I took the time just now to register to Yelp so that I could respond to Robyn's review of Joyce's Dog Grooming. Took me a lot of time and I've never written a review, but this will be worth it. I did not want to believe what was written in Robyn's review. Who wants to believe that they could be leaving their much loved pet with a groomer who may be hurting your dog when you are not there. Well guess what, this groomer hurt my dog (not once but twice) right in front of me. When I walked in, Joyce was her normal self, talking on the phone and making me feel guilty for having interrupted her. She was not balancing her checkbook this time; I experienced that the first time I visted. So, I was getting ready to pay and popped my head over to see my dog who was sitting nicely while his nails were being clipped and he saw me. So did the groomer. But Austin stood up and tried to come see me and that was when the groomer made him sit back down (which was fine) but then pulled his front paw off to the side, not once but twice and hard enough to make my dog whimper and look at her, like "what is the matter with you?". At that point, I asked the groomer to stop but she wouldn't and did it again, right in front of me. Neeless to say, quite a scene broke out, especially when I told Joyce that I was not comfortable paying her after witnessing this behavior from her groomer. At the mention of money, Joyce launced into an expletive-filled tirade that even my husband heard from his car. She was not happy. Neither was I. read more

at the beginning was ok, but my dog always was afraid to stay. We thought because he is afraid of everything. after read the reviews I have a different pint of view. My dog stay for 3 hrs and almost always she put my two dogs, a cocker and a terrier in the same plastic box, why she didn't have some mercy and put them in the big cage. It was hot ! The last time she called me and she told me she is living and my dogs are ready and also she said she forgot to call me. they were ready may be for 50 minutes, they were the last dogs. She forgot them! and she blamed the lady that work there, she said "she didn't give me the card" that was my last time there! I'm sorry for not pay more attention that it wasn't only that my dog is afraid to be without us, there was more there. I would not recommend her ! read more

I had the hardest time picking a groomer when i moved out here..I will hardly let anyone touch MY hair, much less screw up my dog, poke him in the eyes or make him look like he has the damn mange ok.. So i was recommended here by my boyfriend and of course i was skeptical when i dropped the doggie off but i was just stunned at how good he looked when i picked him up 4 hours later. I have been getting him groomed since he was about 6 months old. I have even had a mobile groomer come to my house and this is probably the best he has ever looked. Not to mention it has already been a week and he still smells good and feels as soft as a baby blankie! I will definitely come back here..the prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly and when i went to pick him up - he didn't look at me like OMG those people they just beat me, why did you do this to me!! LET ME OUTTA HERE!! lol Our animals went up in there looking like they had been through a tornado..the dog had some mattes in his hair, and was shaved in three different spots for his shots and worm tests and the cat is a Persian with A LOT of hair and mattes..plus she has the cat scratch fever..so i couldnt believe how great they looked afterwards. I have been taking my dog Jake to Joyce for years, as I did with my other 3 dogs. We have a 20 plus. Year relationship . I have always been VERY satisfied with everyone at the salon. In the past Joyce has even been so kind to take my dog home and put him securely away in my backyard! Where do you get such great customer services that ?? She has a vast knowledge grooming and pet care in general. I find it hard to believe that anyone has ever had a problem at Joyce's Salon?!!!!??!!! Took my dog here. Right when I left my dog with Joyce she started judging her as if she was to be thrown into a competition (my dog is a lap dog for crying out loud). She made me feel uncomfortable. When the lady called to let me know my dog was ready for pick up she also called to tell me more judgmental comments. I brought my puppy to Joyce's twice. They did a beautiful job. However, the second time they left my puppy in the kennel for 3 hours... I then found out they took their "usual" customers' pets before mine. I thought I would take a minute to write a review because there isn't anything recent about this place. I'll say it, I like it here. No frills, just your basic groomer who has been around town forever. I am here to get my dog cleaned so he doesn't stink up the house and don't need to feel like I'm at the Ritz. Joyce's is simple and reasonably priced. No gimmicks, no high end OMG-you-have-to-have-this-amazing-waste-of-money-product-or-you're-a-failure-of-a-pet-owner product. I have a basset so he doesn't need trimming and such, just a bath and his nails trimmed. I rescued my basset less than a year ago and when I got him, he REFUSED to let anyone touch his paws. He'd nip and growl and would have nothing to do with it. Joyce's has taken the time to make him feel comfortable and safe, and he's improving leaps and bounds! I've been taking my Maltese Sydney to Joyce's since he was 3 months old. He is now 4 years old and I wouldn't dream of taking him anywhere else. He is far from a perfect angel which is why i wouldnt dare to groom him myself. But he always comes home from Joyce's looking fantasic and I give them props just for being able to handle him! The teeth cleaning service really saves the cost and hassle of having to go to the vet and is done without anesthesia. I walked in to pick up my dog and saw a groomer hitting (hard enough to make it scream out) and screaming at a dog to "sit still and behave." I have heard others have had the same experience. I drive to Joyce's from Pacific Palisades once a month - my mom lives in Burbank and told me about Joyce. I have two small cockapoo's - not only do they get great cuts but its affordable and a lovely little local place with lots of love for my dogs. Totally worth the drive and I get to hang out in Burbank a few hours and go to all my favorite places for lunch etc. I just had both dogs teeth cleaned here and they did a fantastic job. Paulina at Joyce's Salon of Fine Grooming is hands down the best groomer my pups have ever had! She has the grooming skills of a fine artist and is compassionate and truly "speaks" dog. She gets them, and they understand that they are in good hands while they are with her. They always leave happy and content after a Paulina Grooming. I think it is impressive that Paulina has taken the initiative to study animal behavior and training to further her grooming skills and career! WOW!!!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE!!! If you don't like the way your dog is groomed, when you pick up your dog, tell Joyce and her groomers so they can fix it. If you want your dog's hair to be cut shorter, tell them; if you want your dog to smell very good, tell them, they will spray some doggie cologne. You know, some dogs are not easy to groom, trust me I know, my dog is so bad when I brush him and he won't stand still for a minute and I tried to clip his nails by myself, big mistake, he screams when I pick up his foot. I have been taking my dog to Joyce's for about 5 years now and they are very good with him, he always looks great when he comes out and he loves to go visit his groomer. So people, if you want a FREE GROOMING, or you think you can do a BETTER JOB than a groomer, well DO IT YOURSELF!!! read more

FYI - I live and work in Glendale for 16 years now, but, I have been taking my "BABIES" to Joyce's Dog Grooming Salon for the past FIFTEEN (yes, 15) years. I started taking one, my Yorkie, and then, my Yorkie (same one) and Lab Chow, and now my Lab Chow and Pekingese. My Yorkie already went to the Rainbow Bridge. Why do I drive that far for dog grooming and why do I keep coming back to Joyce's for 15 years? Becuase, I find Joyce and her staff to be as loving and caring as I am with my Babies - yes, loving and caring. They will usually let me know when I pick up my Babies if they noticed something unusual with them - like a skin rash, an allergy (i.e. ear, eyes, etc.) or swelling in the gums, lips, etc. Joyce always takes the time to call me personally when an occasion is coming up because the salon will have a heavy schedule. "Get your babies in here early or make an appointment now" - that's what she will say. My personal experience of 15 years speaks loud and proud of Joyce's Dog Grooming and Salon. I will continue and keep going back to her. My Secretary and two other close friends have been using her services, too. Thank you Joyce and your staff for taking care of my Babies all these years. I had the hardest time selecting a groomer in the area for our Goldendoodle puppy's first grooming. I finally narrowed it down to Joyce's based on a recommendation from a friend and I am so glad I did. I just picked up my 5 month old baby and he looks great. Why I like the place: -From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a friendly, "hello, we've been looking forward to having you!" -The groomer, Letty is her name, immediately came out and began to ask what we were looking for in the grooming. She asked details like, how long would you like to keep the length?, how do you like the face to look?, feet?, how old is the puppy?, etc. She immediately knelt down, got on my puppy's level and began to interact with and get to know him -Joyce's was able to get me in for the appointment within the week -The actual grooming only took about 2 hours! I dropped him off at 1pm and he was done a little after 3pm. I absolutely loved that the dogs weren't waiting in the cage for hours before, during or after their grooming -When I came to pick him up, I met the owner (Joyce) and visited with her for a couple minutes to get to know a little more about the place. She shared she had been in the business for 43 years and why she got started in grooming, all good things there too -Last, my sweet little puppy came out happy and looking perfect! Letty (the groomer) did everything exactly as I requested and with a smile. I paid and we were on our way! -Cons: when I called to schedule the appointment, the lady on the phone was not the friendliest, however she got the job done and the appointment made quickly. I figured if they were not friendly when I arrived for my appointment or I did not get a good feeling in person, I would just cancel... Second, the store does not have the best curb appeal or decor. It looks a little old / dated. However, the overall service and treatment / care of my pup was great today and that is really all that matters to me in a groomer. When i first started taking my dog to Joyce's she would come out looking great and smelling wonderful, but recently my poor dog has been coming out looking worse than when she went in. It seems like her hair wasn't even cut. I could have probably done a better job at home.
