Today was the fourth time we've had takeout from this place this year. Because of the past three times with them getting my wife's order of a dinner salad wrong with not putting the chicken on the side, I spelled out to them specifically to put the chicken for the salad in a completely different container and not to put it on the salad. My dinner order was supposed to come with Coleslaw. When I got home, there was no coleslaw in the ties up bag. I called and told them I didn't get the coleslaw that is on my paper order. The girl on the phone said I could come back to get it. I told here my linguine dish would turn cold by the time I did that and got back home. I asked if they'd be willing to remake this dinner dish if I came back for the coleslaw. She had no answer. Don't do carry out from this place! read more

Lloyd's is a location that stands out for its' specials and the atmosphere. When walking in for the first time, you feel welcomed and as though you are a part of a tight knit community. Servers are friendly and there are a lot of old people (aka the regulars) who may get upset if you take their "spot" that they have been sitting in for 25 years, at the bar. Food service is pretty quick and most of the time the food tastes good. It's not going to blow you away but if you're looking for a spot that resembles a funeral home with food service, and that has good burgers and nachos, this is your place! read more

The first two times we ate there, the food was wonderful. Especially the mussels Diablo. The third time, the food was good but the wait for service after being seated and the wait for food was very long. The only food-related concern was that 3 of the mussels had not opened. Went there Saturday night and it was a completely different story. The mussels were cold, the Diablo sauce tasted like tomato sauce and 1/3 did not open. I had the Ciungan shrimp and 3 were glued together in one big clump. The fries which had been crispy on the outside and perfect inside were cold and soggy. The place to meet-and-greet on the island. It fronts Macomb, the main street, and in warm weather you can sit out on the patio and wave at your neighbors. And then they can discuss how you have time to drink during the afternoon but not cut your lawn. I've heard that some people have been banned from here for bad behavior, and that would be a bummer, because then you'd have nowhere to meet your friends, unless at the Starbuck's at Kroger's, and then people would discuss how you can't drink at Lloyd's anymore! Groooosssssss, out of everything ordered, only the fried clams were decent enough to choke down. Had I read the reviews, I would have noticed the gentleman 3yrs earlier had the same inedible burger like roundish patty that had been made maybe 2 yrs and 364 days prior. The kids hotdog was grey and I'm not sure it was really a hot dog. The fries were like freezer burned pieces of styrofoam and the "burgers" we're like dog chew toys. In addition to that, zero lettuce tomato or a single pickle to mask the lack of attempt to make edible food. Go elsewhere. PS. A kick in the gut when you get the bill too. Worst hamburger I ever ate, I order their blue burger and what came out was a Kroger pre made burger that was on the grill for days. No lettuce, tomato, or pickle, and a sorry drop of not so good blue cheese dressing. wasn't worth 99cents. Will never go back. read more

It's a bit of a misnomer that everything on Grosse Ile is nice, fancy and expensive. And Lloyds is a great example of it. It by far is one of the diviest places in the southern Downriver area.... not that that is a bad thing. Nestled between some of the more expensive dining staples of the area, and the Kroger that charges double the price of the one just 3 miles away, you would expect this place to be a bit... more. We went in with a friend for a few drinks on a Sunday afternoon. The place was rather dead, but a lot of regulars seemed to slink into their normal stools at the bar. We were drinking beer so really, you can't go wrong. You order a bottle, you're given a bottle and then you drink it. It was cheap, so that's also a big plus. The place is a bit of a mess though. Everything seems like it's been there for 20 year or more and never changed. If you're in GI, it's definitely a good bet for a cheap drink, since there aren't really many other options, and even GI needs some grit once in a while. read more

Had a great dinner here, one of my favorite restaurants downriver. Always enjoy the Slim Jim and Clam Chowder. Steaks always are on point compared to even the steak houses around. Bar is clean, food comes out in a fair time, wait staff is plenty great. I even seen a bachelorette party for one of the staff from the customers. We have been dining at Lloyd's for years and especially love the great perch dinners on Friday and in our opinion the best perch Downriver. Also, we enjoy going in on Monday"s or Tuesday"s for the daily specials. The Chicken Frangelico is fantastic as well as the Turkey Meatloaf and the Stuffed Green Peppers. My wife and I go to Lloyd's at least once a week. The food is great, and their Cajun Shrimp and clam chowder soup are fantastic. It's just a pity that the Cajun shrimp is only served on Saturdays! Wow. I'm in town visiting my family on the Island. I had a nice glass of wine here. That was it. I ordered a panini, they were out of panini bread, did not notify us, and gave my whole family random wraps instead of the paninis we ordered. I would have picked out a wrap that I wanted if I knew that was my only option, instead of a random one. Brother in law ordered hot wings, got plain mini fried wings, had to go up to the bar to get the chocolate milk we ordered for the kids. They were out of the beer I ordered. I don't know. I mean, the wrap was good after I picked out the peppers, just not what I wanted and I didn't get a chance to pick something new. Well. Like I said, my wine was really good. read more

I've been here a few times over the years while visiting family on the island. Have never been super impressed, but it's convenient and I like their patio. But the customer service (or lack thereof) the other night is what this review is for. I ordered a "half Cajun chicken pasta". It was delivered, and then a good 4-5 minutes later the waitress came and grabbed it from in front of me and said "this is not yours, this is a full order". She returned with a very small portion (for $13) which came from god knows who else's table. I was so disturbed I only ate a few bites. I worked at several restaurants when I was younger... isn't it just common sense to take that small loss and let me keep the full size that I've already had in front of me, outside?? I honestly feel worse for whoever's table that ended up at! One of the only times in my life that I can say I would've rather paid $1 for a rubbery McDonald's burger. read more

Nice updates.! New paint and some new T.V's really helped brighten up the resturant. On to the food. Whitefish on Thursday was big and moist and really liked that the owner was BBQing on the grill outside. Everyting smelled great. Friday night we had the perch and the chips. Best fried fish EVER. Lloyd's has been providing dinner for us every friday night since it opened. The menu provides everything that you might want, and the service is excellent. Fridays are fish nights and you can dine on Perch, Cod, Pickerel or frog legs. In addition to these well prepared meals there is Lloyd's famous ribs which will melt in your mouth. If you are inclined to go Mexican, you can enjoy a large order of super nachos. We believe Lloyd's is the best place to enjoy a meal in a friendly atmosphere, in the Downriver area. Stopped in for dinner with my wife. No complaints about the service. However the steak had no flavor. I don't think there was any seasoning on it at. It was very disappointing. Definitely not worth the $18 I paid for it. The Ciungans shrimp was also disappointing. Over battered large shrimp. Not sure what the rave is about them. I don't go to lloyds very much any more. The food seems to be ok at best. They are often out of items. The beer never seems to be cold. read more

This is my favorite place to eat on Grosse Ile! I absolutely love all their lunches and dinners. I especially like their Michigan Chicken Cherry Salad for lunch! Soooo delicious and different from the other Michigan Chicken Cherry Salads in Michigan! I could eat it every day! I look forward to their wonderful homemade soups daily! Mondays and Tuesdays they prepare something special for dinner and it's always a treat to see what it is. Wednesday is spaghetti day! A salad, huge plate of spaghetti with or without homemade meatballs, garlic bread and a glass of wine! Oh yeah! On Friday, it's Lake Perch, Pickerel, Frog Legs, Whitefish and I can't remember what else. And their Friday & Saturday clam chowder is the best. I'm not kidding! My husband and I travel a lot and eat out whenever we travel.We've tried many clam chowders but none taste as good as Lloyd's! Lloyd's is packed on Friday evenings because all their dinners are fabulous on Friday! Saturday is their world famous Ciungan's Shrimp! You have got to order this and then go back and tell all your friends how delicious it was!!!! When the weather is warm, they grill their chicken breasts and Bar BQ Ribs outside! Mmmmm! And people can eat outside too in nice weather! The waitstaff is excellent, very friendly and eager to please their customers. The owners are friendly as well and really care about their customers. This is not your typical bar! It is children friendly and they even have a special menu for children. The interior recently was given a face lift and it looks great! Lloyds is definitely the best restaurant on the island. The owners put a lot into renovating the place, and are there a lot, making sure everyone is satisfied. They greet regulars and first-timers with the same genuine welcome. The staff is incredible, very friendly and efficient. And the food is outstanding, especially the barbecue during the summer, daily specials and Ciungan's shrimp. I love the deck in the summer, gives you a nostalgic, small-town experience. Well it was car show time again on Grosse Ile and after a couple of years of picking different places to eat after the show, we returned to Lloyd's Bar & Grill.
