We went to Jp's and we were very happy with our dinner. It has a great vibe. It iss really nice and clean. They had live music the day we went, which was on a Friday. We ordered the steak bites, the cajun cream pasta with Salmon and shrimp. Also, a blackened grouper sandwich. The pasta was awesome and there was a lot of it. The steak bites were really good and it was a pretty good sized portion. My husband's grouper sandwich was just okay. He felt that it was over seasoned, not really blackened. Overall, we were very satisfied with our waitress and food. I would've given a 4.5 stars if That was an option. I am only taking off half a star because the grouper sandwich was just okay. I would definitely recommend this place. We live in Ann Arbor and were looking for a restaurant to sit by the water while dining that wasn't too far away from our house. I was visiting my parents and we wanted to grab some food on a waterfront. My dad found a review for JP's, and we gave it a try. The back deck is such a pleasant atmosphere, right over the Detroit River, and I love that they had an outdoor waiting area with ample seating. It made the hour-long wait much more pleasant, especially after grabbing some drinks at the bar. We had the calamari appetizer special and it was really good: much richer and more unique than just a fried calamari. My buffalo chicken sandwich was HUGE and tasty. My dad seemed quite pleased with his fish, though my mom said the coconut shrimp were just okay. The menu is mostly upscale, bar-type food, but it was all prepared well and there were plenty of options for fresh, well-prepared veggies as sides. Our server seemed busy, but things moved along really quickly. It was also nice to see a floor manager (I'm guessing) assisting the outdoor servers, making sure everyone was taken care of in a timely way on a busy evening. Our favorite restaurant! Great food, service and atmosphere! Only problem is we don't live closer. We have to drive about 40 minutes each way! If it was closer, we would go every week! The food comes hot and fast and very reasonable prices! Highly recommend! read more

When there today 8-9-24. Had butter milk chicken sandwich, which was 11 dollars. KFC chicken is much better and half the price. Still have the same terrible chairs for the outside seating so we had to stay inside at a booth. Wish they would get some better chairs my back kills me sitting in the chairs outside. read more

We have been loving this place. I have taken multiple people there, everyone but my husband. So finally, we had a lunch date and to JP's we went. The pressure was on after all the bragging and raving I had done. We ate out side but though it was so hot, there was a breeze. Then the bees were terrible. Then it took forever for us to get our food. Then the onion rings that have been the best ever were so large they were hard to eat. My husband's coconut shrimp was very dark almost over cooked. Then my garlic shrimp was good and I enjoy putting it in my baked potato like usual...but the sauce was different. Not quite as good as before. So I will not give up because I have LOVED it so much. There were a couple of servers and hostess were brand new and answered questions, I don't know cause I just started. So it is still the best around! I have friends I am sending this week to eat. there and I suggested get sandwiches or the specials of the day. read more

We tried JP's Waterfront and it was great! The food, service and atmosphere were just what we wanted. We knew it was going to be good when we saw bone marrow as the special appetizer of the day! The salad was crunchy and fresh ingredients, the dressy thick and creamy. The bone marrow was awesome and a generous serving! The duck was cooked to perfection and my lemon sole was a very generous portion. Our waitress was very accomodating and pleasant. We chatted with the manager about how much we love bone marrow...definitely will be going here again real soon! read more

Highly recommend!! Food is delicious and staff is fabulous!! Our family chose JP's to have lunch and celebrate a family member's achievement. We had our five month old grandson with us, too. Food was very yummy (especially the mac and cheese). Although the wait was over an hour long, it was worth it because the environment is fun with the live music and places is to drink. Only thing I will say is the music was hella loud which was annoying when i could barely hear the person i was sitting across from even if the it was good it just sucked that it was so loud. Ordered a Reuben.. came with NO Thousand Island dressing, NO Swiss Cheese. Meat was tender and delicious however as was the sauerkraut. Sis ordered a Cheese Quesadilla, and found it to be 'mediocre' at best. Bowl of Onion soup was good, and other party member had a individual size pizza and said it was very good. Largest Waterfront eating spot Downriver with 300 capacity plus 45 transiant boat slips will be booming all summer long. Yes they own the Taylor JP Mcquires location for a decade famous for the really great food and reasonable prices, note it's just the same here. Trisha our superstar waitress so friendly and gave us full 5 star service. Full menu of Steaks n Seafood with lots of Bar food. Mega delicious Wings got 12 in a bath of Sweet Chili Sauce twice as big as the chains sell. She got a most excellent Cobb Salad topped with Marinaded Chicken n the Great Ranch dressing. A order of the Canadian Poutine spot on. A Bacon Cheddar Ranch Double Patty Burger with OMG hand cut n Battered Onion Rings Wonderful full pound Burger we shared. A super special multi Cheese Mac topped with Bacon absolutely fantastic. YES we had two boxes of leftovers. Just a few tables on Patio for drinking only or wait for a table, only took ten minutes for ours. Such a enjoyable view of the waterfront, a must visit soon for all Downriver. JP watering is always busy! They usually have live music on the deck which is fun. There is usually a wait, but you can make online reservations or join the waitlist from home. Food is decent, but does take a while when they are really busy. read more

Great new place downriver. Fantastic location and the huge deck rocks every weekend in the summer. Get there early. Food is very good and a terrific value. Must try the pretzel appetizer. Onion rings are also top notch. Be ready for a huge order. If you order this as a side, you probably won't finish your meal. I'll start by saying the food I've had has been amazing! I've been a couple times with my dad and sat at the bar and I really loved the staff and atmosphere all around, great drinks too. My dad goes almost weekly now, probably known as the guy with the R8, and I can't wait to return and sit outdoors finally where you're siting right off the lake and have a gorgeous view! My only complaint is I've ordered carry out 3 times from here and every time my order was messed up. I live super close down the street and have a busy 2 year old so eating out isn't always worth the effort lol but I still want a good meal I don't have to cook after working all day. Their fish and chips is the BEST around town I've had. The last time I ordered it carry out though my side salad was completely left out and I asked for extra tartar sauce and instead got no tartar sauce... unfortunately my bf picked it up and doesn't check before leaving. I never called to complain because I was a waitress all through college and can never bring myself to complain. I understand they were busy and perhaps just bad luck happening to me multiple times. Dining in I've had no issues! I will still return but likely won't order carry out again, or at least will check bag closely. Great views patio and staff. We have been there both weekday and weekend early evening. He weekend wasn't bad just busy. They had a band it was a little too loud but enjoy the entertainment. The food & drinks are delicious. Prices are reasonable. The time wait for food was a little too long on the weekend, but expected with the volume of orders. So I suggest order an appetizer if you are hungry right away with your drinks. Love the location and will be going back. read more

We did not have a good experience. It took an hour to get our food. After about 40 minutes waiting for it, the waitress came to our table and said she just checked on it and it was almost ready. Obviously that wasn't true. When we finally got it....our french fries were old and cold. My cod would've been good if it wasn't cold too. The wings looked great but were also cold and overcooked. There is no way our food had just been made. I understand it was busy but I think we were forgotten about because the outside area was so busy. We sat for an hour watching the tables around us getting food, their waitresses checking on them and receiving great service. We won't be going back. read more

I really like this location but if they have live music, avoid it. It's so loud the staff is visibly disturbed. You can't hear who your sitting with and the staff can't hear your order. Tonight even the manager turned down the musicians at least twice after surveying the dining area and outside seating. The musicians kept turning their sound back up. read more
