My first time going in and I did not feel welcome. I work close by and unfortunately this is the only place around that is open so early. The food is good as I enjoy their burritos and coffees, but the service is awful. Not a friendly establishment, if you don't mind rude service then this is the place for you. While visiting BV for a wedding, we walked to Joyful each morning for coffee. Their beautiful location right on the river was a great way to start each morning. Cool location with potential. The girl working the cash register was not friendly and did not greet us at all. Hot latte was served cold, and I had to ask the barista to re-steam. Stopped by Buena Vista because it's one of the few places in these towns that has EV charging. Came here for lunch with my family on a lovely autumn day and ata outside. We stopped in for an affogato in our way home as a halfway point in the drive pick-me-up. I had the spumoni and he had the cookies and cream. Highly recommend The Midland Stop! I ordered an almond flavored latte and it was simply delicious. It wasn't too sweet but still delightfully tasted like an almond cookie. The location was very cute, located near the river. The leaves were changing when we there and it was in such a picturesque area. This is a cute little shop in an even cuter part of downtown Buena Vista, my fiancé and I walked the whitewater river trail for about 45 mins before stumbling upon this little gem on the corner. After entering were immediately greeted by a warm hello and offered to sample one of the many homemade gelato flavors palisade peach and the pistachio were both very delicious!! I opted for a cold brew with a hint of mocha and cinnamon it was everything. My fiancé had a large serving of gelato. Definitely looking forward to returning. Surprisingly bad service here. The shop is in an area of Buena Vista (South Main) where it doesn't get too busy yet it definitely felt like we were imposing by ordering coffee. Next time, we will take the walk to Main St from the Surf Hotel. read more

This coffee shop was a complete surprise and treat while making our way from Denver to the western slope to see the fall colors! It's nestled away behind unpaved roads in Buena Vista. If you think google maps is leading you astray, keep with it and it'll take you to the Midland which is a quaint shop that's been open for a little over a year. The shop is in a small neighborhood that's like a scene out of a movie. The homes and shops seem completely out of place but are so adorable. The prices are very fair and cheaper than what you'd pay in Denver but the quality and care put into each cup is comparable to what you'd get in a big city. My cortado was strong, rich, smooth and topped with a perfect heart on top. My husband's iced vanilla latte was nutty and delicious. They have pastries, chai, tea, breakfast burritos and nice selection of treats to please a variety of people. Definitely a place worth checking out. read more

This is a great little coffee shop right by the river! It is super cute and clean inside. There are tables inside as well as outside seating, or you can take your order to go and enjoy it down by the river. I found the prices to be very fair. They had bottles of water for $1 which was convenient for grabbing before going on hikes along the river. I enjoyed their giant muffins for breakfast. The Midland Stop also has gluten free options for baked goods. I didn't try any of the gelato this time, but I plan on returning to Buena Vista soon. I appreciated the friendly service and I will definitely stop by the The Midland Stop when I'm back in town. read more

Good gelato can be hard to find, especially in a small town. I frequent Buena Vista and while there's no shortage of coffee shops, this place should be on your radar! Homemade gelato with fun flavors is a real treat, especially after a day hiking, riding or rafting in the Valley! Almond Joy and Mint Chocolate Chip were my choices and they were fantastic, using real coconut and real chocolate chips! My kids loved the chocolate and the cherry! The espresso drinks are very traditional authentic Italian beverages. You can't go wrong with any of them. The drip coffee works too! I visited when it first opened and it's great! read more

My wife and I stayed at the surf Château for the weekend. We were given a coupon to come and try Midland stop. We were very happy we did. This place is cute and quaint. Brand new in the new were part of the town. It's definitely a must stop for coffee enthusiasts. I would also suggest getting one of their gluten-free cinnamon rolls. This is my first time in Buena Vista. I've always heard how people are charmed by this little town in the High Mountain Desert of Colorado. I can see why. A great little stop in BV that is most welcome. We stopped in very briefly for some gelato and it was pretty good. Service was friendly and on point. We tried a few flavours and I tried the palisade peaches and cream which was tasty. Four stars for service would of been 5 if the owner would of helped his employee out. Food: I had the Vienna with Oat Milk, the espresso and lattes were wonderful. Highly recommend. We also ordered the veggie breakfast buritto which really hit the spot, huge portion too. I would recommend they wrap the burrito in foil instead of wax paper. Once warmed up in the microwave, the wax paper adheres to the burrito and makes it hard to eat and really messy. Would love to try the gelato next time we're there, maybe affogato style. Service issues: the line was long with 7 people (3 groups) in front of us and everyone was 6ft spaced because of COVID. The group of 3 people in front of us ended up leaving bc it was taking so long (missed revenue for the business). The gal working was very friendly and doing a GREAT job, props to her for being calm while dealing with the crowds. She was taking orders, payments, warming food items and making all the lattes. Most people order espresso drinks here and those just take longer than a drip coffee, for the obvious reasons. Here's where I get annoyed -- the owner started chatting with the couple in front of us. Telling them it was "his shop" and they starting talking about all the people they knew mutually in Denver, etc. Seeing the line was growing and how busy his shop was he headed outside with the couple to continue chatting. His wife joined him too after she refreshed a few items in the fridge. What bothers me is his employee was working her tail off doing everything by herself, the line is out the door by now and he wasn't assisting at all. I own my own service based brick and mortar business and I guess people just do things differently, but when I am at work my priority is always giving good customer service and supporting my employees. If this gentleman would of put himself behind the counter and started ringing up people or took over the latte station they would of been making more money and giving everyone faster and better service. It took us 35 mins to get in and out of this grab and go joint, sigh. I bet the group in front of me wouldn't of left and gone across the street to Eddyline either. read more
