I never used to get manicures or pedicures on a regular basis because the few I did get were never worth the price. Joyful Nails proved that good quality will make you a frequent customer. Started with just getting pedicures and they were always good: you sit in a massage chair as you get deep clean of toes--especially if you have extra requests--lotion rub down then quick 2-minute massage on legs, then application of polish which is always done well. Next I started to get manicures here as well and their skills are great. Very precise 9 times out of 10, especially with gel manicures. $18 pedicure, $12 manicure or $32 gel manicure (though be warned they charge an extra $5 for removing prior gel polish if going for a reapplication). They also do good eyebrow waxes. Free water or Coca Cola if you request. They speak basic English. I went to other, more elegant nail salons, but they never seem to match up to Joyful's level of polish application precision. Plus they're friendly even if you can't carry a conversation with them. read more

This place is in a prime location right next to my job! It's a small intimate shop but I love it! Parking is located in the back on on the street. If you park on the side street, beware that most of West Hollywood streets, you are not allowed to park after 7pm. I love it here! I was in and out and the PRICES ARE AMAZING!! If you are in the WEHO area stop by. They have plenty of colors and the technicians are really nice! My technician performed surgery on my feet! ahaha He was wonderful! He was very precise and really took the time out to make sure my nails were even. There are also many movie stars who frequent this place. Prices again were super cheap. Bring some cash or use their ATM machine. You get a discount for paying cash. I will be back! This is now my spot! read more

Discovered this place on accident but so glad i did. Teddy does an excellent mani & pedi job. He's super detailed and thorough. Really takes his time to ensure your cuticles are well trimmed and nails are well filed before putting on nail polish. The place/ambiance itself is a bit noninviting. It's not like those highend nail boutique places, but it's comfortable enough. I really appreciate the sanitary way they go about pedis with the plastic coverings they use on the foot tub every time. A mani + pedi is $29, and they only except cash tips. I would have given it 5 stars, but between the lack luster ambiance & the mandatory cash tip rule, i couldn't. I have gone back a few times, and will definitely continue to so as long as Teddy's there to do my nails. read more

i just left the salon without a manicure. The tech overloaded the brush when I told her not to over do it, then started rushing when one of her regular clients arrived. As she sped through my manicure the hand towel grazed a few nails because she moved me from the station to a different table to finish drying my nails. I immediately showed her the goopy mess on three nails, and instead of removing the product and starting over she tried to add more polish to make it smooth. I told her I would appreciate it if she just redid them, but she only redid two. The fan created weird ripples on the coating, so she had another tech try to fix them. He attempted to do the same thing by applying more polish, but I asked him to redo it. Even when the nails were seemingly dry you could see imperfections in the polish. Once I walked to my car, two of the trouble nails became smudged. I walked back in to show her, and told her I was not satisfied with the nail job, and she proceeded to wipe all the nails. She tried to blame it on the polish I brought, but only a few were ruined because she rushed. Neither tech waited a reasonable amount of time before applying further coats of products. She didn't even want to reimburse me for the bloody manicure, nor did she apologize. I used to come here regularly before the closures, but now that my tech (Beanz) is gone, I'm not returning. I'm stuck with rough nails until I find a more professional salon. I'd urge others to steer clear of this place. read more

I went in for a gel mani pedi and the woman who was doing my nails kept getting my hands wet with the nail remover, but it gets worse--she squirted it right in my face!!! I asked if someone else could do it and a young man came over scraping the gel off my nails and not doing what a manicure entails..........they not only got nail remover on my face they didn't even compensate me at all--WORSE experience in the world!!! read more

I am looking at my nails right now while typing and thinking...damn my nails look good! I went to Joyful Nails all the way in Hollywood because of the great reviews it had on Yelp. I went there with a hot mess nail set I got from a nail shop near me at the mall. I mean these nails were in my way and I couldn't do anything with them. I kept nipping my poor one year old son and couldn't type and I work as a programmer. Annie heard my complaints and came up with the best full set I've ever had with a beautiful even and natural looking french manicure. Too bad it's all the way in Hollywood but I will continue to make the trek for a beautiful set of nails. P.S. I have never in my life been treated the way this salon treated me. I went to get a nail fixed and they were so incredibly rude, trying to sell me on the Gel, and after I refused and said I don't like it, they did the crappiest job and said "this is how it works when you tell me how you want it". Thanks to Yelp, I have found my spot for the perfect mani-pedi. If you want a she-she spa-esque experience, this is not your place. It is a humble little spot on Santa Monica Blvd, in the center of WeHo. It is owned and operated by a husband and wife duo who are both friendly, professional and, pampering. They sort of tag-teamed me with what I am assuming is their preferred duty. Mister gave a kick ass foot massage and Mrs. painted my nails to perfection. Remember the Sienfeld episode where Elaine has her nails done at a salon and she just knows all the technicians are talking smack about her? If you've had your nails done at any given Fancy Nail, Happy Nail, Magic Nail, or Beauty Nail ~ you've likely had this experience. How nerve wrecking is that?!? Well... Joyful Nail is the exception. Nothing but peaceful relaxation and a gorgeous job on my fingers and toes. Perfect attention to detail... not a cuticle overlooked. 3 days later and after daily trips to the gym ~ my mani - pedi looks as shiny and perfect as when I stepped out of the salon. ... and none of those annoying hidden costs such as "you want extra massage? $5" "you want callus removal? $5" "vibrating chair... $5" Nope ~ Joyful Nail covers all the bases for $28! I have been going to Joyful for the last year since moving to West Hollywood. Its not the best place, but I like the staff. Yesterday, however, all of that changed. I took my brother in for his birthday to get his nails done. The first thing I see is one of the ladies shaving her heel crust using the electronic acrylic nail file. In front of everyone. On to a towel. She then got up, put the file back without cleaning it, and came around to do my brother's nails. We were sitting there, disgusted, but didn't say anything as I come in a lot. That would have been one strike. But then the guy (I don't know his name, but he is the really sweet guy with black hair) came to do my nails. About halfway through the manicure I noticed that he has a gaping cut on his thumb and that is wasn't covered. I had a hangnail that he cut so you can see my utter shock that he hadn't covered his cut. It wasn't bleeding, but it was definitely red and I didn't notice until he brushed his thumb with the cut over my hangnail. This is unacceptable for a nail salon. There are so many health concerns that I don't need to list to address the fact that if you have an open cut, you need to cover it, especially given this business wherein people come in and often have hangnails around the cuticles. I hate to give a bad review because they do a great job on nails but this is unacceptable and I will never, EVER be visiting again. read more

Used to go here as my local spot, but more recently they have done a very rushed job and I leave with paint on my nails, dry cuticles and uneven polish. Last time I went they made me change chairs half way through, left the edges of my nails sharp and uneven and didn't give me enough time to dry my gel manicure in the blue light before adding more polish. I have been to far too many nail salons here in Los Angeles, and in my home state of New York, and I can honestly say that this is the ONLY place I trust. I have been to some of the best places in Beverly Hills and Malibu, but I can still say that this is the best. Annie is meticulous. She is great at what she does. They don't try to sell you unnecessary treatments, and, unlike some other salons I have been to, the services here actually LAST. They are clean, although short-staffed at times. I would recommend an appointment. But if you drop in, they try to get to you as soon as possible. I have been going here since I moved to West Hollywood 2 years ago, and I would drive miles to get here- that's how good they are. I've gone to In Style nails down the street, and forget it! They seem to be more interested in brown nosing than getting the job done right. You will save more money and feel like a person, not a number. read more

When I arrived there was no greeting and they looked at me confused, then said there was a 40 min wait after I explained they told me to come now. Super rude!! Do NOT get your eyebrows done here. I came in to have cleaner and more shapely brows to work with. I told the lady that I just wanted a clean up. She left my left brow literally botched. She began to cut my brow to shape it after she waxed it. It literally looked like a zig zag! She told me that she did not cut it, but those were just my brows. So I went in without checking any reviews and was greeted immediately which was cool. I advised them that I wanted to have the set that I had on removed and a new set applied because it had been a while since I had a new set and the colored tips that I originally wanted would have looked funky with previous fill lines showing. The woman with the highlights who was tending to me insisted that I didnt need a new set and that it was pretty time consuming anyways. She started doing a fill and when it came time to shape was unsure of what I meant by a small curved shape so I pulled a picture up from google to show her what I meant. She tried to do it but they mostly just look square and crooked. I showed her that on my pinky nail there was still a bump and that it made it look even more curved on the side of the nail at which point she told me that was because my finger was crooked (yes my Pinky's are crooked but that doesn't make the nail itself crooked). When she was applying the clear powder for the fill I told her that I could still see the line underneath and she said that when she put the gel on you wouldn't be able to see it (crap! I've encountered that before and all gel would do it make it shiny and even more obvious!) When I noticed how badly they were turning out I decided to opt for the full nail gel color in hopes that would make it better. I changed my mind from doing a black tip with purple sparkles to a solid light pink color... Could have sworn the world was ending with the attitude that brought on! The nails ended up very clumpy and a couple of awkwardly shaped ones and the customer service was poor at best. I have never felt so inclined to leave a yelp review as I do at this very moment. Such a miserable experience which sucks because these are supposed to be my anniversary nails. Thanks alot, lady! Maybe the salon will see my review and next time someone gives them the exact idea of what they want they will actually try to make an effort to do what the customer wants instead of imposing what would be more convenient for them. Two words: STAPH INFECTION I can't tell you that the staph bacteria came from this nail salon, but I can tell you that the ER doctor at Cedars who drained my infected toe told me that my cuticle had been cut way too short, allowing bacteria to enter my toe under the cuticle. Three rounds of antibiotics later, I had to have the nail completely removed by another doctor to get rid of the infection. That was my first and last visit to Joyful Nails. I should have known better than to put my feet into one of their tubs. I need to stick to salons that use disposable tub inserts. On top of that, it wasn't a great pedicure! read more

I went to Joyful Nails for my first pedicure *ever* yesterday, and I am mighty impressed. I take good care of my feet and toes, but my heels are a major challenge. They completely fell apart, so on a neighbor's suggestion, I made an appointment for a pedicure and callous removal at Joyful Nails. Today my feet look human again!! It's absolutely incredible. I will definitely be going back. What I like best about Joyful Nails is that it is very clean and quiet, and there are no over the top frills or pretenses -- just a lovely staff; great, careful work; very reasonable prices ($18 for pedicure and $7 for callous removal, which was well worth it); and all of the polish they offer is as non-toxic as it gets (OPI and Essie). I'm thrilled Joyful Nails is in my neighborhood, and I'm excited to go back for another pedicure and heel treatment...and a first manicure! read more

I went to Joyful Nails mainly because of the cheaper price. The ladies are nice, but as some have mentioned, the quality is equal to the price. Two of my nails chipped the night I got them done and all I did was go to dinner. It was a clean salon, but for and extra $10 you can get a much better job somewhere else. At the end the mani/pedi still cost me $40. Oh and when I tipped them (20%) they both kind of looked away from me and didn't say thank you. It was very odd behavior. This is my second time going here for a pedicure. The first time sucked cuz the paint job was mediocre. It was a bit messy and then they wouldn't take American which sucked. I think at the time they didn't take any other card either? This time was much better. I had cash but I saw that they also took card too, but still no AmEx. The shop is clean and comfortable and they have a good collection of quality nail polish with brands like OPI and Essie. Availability of quality nailpolish matters a lot to me because it makes the mani/pedi last a lot longer. This time they did a good job on the pedicure and the massage chair was nice. They let me sit in it for as a long as I wanted since they weren't too busy. The pricing is good too, for the area. West Hollywood nail salons can be pretty pricey. read more

Staff were friendly and was very clean, but didn't love my gel manicure. Nails cut too short and the colour wasn't dark enough - a bit too transparent. Plus they filed the nails after the whole polish was done... I've never encountered this before and have no doubt it's filed off all the polish protection at the end of the nails. No doubt to get them to chip earlier so you have to go back, but I certainly won't be. read more

It's fine. Used to be a lot better. Not my regular salon but a place I'll stop in at in a rush because it's close to my house. The polish selection is old, nothing new or on trend, just a bunch of basic OPI colors. Apparently they have drinks for customers; I wasn't offered one so I wouldn't know. Apparently they have massage chairs for mani/pedi; I wouldn't know as I sat in a chair getting a mani/pedi for 40 minutes without the offer to turn mine on. I have given this place 4 tries to get it 'Right' and have been disappointed 3 out of 4 times. The first time had a manny/pedi...my cuticles were badly nicked and the pedi left me with sore feet for several days afterwards. The second experience...I was told the wait would only be 15 minutes...4 times...finally got up and left. The third time...Danny did my eyebrows to perfection. Just today...the fourth time...I made an appointment only to be met with the frustrating line...only 15 minutes. No...I made an appointment...so the lady gets up and starts the water for a manny/pedi...then hurries me in to do my eyebrows...Well the outcome is luckily I wear my hair parted to left side...because my left eyebrow doesn't match the "Right" one!!! This place is amazing!! I get the fullset of acrylics done here and they r amazing. They do it carefully and with precision. I had a lot of fullsets done all over the world and this is the best place I ever had them done at. They last great and they dont just viciously file down your nails. I love my full sets and the infills are fast and great quality. I also love the pedicures. All the staff are friendly but not overly chatty if you are busy and need to focus. I love that. As a hairstylist who knows the laws I can honestly say I feel like they are completely clean and safe. This is my neighborhood (lucky me) nail salon, and out of convenience, I went there regularly for pedicures........until the staff switched. Now there is a nasty, rude male/female couple who clearly do not know the meaning of the word JOYFUL, and certainly don't attempt to convey anything close in the overall atmosphere in the place. They would rather have their only 2 operators work on one person (yes, one on the left hand and one on the right foot) rather than satisfy 2 clients at the same time.....and by the way-they keep their clock 10 minutes fast, so it looks like YOU'RE late for your appointment.....................I say.....PASS-A-DENA!!!! P.S. anyone who thinks the barely adequate work done in this place is "great" clearly doesn't get out much....... read more

I've been coming here for over a year and a half now. It's really close to where I live and the prices I think are good. The staff is really friendly too. I get my manicures and eyebrow waxing done. I don't know his name, but there's two main guys who work there - one has hair and one is bald. Honestly the best eyebrow waxing and shaping I've ever gotten is from the guy with the hair. He is meticulous and really takes his time. As for the comments about nail polish chipping, I really don't know. I like the way they do the manicures here, but I DO bite my nails so I can't give an accurate account on that. read more

Genuinely one of the worst nail places I've ever been to. First, They forgot about my appointment. I was there for over two hours and they didn't have time to finish my manicure. The nails are completely uneven, not enough color on a few of them, sloppy around the cuticle. When I told the nail tech I had to leave In 15 mins she snapped back and told me "I didnt tell her I was in a hurry". I wasn't in a hurry I figured 2 hours would be plenty of time for a mani pedi, but apparently not? My pedicure was completely chipped less than 24 hours later.
