Fresh, delicious, and friendly! It's a chilly Sunday evening and with nothing planned for dinner at home, our son suggested chicken teriyaki for dinner. He said he at a place called Sake with a friend's family and other son said he ate at Sake with his BFF's family so having 2 votes, Sake Sushi was the destination. I called and made a reservation. At the last minute others couldn't join us. The host was pleasant and understanding when we apologized that we were only 4 instead of the 7 reserved. We were seated right away. There were many tables already enjoying their meals or just recently sat. The restaurant was warm and comfortable. Plenty of seating including booths and tables. There was a bar with some nice choices and a wall of displayed sakes. We were quickly greeted by our server, William. He took our drink orders & upon his return he took our appetizer order. Our meal was paced so well that there wasn't any wait and yet we didn't have anything that got warm/cold (depending on our dish). Their green tea is so good with a minor hint of smokiness and earthiness. Very tasty. We ordered fried chicken gyozas, edamame, and shrimp tempura. The gyozas were tender and juicy, perfectly fried and the sauce complimented it. The tempura was very good! Fresh shrimp that was tender and crunchy, the vegetables were well battered and fresh, nothing was greasy or oily tasting. I ordered a unagi and avocado hand roll. It was filled with unagi and avocado with just enough rice to complete the hand roll. Too many places stuff theirs with all rice and barely any of the featured fish. Hubby and I shared the sashimi deluxe (12 chef chosen sashimi pieces) and sushi deluxe (nigiri and California roll). Everything was incredibly fresh and the slices of fish were generous. Our sons had the chicken teriyaki and said the sauce was a nice mix of sweet, salty and flavor. They liked it with the rice. All of our entrees came with miso soup and a fresh lettuce salad with citrus ginger dressing. We really enjoyed our dinner and the freshness of everything. Our server came back often to check on our meal. Our older son wanted a shrimp tempura roll and when it arrived, it was packed with ingredients! This place does not use rice as a filler to make their sushi seem bigger which is really appreciated! The fresh seafood is the star and they don't skimp on the star! We finished our meal with tempura ice cream, something that we haven't seen on a dessert menu in a while. Sake Sushi's was decent though the ice cream scoop could have been bigger, there was a disproportionate amount of tempura batter to ice cream, it was the right amount of sweetness to end the meal. The bill was so reasonable for the amount of food we ordered! The service was superior as was the quality of the sushi. read more

The sushi here is okay. Not the greatest quality, but better than some sushi restaurants here in the Schaumburg area. When we received our sushi, we thought it looked funny. It was lacking moisture, therefore it wasn't fresh. The tuna doesn't have the deep red color so that tells me it isn't fresh either. The cuts of the sashimi and very thick. Even though it lacked moisture, there was still some kind of negative fishy taste to it. The service was fast. It seemed like our waitress didn't want to be there. Her tone of voice was negative like as if she was mad. It a dark restaurant as you can tell from the pictures I took. I was surprised on how big it was. When you're looking from outside it looks small. It's okay for Schaumburg. This review is coming from someone who loves sushi and is very picky about the freshness of the fish. Always had great experiences here, but lunch today was gnarly. I ordered a tuna avocado roll and a spider roll. The tuna was gray, slimy, and mealy, and the crab was all soggy tempura with gray mush. Definitely not fresh. Both were comped from the bill, but I can't believe they were served. I don't know what the issue was because the sushi on other tables looked great. Although I had called ahead to make a reservation for the occasion, their service and willingness to congratulate my parents was severely missed. Although it seemed as if they understaffed, we couldn't help but feel like our waitress was actively avoiding us throughout the night due to her lack of presence and assistance. Regardless of the service, the ambiance was decent. My only complaint is that it was a little too dark in the room, forcing us to use our cell phone flashlights in order to read the menu. Now for the food! We had ordered the Calamari for an appetizer, Sushi Deluxe, Chicago Fire Roll, Fire Phoenix Roll, Shrimp Pad Thai for entrees, and the Tempura Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert. The Calamari was a lackluster start in desperate need of some salt. However, the entrees were definitely the star of the show. Both the speciality rolls were flavorful and presentable. The Sushi Deluxe's ratio of fish to rice was abundant and appreciated. The Shrimp Pad Thai was alright, but the main character in this show was certainly the sushi. To end off the night, we decided to try the Tempura Ice Cream since the concept intrigued us. Fantastic. Several of us from work went to lunch at Sake Sushi and Grill. Having never been there before, I was eager to see if this would be another place to get good sushi. They have a full menu, but also offer lunch specials that are very reasonable. I chose the three Maki Roll special - 3 rolls (you can't order from the special menu but they have a more expensive option where you can), salad, and miso soup. And, checking in with Yelp you have your choice of two other appetizers, edamame or Seaweed Salad. I chose the Seaweed Salad. That was large enough to share. First, the Seaweed Salad was excellent - crisp, vinegary sweet (but not too sweet). I think this was among the best I've had anywhere. Same thing with the Miso Soup. It was outrageous. For the Sushi Rolls, I opted for a Salmon Skin Roll, a Spider Roll, and a Yellow Tail Roll. Surprisingly, the Salmon Skin Roll had cream cheese in it, something that wasn't specified and I didn't want. They gladly took it back and brought another Spider Roll. Both rolls were fresh and delicious. For $13.95, you just can't beat it - especially for the quality. And, I realized as I was eating that three rolls are simply too much. I ended up bringing one home. This may be my new favorite for Sushi. read more

This is your average sushi place, nothing really to make it stand out from other respected sushi houses. I would recommend going during their lunch hours as you can get 3 rolls, miso soup, and house salad all for around $12 (tip not included). Aside from our waiter pulling a disappearing act after our food was served, I would say that the more simple rolls, such as the spicy salmon, take the cake when it comes to taste. It should go without saying that the house salad dressing was amazing, but they don't finely chop their lettuce wedges and you are forced to stuff large portions into your mouth , don't recommend doing that-haha. Miso soup was good but not the best. As for the edamame, they give a lot and it's free if you check-in with Yelp, just saying. All in all, I know there are better options out there but if your down to settle for par grade sushi, this is the joint! read more

Been here a few days ago. Here for the second time. The first experience was okay, the second (this) time was horrible. We received an unimaginably terrible service. We ordered 3 sets of sushi, two salads, and a Pad Thai. When we are ordering, my son (5 years old) asked if he can get fried potatoes. I just asked the server/waiter (a lady with glasses) if they have fried potatoes. She laughed, making a fun, saying this is a restaurant not a fast food. I said, well that is not funny, and I know most other sushi places have something similar on the menu. She laughed again, making fun. And I said that is not funny, and her face changed. She was sooo rude and underlooking to us. Then I ordered a hot tea. And she brought us a pot of tea with two cups. I asked can we have two more cups, because we are four. She said straight no, mentioning it is a restaurant rule to have only two cups with a pot. What a stupid rule. What is a pot is consumed by four people. She said we need to order another pot. Then I asked another server passing by to get two more cups, and she said "oh yeah" and brought us two more cups. She (original server with glasses, don't know her name) saw that from the distance and came to the table with rush (burning from inside because now we got two more cups) and said to other server something in a foreign language with anger, and then they took away those two newly brought cups. Just for principles. then I asked for the manager, and apparently the second lady who gave us the cups were a manager. She had absolutely no power over her servers/waiter, saying "oh this is a restaurant rule, I am new I didn't know". ‍‍ Then, until we finish eating and until the bill, nobody came to us and even asked if we are doing ok and need help. And nobody even took the free dishes from out table as we finish table was full and very uncomfortable. This was my worst experience in a sushi restaurant.
