I have been frequenting Joy Teriyaki for several months now. They are the best teriyaki place I have found. My favorite Teriyaki place (Teriyaki Box in Buffalo Grove) closed down about 15 years ago. I have never found teriyaki that was as good as that. Joy comes very close. Their sauce is very similar to what I remember from Teriyaki Box all those years ago. It might be a tad more soy heavy, but it is 95% the same. Their chicken is good here. Freshly made. They do flatten the chicken breast so it cooks easier, which TB didn't, and I think TB had better chicken, but Joy is still very good. Pork is delicious! Spicy chicken is pretty spicy, but wonderful. Overall, it is hands down the best I have found. The negatives? Well, for one, they started putting teriyaki sauce cups inside the food container, which I am not a fan of (they used to put them in the bag). Pricing is just a bit higher than I would expect for this type of food, but again, they are the best I have found and the portions are very big. This place is so so good! A group of us came in for dinner and they were really fast to get food out. Their portions are HUGE!! I got the spicy pork and shrimp combination. The chicken katsu has perfect breading to chicken ratio. One plate could possibly feed two people because their portions are so big. The teriyaki sauce and spicy pork sauce is spot on. They do tend to get quite busy during dinner time therefore I would recommend calling in for take out. DEFINITELY NOT EVER COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE!!! This happened during our lunch break. We ordered 7 combo meals (entree and salad) for to-go since our office is close by. When we started eating, found out there was a "BAND-AID" (picture attached) in the salad. It was disgusting! Thinking that the person preparing the food have not worn any gloves. We immediately went back to the restaurant (JOY TERIYAKI) and talked to the owner. We wanted to see the person handling the food, and saw she had wound on 2 fingers. We saw her chopping the food with bare hands, no gloves at all, even with the cut on her 2 fingers. Bottomline: At first they were hesitant to give a refund so WE HAVE TO DEMAND for it. And the owners were not cooperative. We already reported this matter to DuPage Health awaiting response from one of the inspectors. read more

Nice small and unique location. I have been wanting to visit for quite some time and although I drive by it daily I have never been. Upon walking in I noticed it was very clean. The menu jumps out at you from a few large TVs. The lady who greeted me at the register was very polite and helpful. I ordered the spicy chicken teriyaki with rice and a salad. The food was prepared very quickly. The salad came with some sort of house dressing which was super yummy. I'd go back just for that dressing! The chicken was moderately spicy and very flavorful. The food is consistently good here. The chicken and spicy pork is really good. The salad that these meals come with are ok, but the salad dressing is pretty good. The chicken teriyaki was not bad, but not great. The pork katsu was dry and almost burnt tasting. I didn't like the sauce at all. The fried dumplings again were dry, but the sauce was good.
