The text were a little slower, but they always did good work but most importantly the owner is such a greeter if you walk in she'll get to know your name if you go back a second time, she'll know it again. I visited Serenity Nails for the first time a few days ago for a gel manicure and paid cash. Within two days, multiple nails chipped, so I returned to have them fixed. The same technician redid them, but now only another two days later, three nails have completely fallen off and others are already chipping again at the tips. During both visits, I noticed my nails were not cured under the UV light for the proper amount of time, and the technician aggressively filed the tips even after I asked her not to. At this point, after two failed attempts in less than a week, I do not feel comfortable returning for a third repair. I've been coming here for months and the service is incredible! It's very clean and all the staff is lovely. They give out great complimentary drinks at the start of every session, and offer relaxing add ons like foot/ hand/ neck/ scalp massage (if someone is free for it of course). Of course this place is quality so it's not exactly cheap/ bargain but I don't mind paying at all for how nice it is. It's very dog friendly and my boyfriend usually comes and loves the vibes. Kinda disappointed this time as a regular. I called ahead for a 230 appointment. I arrived at 2:24. They seated me. Then for 20 minutes no one came and spoke to me. 4 people walked in after me and their services were started before mine. My service did not start until almost 2:50p. Because they started late, I had to cancel my manicure because I would have been late for my next appointment, which would not have occurred had we started on time. I am a regular customer here and very disappointed this time around. :( I wish they had just told me to come another time if they could not start on time or honored my appointment time. read more

It really depends on who you get as your nail tech here -- I personally love Suzy and Athina. But I recently went to refresh my gel manicure without booking an appointment and the male tech completely ruined my strong nails by drilling off the old gel instead of soaking it off. Originally he asked if I had hard gel on (it was regular gel) because my nails were very rigid when he squeezed them from the sides. He then proceeded to drill all the way down to the surface instead of soaking and it made my nails so thin. This morning my index fingernail BENT which hasn't happened EVER with gel on my nails. I'm actually pretty upset because there is no way I'm going to be able to keep the length of my nails after this cycle. Additionally my polish job was very hastily done, leaving me with messy cuticle lines. My advice is to make an appointment with a tech you like and be very specific about your service. I'm really disappointed since I've been coming here for awhile and this is the first time I've ever felt like my nails are completely ruined. read more

As a longtime fan and client of Isle of Serenity on Santa Monica Blvd, I was eagerly awaiting this new nail spa from the fantastic owner of Isle of Serenity, Ashley, and my favorite nail guru, Mason. Calling Serenity on Sunset a nail salon doesn't do this gorgeous setting justice - it's a nail / waxing / facial SPA! From the moment you walk in the door, you feel relaxed and pampered. Every single member of the team was warm, kind, welcoming, and amazing at what they do. Each and every element of the space - even the lighting fixtures and floor - looks fancy yet inviting. Not one detail was overlooked here. The oversized cream colored massage chairs look like they belong in a Bentley they're so luxurious, and I LOVE the pearlescent glass pedicure bowls at the base of each massage chair! They were all sparkling clean with adjustable foot rests for different treatments during a pedicure. The manicure tables are stunning - custom made with comfy velvet chairs that just make you want to stay a while, and there are multiple private rooms for facials and waxing. Even the chairs in the waiting area look like something out of Restoration Hardware. I opted for a manicure / pedicure with my favorite duo, Mason and his mom Nancy. They are truly the best! Mason is incredibly talented, detailed, gentle, and so creative! It doesn't matter whether I'm doing the same pale pink manicure for the 10th time or asking for microscopic rhinestones on my nails, he can truly do it all. He puts his heart into everything and his love for his work is evident. Even when I'm in a rush, Mason puts me at ease and makes me feel calm, and still gets me in and out in under an hour. If you're indecisive on nail color like I am, you'll appreciate the wide selection of regular, gel, powder and more nail polish. So many options, and I love the high quality brands that are vegan and non-toxic. I also love that they carry extensive gel colors with matching plain polish for toes. None of them are the same length (especially my middle finger, she made it longer than the rest) I asked for short round almond. My wife and i went to Serenity for manicures. She requested the Dazzle Dry because it lasts for over a week if applied properly (which means waiting between coats). Last time they did not wait long enough between each coat's application and it only lasted three days. This is the second time this has happened to her at Serenity. I have been coming here for over a year and visit every 3 to 4 weeks, but I will not be returning because of my experiences with Mason over time. He is consistently rude and tends to overcharge me. He doesn't listen to what I say and often talks over me. Myy nail broke and the polish was wearing off at the tips. I asked for a polish change, and he charged me $35, even though I had just paid $90 the week before to the date. Here's what happened: At first, Mason said the charge was because I wanted a new color. I explained that I was open to having the same color, but my nail technician recommended a new one due to what happen with the last. Then, he claimed I should have had my original nail technician do my nails. I mentioned that I had requested her when I called, and I had no idea they were assigning me to someone else. I also tried to show him my text messages with my regular technician about how disappointed I was in my service last week. He said I should have called to talk to management then. As I left, I said I wasn't coming back and he said okay your choice... I'm really disappointed with this entire experience and how I was treated, especially considering how much I've spent over time with there establishment. It seems unfair that they would overcharge customers and not take it out of the original technician's commission. read more

Amazing Staff snd service. Unfortunately my manicure started chipping the next day. Products used aren't great quality.

I really wanted to like this place. The space is really nice and relaxing, and the employees are all very sweet. That being said, I have given it three tries and this last time will be it for me. I paid $70 for the worst dip manicure i've ever had. Within 24 hours they started chipping (my dip usually lasts 4+ weeks). Not only that, my cuticles look AWFUL. They are ripped up, red and swollen and badly cut. They also left so much color on the edges of my skin, it looks so sloppy. I am embarrassed to walk around with these nails. The price also says dip is $60, but they charge $5 for removal and they charged me an additional $5 to shape my natural nail. I have never had a nail salon charge me to shape my natural nail, that's always included in the price of the manicure (note- I didn't do some kind of crazy difficult shape either). I would give this place 1 star instead of 2, but Athena did a really great job on my pedicure (if you go, book with Athena). read more

This review is specifically about Athena, the nail tech who did my nails. I've had a generally good experience previously at the salon otherwise. I went in today to have my Gel X (Apres) set removed. Anyone who gets Gel X often knows that 1. You use an E-file to remove the top coat and polish 2. You trim the tips with a clipper 3. You wrap nails with acetone and 4. You SCRAPE the remainder of the gel off, usually with a cuticle pusher. Athena was clearly in a rush because she sat down, quickly e-filed the polish/extensions, and instead of wrapping each individual nail she had me put BOTH hands into a tiny bowl with acetone. The worst part though is that instead of then SCRAPING the remainder of the gel off, she kept e-filing the gel which only files it down, it doesn't remove it from the nail bed. I told her TWICE that she should scrape it off with a tool rather than continuing to just file down the gooey gel, but she ignored my comments and continued. I left the salon still with a hard coat of filed down gel on my nails. So disappointed that she was not only rushing (for seemingly no reason), but that she ignored my guidance and that she hasn't been trained to PROPERLY remove Gel X. People who get Gel X often know the difference and you can clearly see the light colored layer of gel still on my nail bed in the picture. So disappointing. read more
