I looked up Joyful Nail on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I always prefer smaller nail places because they're not nearly as hectic and the service tends to be better. And this one did not disappoint. I got a french tip manicure here for $15, and the lady (who is also the owner), did a fantastic job. Best French tip I've had yet. I haven't tried out the massage chairs or the pedicure treatment, but that'll definitely be next. There only seemed to be 2-3 people working the store when I went on Saturday, though, so they had to turn some walk-ins away. But they do accept them. Definitely make an appointment. Parking is hard to find, since it's WeHo, but there is street parking available. The owner (a cute Vietnamese lady) told me there's free parking in the back after 5pm on weekdays and all day on the weekend. That would've saved me some time driving around Santa Monica looking for parking. I'm' definitely going back here. Now that I look at my nails, I feel extra joyful!! read more

It took almost 40 minutes just to get a pedicure and when she was finished, there was still visible dead skin around my nail beds. I had also come to get a fill and get my nails done but there was only one woman doing nails. After being there for an hour and 20 minutes, I went to ask how much longer until I could get my nails done and it looked like she was only halfway finished even though my friend had started her manicure around the same time that I started my pedicure. I don't have the time or patience to potentially be in a nail place for 2.5 hours just for a basic service. Everything was really clean, which was a plus, and everyone was nice but I don't think I'd go back again. read more

I have been coming here every so often over the last few years as they are in my neighborhood. I always just get a MANi-pedi; no gels, no acrylics, no colors... nada. If I'm feeling frisky I will get my nails buffed though! I can't speak to the experience of some of the other patrons below, because my feet & heels are always scrubbed (it really tickles!) when getting the pedi. I didn't even know they don't always do it allegedly. Also, if they are not terribly busy they usually will have someone working on your hands while another person works on your feet. Everyone is really nice, and there is one girl with really cool short hair that I love engaging in conversations with. It makes the experience more enjoyable. For the people below complaining about time spent waiting, I would recommend calling ahead to see if they are busy or to put your name down for a specific time which I usually do prior to going. The mani-pedi chairs have pillows and a massage machine for your neck and back.They also offer you a complimentary beverage (water, coke/diet, etc). You can find a single assigned parking space for their business in the back (enter off Harper) or meters directly in front/on Harper. They are always opening new tools to use and I notice them heavily cleaning the foot tub basin and other forms of sterilization, which I really appreciate. I believe the cost to be low considering all that is done, so it's a great bargain IMO. read more

I used to frequent this spot after I moved to a place just around the corner. I don't expect much out of my nail salons; clean tools, courteous staff and decent service. I go to places like these instead of higher end locations because their prices are competitive and walk-ins are welcome. I have had enough bad experiences that it's time to find a new salon and give the review it deserves. I have on more than one occasion felt like I was a burden to them and had my hands/feet thrown back at me when they are done with that hand/foot, not simply released or placed back down, literally flicked back toward my direction. They are not forthright with the wait times. When I have shown up and they were busy, they tell me "oh wait 10 minutes" and I have waited almost an hour. I'd rather they just be honest and ask me to return at a much later time. On that front, it doesn't appear they honor appointments. I've seen people come in stating they had an appointment and they end up waiting upwards of 15 mins for their service (once almost an hour!). I can't say how clean their tools are as I have not had any infections here, but I also don't see many tools being removed from the sterile packaging, so that's just an observation. Finally, the "massage" that comes with their service is simply a generous slathering of lotion. Usually, a simple service mani/pedi comes with a 5 min massage and theirs is MAYBE a minute to each extremity. Don't come. I used to come once in awhile since it's convenient for me as I live super close. Went last week and spent a lot of money on waxing and gel mani pedi. I don't often treat myself but I got a new job and figured it was worth it since I'd have my nails done for the next 2-3 weeks. Wrong. Went out of town the next day and they began peeling off. I couldn't come back until 3 days later and by then ALL my gels peeled off except for my one pinky. ALL! When I went back this morning and explained this no one said anything to me about being sorry they were all just kind of rude and upset that I came back. But she did them again, this time with a different color (I wanted to make sure it wasn't the paint). HOURS later--no dishes, no water, no possible reason why, they were peeling again! Wtf? By far the WORST gel manicure I have ever received in my life. The nail technician painted over my skin and cuticles, put on 5 layers of polish, there are bubbles, bumps, uneven tone, polish all over my hands, and it's already peeling off my nails after leaving just an hour ago. Plus, she forgot the TOP COAT on one hand. Absolutely shameful that they would charge for this. I will never be back here. read more

They are quick and efficient without a lot of fluff. They do an amazing job at shaping the nail. It's meticulous work. They aren't super chatty here, but I love that. I can drop in really quick and get my nails done without having to keep up with mindless chatter. The only downside is they do like a 5 second hand massage. Seriously. It's not much, but personally the fact that my nails look on point every time I leave matters waaay more to me then a hand massage, and it's why I keep coming back. I stumbled onto this place after being dragged by my then girlfriend and now wife. I was never a manicure guy, but who has Joyful nails converted me. Joyful nails is a wonderful nail salon. I always request "Tu" who has a meticulous attention to detail and always does an excellent job. I have a horrible habit of biting nails / cubicles. However, when I leave, Tu has my hands looking refreshed. Strongly recommend Tu and joyful nails. read more

My friend lives a couple blocks from Joyful Nails & after walking & dancing on Friday and Saturday at FYF, we decided last minute, on a Sunday, to get a mani/pedi at Joy. My friend talked this place up, & is her staple-go-to in the neighborhood. So, we walked down, and my friend said my small dog, was welcomed too, so she trotted along. Joyful Nails is a small space, with high ceilings, coral walls & is located directly on Santa Monica blvd. It is inside a multi level/business building. We walked, so I can't say much for parking but I'm pretty sure there are a couple spots in the back for guests as I watched them walk in & out of this back door. We sat in one of the 6 or so massage chairs they have. I requested my water to be a bit hotter than they maybe use to & they got the water temp perfect. My massage chair worked so nicely. Great selection for a variety of massages. 2 thumbs up. I wish I grabbed my manicurist's name. She was fantastic!! Young and so sweet, and beyond that, super talented; she gave me a reallllly great mani/pedi. For the price point & value equated with the 50 minutes spent there, it really was a great experience. Not a lot of small talk. These ladies work hard, get your nails done and you are out. I like that. I wear Jamberry nail wraps *and I am a consultant* so I demonstrated how to take the nail wraps off. She wanted to file them off, but noooo, I showed her that they come off with nail polish remover or lacquer remover. She giggled after she saw how easy it was. I also brought my own Jamberry lacquer for the manicure, which she seemed to like too. She was very welcoming & kind in response to her new experience in dealing with a product she hadn't seen or used. I write this review 10 days after the fact (ok, sorry, it sat in my draft for awhile) & I do have some chips on my fingernails but not my toenails!! I have to say though, my manicure does not look 10 days old with the few chips I do have; either way I am still getting compliments. Very happy. Some manicurists can be a bit rough & one can end up with small knicks at the cuticle, but not with my manicurist at Joy. Honestly, she was so talented. Thank you for taking care of me. My friend returns for gel manicures / regular pedicures. Her nails looked really fresh. She said her gels last quite awhile at this location. My dog was given a bowl of water & loved the attention she received. Thank you for welcoming her & allowing her to sit next to me during my visit. When visiting my friend in the area, I will definitely be back. I will also recommend this location since I have other friends & co-workers in the area. Their prices are ok and they're really nice but my acrylic set came out awful. I asked for an almond shape and ended up with that... plus it's so thick and the nail polish wasn't applied all the way so you can still see the base color on the sides. I had to go somewhere else to fix it. read more

People on here are a little dramatic. Its a mani/pedi for 22 bux!!! Where else can you go for this price except crenshaw/slauson, inglewood, or gardena? Seriously, this price in West Hollywood is unheard of. The fact that I can walk here is fabulous! I've gone about 4 times now and I never have had issues with the color on my nails. I think it's a cute, clean place...and I love that there is always a cutie pie gay guy next to me gettin his mani/pedi too! So I'm sorry, I did grow up in the hood and I like paying less than 30 bux for a simple mani/pedi...I'm a full time worker and student, so if I can save a buck, I will! It's really unfortunate what has happened to this place, which used to be my favorite nail spot. Back in the day (about a year ago) I could go here and get an awesome 22 dollar manicure. Since then they have remodeled the inside, hired new people and upped the price to 27. Now I can understand when you improve things maybe you want to charge more, but none of the changes to the salon have made the nail experience better. They are still using the exact same chairs and they kept all the same nail polish bottles. And the two guys who did my manicure last time were awful. They were very rushy with me and didn't do a good job. The manicure lasted a couple days and the pedicure didn't last much longer. I can do a better job in my bathroom. Sad to say I won't be back. So I checked this place out because it was super close to my home. I walked in the price on the wall said 35 for mani pedi but the other signs said 45 for special mani pedi so the extra 10 dollar difference is just a hot towel wrap and sugar scrub massage I was like sure I will try it. Well let me start by saying the staff was nice but seems like no one spoke any english I tried to make conversation and just got a nod the chairs were decent as well as the environment seemed clean the music they were playing was like elevator music and the ac wasn't that great got a lil stuffy towards the end of my mani and pedi. Far as the mani and pedi go definitely was a okay job nothing special. Was somewhat uneven nail cut. Also I they did my mani in the pedi chair which I can't stand cuz they never do a good job cuz your moving from the massager and the person doing your feet. I gave this place 3 stars due to lack of communication with service overall atmosphere and they just didn't do a great job. I would recommend somewhere else read more

I really wanted to like this place, especially since I live 4 blocks from the salon and had read all these great reviews, but I left with a bloody toe. I don't mind having a guy working on my feet. I do mind when anyone working on me cuts way too far into my cuticles. OUCH! It's been almost a week, and it still hasn't fully healed. The guy who did my pedi told me it was his 2nd day on the job. Oh goodness! Never a good sign! Annie had another one of her workers take over for "2nd day on the job" guy, and was really good about making sure a good job was done. We found Joyful Nails while on vacation in LA, because we looked at YELP! We were down the street at Cafe Marco and said let's get a mani/pedi. Lucky us- this place was a block away and not busy. I got a manicure and pedicure. They clipped my finger nails and put mineral oil on my finger tips that dripped onto my clothes. And never touched my heels while performing the pedicure. No scrubbing, messaging or even placing lotion on the heels of my feet. read more

I went to my regular spot "T Nails and Spa" on Pico & Fairfax. Tina must have been having a bad day because she totally jacked me up. I felt like I was wear claws. I called Joyful Nails after reading the great reviews on Yelp. I spoke with Annie and explained to her that I had just gotten this bad set and could she do anything to fix them. I showed up at 6:15pm and found a great parking spot. Annie was friendly and she saw were the problems were and immediately went to work. She did an amazing job correcting Tina's mistakes. OK people, there must be some sort of alternate universe Joyful Nails on Bizarro Santa Monica Boulevard! I went there solely based on the amazing reviews I read on Yelp, but found none of the redeeming qualities that others seem to have found. First of all, they DO have hidden fees, such as an extra $5 for callous removal and an extra $4 for French. And DO NOT get that darn callous removal, because my gramma could do a better job than these people, not to mention that ME, YOU, or ANYONE could to a better job with a callous file from Walgreen's and 5 minutes time. NOT WORTH IT!! I walked out with heels just as rough as when I walked in. WTF??? Also, they do take walk ins, and as a walk in I understand that you may have to wait a bit, but my friends and I waited over 30 minutes while 2 pedicure chairs sat open. They do not have a large selection of colors, they are minimally clean and sanitary, and seemingly careless (the woman working on my feet cut my toe and when I asked her to stop she ignored me :( ) I recently relocated to LA and was shocked to learn that you could get a mani-pedi here for around $25, but with all the add-ons here the bill was much more than that, leading me to believe that this place is not a good value at all and I'm sure you can get much better service for the same price or less elsewhere. Plus, if you plan on tipping, you need to bring cash because they do not hav a tip line on their credit card machine. Ghetto! Since it's an extreme rarity when I do have cash, I was unable to tip, but I honestly wouldn't have tipped anyway because of the terrible service and the poor quality of the work done. Joyful nails was awesome! I will definitely be heading back here when my toes are in need. It was $18 for a pedicure and if i understand right it is less if you're not in one of the massage chairs. (I think the pedicure massage chair is the biggest waste of money invented in the last ten years) But cest la vie, i was already settled in when i realized my mistake. There were only two women working when i went. I believe my technician was the not-owner, out of the two. She did a fantastic job, and the one up sell, that i was offered I took, for $5 i got callous treatment that was so awesome... I get blissfull just thinking about it. Even if i never had a callous again I would get this treatment again, very relaxing and pleasant. Bill was $24. 5 for callous, and 1 extra for credit card. I usually go to Lanny's went to this place on a whim. I just got a mani but they have spa chairs here. I am a person who doesn't like spa chairs personally. I think that massaging is annoying and when you go to a place that just uses a bucket with a liner it's much more hygienic. Those chairs can get pretty gnarly I know I'm vietnamese. But when they use the implements they take them out of one of those " sterilizer pouches" not sure if they even went into one of those things but whatever. These ladies are vietnamese and are very nice. The nail place I usually go to they ladies always ask me in vietnamese " Cung,Em you don't have a boyfriend, You have a good job, oh you doctor, oh you pretty, honey, you must really suck" But even so I'll keep going back to my old place. French was an extra 5, so like 17 for just mani. It's a cheap mani to begin with and my normal place only charges 2 extra. read more

First time going to a nail salon in LA I mistakenly chose this place. I waited forever for the one lady in the salon who claims to know how to do sns. Halfway through the service I noticed she really did not know what she was doing. I asked her to fix a few nails, and after her few attempts I ended up taking the file and filing my own nails. The polish chipped off before I even left the place, making me beg for my money back. I was denied multiple times until tears came to my eyes and they finally gave me my money back so that the other customers didn't have to see all of this. Highly disappointed. If you're looking for a quick manicure this might be your place, but if you are looking for sns or acrylics I recommend finding somewhere professional to go to. read more

My nails always break!!!! I've had acrylics and got them done 4 times here cause it's close to my house and they always break after just 2-3 days. Many times they've refused to fix them but then eventually agreed. Twice they've answered the phone and promised me to fix them the next day and when I got there they totally denied ever saying that. Last time 4 nails broke after 2 days and when i came back and told them to fix them, they charged me $35 for 2 new nails and when they broke again they said they only charged me $20 and didn't give up until I showed them my receipt. Joyful nails is clean, friendly, and the technicians do an outstanding job. I've been going to this salon for over a year now, and nothing else in Los Angeles or Beverly Hills can compare. The chairs are comfortable, and they do the best manicure/pedicure I have ever had done at a very reasonable price. Annie runs the shop with her husband, and they have both been in the 'Nail' business for many years and have run other salons in the LA area. So they have a lot of experience and know what they are doing. Joyful Nails my not be as fancy as the salon I used to go to in Beverly Hills, but they do a much better job and it is always a much more pleasant experience. I highly recommend it!
