We went by the dealer 2x this weekend looking for a new Yukon. We have had some bad dealings with another dealer, Jerrys Chevy, and were not looking forward to working with another dealer. We were surprised to find that Koons was much different. The sales guy, Philip, was very nice and there was no pressure. We couldn't agree on a price and didn't buy a car, but we will be going back there when we need a new car. read more

I am incredibly disappointed and upset with the maintenance that Joyce Koons gives out. I brought my car in for an oil change and so they could check all the fluids. I came in at 10:00 AM and they gave me my car at 1:30 PM. They had me wait almost 4 hours. This is not a huge problem. My problem is that after 2 hours being there, they told me that my car needed new tires, and told them to go ahead and replace the tires, and that's where the problem started. When they handed me my car and they gave it to me with all 4 rims scratched up. It looked like they had hits all 4 rims on the curb. When I asked the service advisor and the manager what had happened, they did not take responsibility and said that the car had been brought in like that. How is it possible that you bring in you car to get fixed and they just cause another problem. It seems that they they took the rims from my car and switched them out with a different vehicle, whether it had done my mistake or deliberately. I urge you to thoroughly check your vehicles and take before and after photos to have proof. read more

My car has been in and out of the dealership for a year under GMC warranty. The can't seem to get it fixed. Called the General Manager Saturday and asked for a meeting. Instead of accepting responsibility for the failure of his dealership he claimed they had "bent over backwards trying to fix my car" He told me " You don't want to come into my dealership and meet with me" I took that as a threat of physical violence" GMC dealer cant fix a car under GMC power train warranty and some how its the customers fault? read more

It doesn't matter if I go for something small or something large at Joyce Koons Buick GMC. I'm always greeted with people who know what they're doing and people who seem to love their jobs! They have always provided top notch service and strive for do the job right the first time, with a smile, and maybe even a discount! I'm very happy that I bought my car here and now get it serviced in their service department. I would probably drive quite a distance for them to work on my car but it's super convenient that they're close to home! He has even fit me into their scheduling at the last minute.....plenty of times, with no hesitation. I had written a previous review about this dealership on their DealerRater page, more specifically for the gentleman who sold me my vehicle from here a couple of weeks ago. That review stands. However, after the vehicle was purchased, everything went downhill. I had sold the dealership my old car and was supposed to be cut a check and have it in hand within 3-4 days after the Sunday that I purchased my vehicle. When we don't get the check by the time they specified, my family calls to follow up. We're told something that makes absolutely no sense, AND on another note, they messed up our contract and we had to go back down to the dealership and sign another one. While there, Omar from Finance apologizes and reassures us that everything is correct this time and also lets us know that we should receive our check in a couple days. Again, a couple days pass and NOTHING. We don't even hear from them. So we call the store and speak with Omar. Omar says that he doesn't know what was going on, but that he will speak to the manager as soon as he gets off the phone and will follow up with us in the morning. We also email the manager and tell her about our frustration. The next day, I receive a phone call from the manager, Angela, and the Finance Director, Andy. They told me that they weren't able to cut our check because the "paperwork hadn't gone through," but that they'd "break the rules" this time around for us and cut us a check early. Gee thanks, And wait, there's another kicker, there was yet ANOTHER ERROR in the contract. My family and I had to go back to the dealership YET AGAIN and sign a revised contract. They offered to come to our house, but they have no place coming to our home. Would they like it if we went to their personal home to do business? This is BUSINESS and should be done in a place of BUSINESS (although, it's clearly not run well). I show up to the dealership and am greeted by Omar. He is polite, apologizes and shakes our hands and leads us back to Andy's office and says that he'll be able to help us. Andy was one of the worst people I've worked with. In the middle of stating my frustration and that I feel uncomfortable signing yet another contract, he interrupts me and begins to speak over me. That is just rude. You do not have to agree with what I am saying, but you do have to treat me with respect and listen. It's also best not to tell the customer they are wrong. Yes, as you said to my face when you interrupted me: "we're all human, we all make mistakes," however, generally people don't make the same mistake 3 times. Also, managers or directors of businesses generally shake their customers hands, but at the end of signing the contract, he didn't shake our hands. He didn't even stand up; he just looked at his computer screen. Before even meeting him yesterday, he had emailed us saying that we didn't sign all of the paperwork required when we purchased my vehicle. We emailed him back saying that we did to which he replies that he overlooked it. Not a good impression. How is someone like Andy the Finance Director? How is it okay for him to treat the people who walk into your business's doors the way he treated me? Absolutely not acceptable. I highly suggest avoiding Andy if you decide to conduct business here. I also warn you, that while things may seem okay at the beginning, when you first purchase your vehicle, expect that there will be more issues to arise and A LOT of them. Save yourself the hassle and trade/sell your car to CARMAX. They offered me the same money for my vehicle and would've cut me a check the same day. Even if CARMAX is out of your way, like it was for me, it would've been well worth it to go there because having to come back to Joyce Koons Manassas Buick GMC 3 times to fix a contract is ridiculous and more time consuming then driving to CARMAX. read more

I just moved here from the SouthWest. I never had issues with getting warranty work done and my vehicle was alway in and out; mind you, during the time they had my vehicle, I was always offered a loaner car for the duration they needed to have my vehicle, even if it was just for regular maintenance. Moving here and starting over with a new dealership, Joyce Koons, in particular, has been less than satisfying. When I called and set up the maintenance and warranty appointment and also to have the body shop do a repair estimate for my insurance company... I asked about a loaner car seeing as I work 30 minutes away and live 45 minutes away... I was told they don't do "loaner" cars, but they consider them rentals and they are $38 a day. I was also told that if the repairs take longer than 4 hrs, that they pay for the rental. I turned my car in on Saturday at 1245... it took them an hour to process my paperwork and I was told that since it was later in the afternoon and the body shop was already closed, they would need the car until Monday. Cool, no biggie because it's taking them over 4 hours so I won't have to pay... I was told I would receive a call on Monday to pick up my vehicle... 2pm rolled around and no call so I called them and found out they never even got it to the body shop... Tuesday comes and I was supposed to receive a call again when it was ready... it's 1 pm this time, and when I call them, I received an excuse that the reason I didn't get a call is because of "lunch rush"... I was also charged $120 for the "rental" car. I will not be using their services again. The maintenance men were super nice but the service associate I worked with was not very polite and dishonest. I got an oil change/tire rotation and warranty work completed and ended up paying $223... that's a damn expensive oil change! read more

Buyer beware! Used cars at this location are WAY over NADA suggested retail. Do your homework, buyers! Also, Koons' "processing and doc fees" are listed at nearly $800! That's as much as a few car payments! Per ConsumerReports.org : "A charge of $150-$300 for processing documents that establish your title and registration is reasonable. Question any charges that are higher than $300. Sometimes called a "doc fee" or "conveyance fee," this is supposed to cover the dealer's cost for processing the paperwork for the purchase, title, and registration. We have found it impossible to get our local dealers to reduce or eliminate this fee. He is honest, and took the time to not only answer my questions about the vehicle, but also to demonstrate the features and explained their benefits. I did not have to haggle over the price like other dealers in the area. Mr. Masloom worked with Mr. Shawn McGregor to find me a price that was more than reasonable, in less time than it takes to drink the cup of coffee they offered me. We purchased a brand new top of the line Honda Accord on 5/22/20 for my now deceased husband. He had a major medical event 6 days after the purchase of this vehicle that ultimately led to his death. This dealership would offer no options to take back the car. They kept giving me the run around on who to talk to and ultimately gave me no options. Salesperson indicated he'd be in the next day by 1pm. I called and emailed him the following day but only learned that at 4pm he left for the day. This review is for the service department. They're polite, professional, courteous and clean. Best place in the world for routine service. It is a dealership, so they're going to try and up-sell you on anything they can when you bring your car in for an oil change. My biggest problem is that when they do repairs, they do not bring out the old part to show you what they replaced and why it was broken. I suppose this is in part due to the majority of their customers not having a clue as to how any part of a car works, but having plenty of money to pay for repairs, no questions asked. But, for my part, it does lead to a bit of skepticism about Koon's honesty. read more

I went through autotrader to get an appraisal of my 2005 BMW 325 Xi and was honest throughout the questionnaire. I even called to make sure the offer wasn't a high estimate and was told by Bianca that the value was a ballpark and vehicles often assess higher than the online value. I didn't want to come in if it was going to be a $1,500 less offer. I then wasted 2 hours of my and my wife's time coming in for the appraisal which came back at $1,300 less than the autotrader estimate online with very little explanation as to why it was so low. Had they been up front and honest, I never would have come in in the first place. Low balling on a 10 year old car with less than 100k miles was not what I expected from a dealership that prides themselves on being so highly rated in customer service. I called when I got home to speak to a manager, left a voicemail, and never received a call back. To add insult to injury, I received an additional email from the salesman the next day offering more information about the vehicle I had been looking at (which I never looked at another vehicle). The check engine light on my car came on and was having rough idling and a hard time accelerating so I brought my car to Joyce Koons. Matt initially called me and said that the check engine light was reporting a number of codes. One of those codes being the timing may have skipped. He concluded that the actuators and not the timing chain needed to be replaced. After I agreed to have the parts ordered and the work was done to my car I received another call from Mat saying the "code came back" for the timing chain. Matt's exact words were, "the code came back" he said that I would need to pay for the replacement chain kit and labor costs totaling over 1600$ including the actuators. If the code for the timing chain came up initially why wasn't the over arching issue resolved instead of the trivial one? I told Matt to halt all work on the vehicle and once I arrived to pick it up Mat was not there. The headlight I requested be fixed was not done and the car had the same exact issues as when I brought it in. Since Mat was not there I spoke to Jeff. I expressed my frustrations with Jeff about paying $400 for repairs and the issue not being resolved but he was adamant that there was no issues with the process and that the code for the timing chain skipping did not come up initially (which contradicts what mat said). They either made a mistake in diagnosis or they assumed incompetence on my part. Regardless, I am in the whole $400, the car is not driveable since bad timing can cause a number of other issues and I could not take any more time disputing my case since I was flying out on military orders that same day. So now my wife has to deal with her car not working while I'm away. Very little other than some backtracking was done to accommodate my situation read more

On April 7 2021, We took our 2017 Yukon Denali in to the dealership for an oil change. They (Kevin) informed me my struts were leaking and need replacement. With just 40,000 miles on the vehicle I was surprised and said I would have to come back at a later time. The following week I was out of town, my wife had the vehicle and the engine light came on. She took it to a local shop in the neighborhood. While it was there I asked my wife to have them check the struts and replace them because GMC said they were leaking. The local shop said my struts were fine, they were not seeping or leaking. We had the engine light cleared (it was a separate warranty item we will discuss shortly), the cabin air filter was also replaced, and were shocked GMC lied about the struts. Fast forward a few months, the engine light came back on, we took it to the same local shop, they ran I diagnostic check and said it was the transmission fluid temp sensor wiring harness that needed replaced and we were better off taking it to GMC as it is a warranty item. We did just that, took it to GMC on 15 September 2021. We used the concierge service they offered and let them pick up the Yukon and provide us with a loaner. Later that day, Nick of the service department called me (Kevin no longer works there), and said my struts were leaking ($1848.42), the cabin air filter needed replacement ($59.30), brake fluid exchange was overdue($165.92), and the Air Conditioner needed to be flushed to help eliminate Microbial viruses from COVID-19 ($170.86). I was born at night but not last night. I only had them perform the transmission wiring harness sensor replacement. Nick stressed that he could not let me drive the Yukon and the struts were leaking terribly and it was not safe to drive. He reminded me it was here in April and we recommended replacement then, so it MUST be fixed! I declined, never told him, I had it re-evaluated at another shop and had them return my vehicle to me. We received the Yukon 15 September and took it straight to our local shop. They called me a few hours later with the following information. The under carriage of your truck is soaked with what seems to be oil. Fresh oil that is dripping over the struts from above. It appeared like it was sprayed with oil from a sprayer of some type and allowed to drip down and over the struts. There was no road grime, just oil dripping from above...SABOTAGE! to make it appear like it was leaking, but the over sprayed it, thinking I would just look under my vehicle, see the excess oil and hopefully return it to them for a repair that was not needed. The local shop, completely dried/wiped/cleaned the surrounding areas. We took the Yukon home and drove it all weekend, approximately, 150 miles. WE took it back to our local shop this morning and it was BONE DRY! Joyce Koons Honda Buick GMC cannot be trusted! to go as far as sabotaging a completely operable and safe vehicle to get business is Ludacris. Now you can also look at there other recommendations of repair as well and draw your own conclusions...COVID-19 Microbials...Seriously! Everyone please beware of this company... read more

I'm still in shock from today's events. Came in to check out a vehicle. Was told another person is also looking at it, but her credit can be an issue. So if I want the car I should grab it before it's bought. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED if she is doing paperwork already. And got the answer " NO". So I make a decision to go for that car. Signed all the forms, called my family to tell them the news, and was on hold with Enterprise to return my rental, when the manager pops over and starts mumbling about that they sold the car to that other person they mentioned. WHAT?... I pointed out my signed paperwork just to be told that the "other lady filled hers out first" So they used me as their little back up shmo wasting my time, allowing me to make arrangements while LYING that the other person did not do paperwork. Apology I received was rushed, lackluster and not sincere whatsoever. Did not even try to offer to remedy this, offer me another vehicle to look at or some other gesture indicating they want to make it right. Just a "have a nice day". Unproffesional AND disrespectful. If you are looking for a car with these guys, make sure they are not playing you like they played me. How is this legal is beyond me read more

I was skeptical to bring my car to a dealership for repairs, but unfortunately, my car required fixing that my mechanic could not do. (In order to avoid sullying the quality of my review, I'm not going to mention my usual mechanic.) While I don't doubt the quality of the repairs performed by Koons (I have no reason to), I do doubt the quality of customer service and the people skills of the folks they have dealing with the public in the service department. My mom and I spoke and dealt with Tyson @ Koons in Manassas this past weekend and he was utterly rude to us despite being absolutely pleasant and accommodating to my boyfriend. At one point, he actually asked my mom and I, in the most degrading, condescending tone: "Well, do you even know where the thermostat is?" My mother, not missing a beat said, "I'm not sure where the thermostat is in that car, but I do know that it's not an expensive part." He would not give us clear answers regarding costs or the price for labor, was absolutely unhelpful and evasive, and completely changed our mind about dealing with Koons, despite the fact we are in a market for a new car. I will not be returning to this dealership - ever. I'd rather take my business elsewhere. read more

I've been going to this dealer for ten years for several different vehicles and I have always had a good experience. The personnel seldom changes in the service areas, and this is a major factor for me. I also have compared their costs vs others and Koons is always a little higher, but they are close, and I do not think they jack up the price with unneccesary repairs, flushes, etc. read more

I've brought my GMC SUV for service here for 7 or 8 years. It's impressive that I've had the same service advisor, Jeff, the entire time. I can't speak for car sales, but as far as service and parts are concerned, I always feel like I get honest estimates, they have great coupons and specials and are always trying to find new ways to improve the customer experience. The latest innovations are robocall appointment reminders, follow up phone calls and surveys, remodeled wired wi-fi work areas and super clean bathrooms. Jeff (and Joe) were very friendly as usual and were quick to get my Envoy checked in for service. The improvements to the work area made it nice to work comfortably (although it is a bit chilly in that room) while my truck was serviced. I appreciated Jeff's thorough follow up and recommendations after it failed some of the checks. read more

I had regular service performed on my GMC Acadia on March 26th. I was informed my GMC required some additional repairs and since I was on my way to go out of town for Spring break, I came back the following week to have Joyce Koons GMC perform the additional work. I was prepared with what the cost would be based on my warranty and deductible. I was informed throughout the process and I received a comfortable Buick Regal as a loaner vehicle. The Service Manager and staff were extremely nice. I've had my Acadia for about 2 years and have always had friendly service to date. I was completely satisfied with the work performed. I even asked them to put my Redskins license plate holder on over my license plate tags. I would not go anywhere else for service to my Acadia. read more
