The place is outdated, everything is falling apart. The bathroom is very dirty. The waiting room is small. The ot therapist was friendly, but I felt like she did not make any individualized plan for my child's needs. She never send me the materials I was asking her to send me through email. The only one ot I really liked was the young man (Michael?), he was following all my child's interests and made him perform all task without pushing etc., so my son really enjoyed time spent with him. The scheduling process should be changed too. They can only schedule 2 weeks in advance, so sometimes we didn't receive the time we needed. Sometimes instead of 1 h session they offered us 30 min and the time was not convenient for my son's schedule with 20h aba a week. read more

My daughter developed an oral aversion from a prolonged hospitalization. We learned this just days before she was discharged and I felt completely lost having to navigate this new, unexpected diagnosis. I was told from the hospital she should "get over it soon" and was sent home with NG tube supplies and an appointment with an OT 4 weeks later. They were not able to schedule us sooner and I soon learned that it would be difficult to get on a consistent feeding therapy schedule with them. So I looked to Yelp and found JLD Therapy. We were connected with a feeding therapist, Jennifer Alva Lewis. From our initial conversation I already felt we were making the right step forward. She was warm and understanding and helped me to understand my daughter's emotional cause to her aversion and that it was actually quite common for patients with her history. She also helped me set realistic expectations, that there were no tricks that would magically enable her to feed by mouth again. That it would be a process that would take a lot of work, but I felt confident that Jennifer would help us get there. When we first met Jennifer in July, my daughter had a fear and mistrust of people from her experience in the hospital so she would not let Jennifer get too close to her. Jennifer was very respectful of her boundaries and would always let my daughter take the lead and follow her cues. With each weekly appointment, my daughter would get more and more comfortable and now she looks forward to seeing Jennifer every week. When we first started this journey, my daughter would not let anything but her fingers touch her mouth and would be visibly uncomfortable at the sight of food near her. We have made great progress since then, she is now happily touching food and learning the skill of feeding herself...all with the support of Jennifer guiding us and cheering her on. We are so lucky to have found Joy and Laughter. My son had serious issues as soon as we started solid foods. We visited half a dozen doctors and specialists. After all sorts of tests and consultations with GIs and ENTs our pediatrician recommended feeding therapy. Jennifer is awesome. She has worked with my son for several months and now he is eating all sorts of new foods. He loves visiting Miss Jennifer and has developed a strong bond with her. We got reffered to her by kaiser My son's dr was concerned because he wasn't hitting his milestone. She help us with hand/eye coordination, and we are currently working on rolling over and sitting up. My kid started ST in JLD over half a year. Our speech therapists are Ms. Cassandra and Ms. Carolina in first several months, then back to Cass only. They are caring and professional. Since pandemic, 70% our sessions are taken in zoom. It's so hard to keep a young kid sit before a laptop and engage in talking with therapist on the other side of computer. They always show great patience and try different ways and strategies to guide him to speak correctly, word by word, sentence by sentence, not only in-person but zoom. They are very knowledgeable, If I have questions, they are happy to share their opinions and ideas how to help him. Now we can see he has a big improvement in past months. Ms. Cass also show us the coping skill once when she saw my son looks upset before session began, which is amazing. The office staff are supportive and sweet. We have either schedule change or zoom back to in-person session request, Ms. Alex help us coordinate everything promptly. We truly appreciate their efforts on my son speech development. We are so grateful to JLD. Really increase our confidence and inspire us to walk with kid a long way. read more

My son received speech therapy with Sharon Hsu. She is amazing. I have seen so much progress with my son. When he started he barely said two word sentences. Now he is saying complete sentences and has conversations with us. It's the best feeling to hear my son talk. I will never forget one day my son did not want do his therapy session. Sharon sat with him on the floor in the waiting room playing and talking to him. She got him to go into the session by crawling with him into the room for his session. My daughter is on the autism spectrum and receives speech and OT services. We love going to Joy and Laughter. They work so hard to push my daughter forward with her goals, constantly update me on her progress, give us specific things to practice at home and genuinely care about my daughter's progress. Our experience here has been great, from the first phone call. They were very professional and quickly answered all of our questions to ensure they would be able to provide the services we needed. They were also very accommodating when we needed to work my son's OT schedule around his school and nap times.
