I went in to get my ring appraised for insurance and was told they would call me to get the paperwork when it was ready after taking down all the information they needed for my ring. I also let them know I needed my ring resized and they placed in a ring sizer to make it smaller for the mean time. After two weeks go by with no follow up I call and request an update on when the appraisal will be ready. They didn't seem to know what I was talking about and asked if they could call me back. It's been another week and I have not heard back from them yet. I'm just going to go to a new place to have my ring appraised as this seems to be a very disorganized place. read more

I have been patronizing JD for the past 22 years and have never had a negative experience. I can trust them to be honest, which is not always the case in a jewelry store. I have brought in items to be repaired, and been talked out of it because it is not worth it, thereby taking money from JD, but gaining a loyal customer. I have also had pieces reworked to beautiful results. Chad and his team always greet customers like friends and clean your jewelry for free. I had the best service at Joy-Den. I don't live in Marlboro and I never thought there was anything worth visiting on the Main Street. Joy-Den is surprisingly current and bigger than I expected. It has a friendly vibe. The customer service is exceptional. The owner, Chad, went above and beyond my expectations. My 18 year old son was with me because we needed to pick up a gold necklace that we had shortened. Before I went to the store I spoke with Chad on the phone and he said he would personally help us and he did. My son said that's the best he'd ever been treated at a store. I have to agree. The low pressure service is better than any high pressure sell at the mall. The store also has a large section of gifts and we left with a homemade, aromatic bar of soap that Chad's husband makes. You should go in just to smell the soaps. There was a ginger ale that has the fizz and an "Herbal Essence" that takes you back in time. The whole visit went above and beyond my expectations. Joy-Den will now be my "go-to" for jewelry repair/maintenance. I brought in my wedding rings to have them soldered together and also sized smaller. It was a tricky job because the wedding band has an intricate design all the way around and they did not want to mess that up. The woman there took a careful look at both rings and found a way to resize just the engagement ring and still solder them together. They look absolutely perfect and are exquisite!! They did a great soldering job, even though the medals are also different. I picked up my rings only a few days later and they were wonderfully cleaned and cared for! My wife had been looking for a jeweler to bring her rings in for occasional cleaning and/or "checking" on the diamonds (it's a family heirloom ring) since we moved to MA. We tried this place today and I was more than blown away. The owner, I believe his name was Chad, was awesome. We went in with our two kids, 4 and 1. A jeweler is never a place I would think to bring my kids, so I was a little uneasy about it. Not only was he gracious and beyond friendly to them, he even gave my son candy and answered every silly question he was asked. Again, awesome service. Memorable service. I decided to support a local jeweler and went to Joy-Den in Marlboro to have them make two necklaces for my daughters from a photo I had. I also asked that a set of stacked stoned bands be incorporated into one band with all three stones. One necklace, ruby and diamonds, was not exactly the design in the picture but was acceptable to one daughter. The other necklace, sapphire and diamonds, after three remakes still was not the exact design but my second daughter accepted it. A couple of weeks later did she tell me how unhappy she was with the necklace and that one of the prongs holding a diamond fell off the main stone. Luckily she found the diamond. At that point I brought the sapphire necklace to another jeweler who agreed it was not a replica of the picture and showed me that the craftmanship was extremely poor. He examined my reset ring and showed me two diamonds set onto one band were both loose. The daughter with the ruby necklace who lives out of state has since had her necklace locally examined also to find loose prongs and stones. Altogether I spend $2000 on these projects. I called Joy-Den very upset and spoke with the owner regarding these jewelry issues and that based on the above I now had to redo the Joy-Den deficits I wanted to be reimbursed monies. He stated that was not going to happen but did offer to redo for the fourth time the sapphire necklace and reset for the second time my ring. I did find the staff at Joy-Den pleasant but have no confidence that the quality of the jewelry workmanship will improve and therefore am not returning to this establishment. This experience has been a very expensive and frustrating mistake. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

I brought in an heirloom 18k gold medallion that had been in my family for over 100 years and asked if they could put a loop on it to be worn around the neck. Without asking me one of the male jewelers took the medallion and crudely poked a hole through it damaging the backing. When I expressed my horror and disapproval, Joy, the former owner took the medallion in and assured me that within a week they would make it right. When I returned a week later she handed it back without any repair. It was obvious she had accepted it only to get me out of the store on the day that I originally brought the gold medallion in. Not only did they damage the heirloom piece of jewelry but they made no effort to repair it and lied to me at the same time. I brought it to another reputable jeweler who did a beautiful job, not only repairing the damage that has been done at Joy-Den jewelers but put the loop on it expertly. I went to Joy-Den Jewelers to get my wedding set resized. My set is almost 26 years old and in yellow gold which I felt made the set look dated. I spoke with Chad about "dipping" it to change the look of the setting from gold to silver/white to give it a "lift". He informed me that they didn't do it there, but could give me the information for another jeweler who did. When I asked his opinion on doing this he felt that it didn't last too long and as it wore off it looked terrible. So I discussed what I could do to update my ring. He suggested putting a halo around my diamond (.75 carat solitaire with channel set diamonds in both the engagement ring and wedding band). I could keep my original bands / diamond, and just replace the prong part with a white-gold diamond halo. I loved that I keep my original bands (sentimental reasons). He told me he would order a halo for me to look at and let me know when it was in. As luck would have it, he called me later that same day to let me know he actually had a halo in stock that would fit my diamond. I went back the following day to look at it and decided the price was good and I'd like to give it a try. He promised I would have it by Christmas. To my surprise I got a call 2 days later to let me know it was done and it had come out beautifully (and that it made my diamond look huge). I headed to the store to pick it up and was shocked at how stunning (and huge) my ring looked. They buffed up the gold of my ring and cleaned up my diamonds, and with the added halo it was just breath-taking. I was truly amazed what a difference adding the halo made. It took my dated ring and made it into an beautiful show piece with a blinding sparkle (yup I can't stop staring at it). My husband was also blown away not only at the look of it, but how little it cost to make this amazing change (as was I). This was my first time at Joy-Den jewelers, but definitely not my last. I'm glad that Chad took the time to discuss options with me on how to change the look of my ring (without spending an obnoxious amount of money). There was no pushing to trade up my diamond or move it to a whole new setting (which would have been a huge investment). He went right to adding the halo which allowed me to keep my bands (he knew the sentimental value they had), update an older looking setting into a more modern look, adding lots of bling, and at an extremely reasonable cost. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. I have attempted to get an appraisal for maybe a month now. They kept telling me to come back another time and would constantly turn me away. FINALLY was able to drop my ring off and get the written appraisal, BUT now I have to wait another 5 days "for the right person to come to work so she can type it out and price it." They promised they'd be able to do it on the spot, and instead, it's been a very frustrating dragged out process. Really not worth the aggravation. Their selection isn't great--mostly "vintage" items (like broaches, tacky looking gems, etc). Definitely wouldn't ever buy jewelry from them, and considering this ongoing process, will never be back. read more
