Called on a Sunday to see if they could come out. The owner was extremely professional, knowledgeable, kind and prompt. After gathering as much info over the phone in order to put together a ball park estimate so as not to waste anyone's time and to give me the closest idea as to how much it might cost, he sent out one of his technicians right away. His tech, Denver, showed up within minutes and resolved our issue and even tried to help with cleanup- our septic had backed up into the tub. The man himself, John, replaced a broken, corroded, obsolete water shutoff gate valve in my condo's garage with a new ball valve. The direct communication via text was great. He gave different options, advantages, and disadvantages for the types of shutoff valves (import vs domestic) and the price differences. He arrived when he said he would. It only took him about 30 minutes to do the job. He was true to the price he quoted. He even took care of a minor toilet issue I had asked him about while he was here. John is very knowledgeable about his profession. Nice to talk to as well. Finding a good plumber is like finding a good mechanic. No easy task. It definitely needed to be a licensed plumber for this job. After that, it came down to price, reviews, and reputation. I had quotes from a half dozen other plumbing outfits. The Yelp reviews were very helpful but it was also the gut feeling I got when I started communicating directly with John as well what I read on the company website. Had a backed up bathroom sink and some concerns about a possibly related slow draining tub. Based on good Yelp reviews I called Joyce plumbing who came out with the clear top priority of clearing the sink that was clogged and not draining at all and second priority to check out the potentially slow draining tub. Joyce's plumber came and attempted to clear the clog in the sink but was unsuccessful. I was told I would be charged for the work despite their inability to clear the drain but that while they were there he could snake out the tub that didn't appear to their plumber to be draining slow at no additional cost...i took them up on that offer because if I am getting charged anyway I might as well have them snake the tub. I appreciated the offer to at least provide a positive outcome for their services with the the tub, who knows maybe the slow draining would did improve, I don't know, I didn't notice any difference but as a result i am increasing my original one star review to a two star. The main thing here is the primary reason for the service request was to clear the sink which was not achieved. When another plumber was put to the task from another company, the sink was unclogged within a half hour of his arrival. Note: After seeing this review Joyce plumbing did call me to discuss the situation and wanted me to reconsider the one star review. In the end I did decide to up it to 2 but I definitely think of it as a solid 1.5. His reasoning was that services were still provided with the tub and that perhaps the second plumber was not concerned about potential destruction of the pipes between the sink and the main and possibly risked damaging them in in whatever method they used to declog it. To me, the bottom line in this the simple truth that: I called Joyce to unclog a sink and they were not able to perform that task. I called another plumber and they took care of it with no issues. As a result I had to pay two plumbers to fix one problem that only the other plumbing company fixed. Joyce gets good reviews in on yelp and that is generally how I select contractors and have had great success in the past. A low review like this is no doubt is a rare occurrence for this company and I honestly wish I never felt the need to write it because then I would have had my plumbing problem fixed without having to call another plumber and i would have a plumbing service that I felt confident in for any future problems. read more

Excellent experience. My tenant notified me Fri evening that her toilet was leaking. Sat morning, I request quotes via Yelp from a few plumbers. 3 stated that they were available starting Mon (either they don't work weekends (?!) or were booked. John Joyce (owner!) calls me back relatively quickly to say he can swing by in about 2 hours. My tenant was cool with that. He ended up getting there even earlier, called me soon after to give me the estimate. Although it was a little higher than I anticipated, without actually receiving quotes from other places, I don't know for sure if it was more expensive or not. Regardless, he said he was able to take care of it then and there, and would send me an email with an invoice (as opposed to needing a CC right away) so I said, YES PLEASE! Received a text from my tenant about an hour or so later saying John was pleasant, and everything was working perfectly. If we did pay a little more than competitors, it was worth it because he was professional, available, and efficient! Turned off main water and removed old shower cartridge and installed new one with no problems. turned main water back on and no more leaks. An amazing experience all the way around. My 15 year old hot water heater started to leak, and I knew immediately I was interested in a more modern, energy efficient tankless water heater. I spoke to John on the phone and he gave me multiple options and offered some advice when it came to purchasing a tankless water heater. I called multiple other plumbers in the area and found that John charged a very competitive price without any hidden costs. John, and one of his other employees, Denver, came out to my place and spent the day hauling out my old unit and fitting the tankless heater.
