Our air conditioner has been broken for nearly a month at this point. Now we have a GE Zoneline air conditioning system rather than central air, but we still would have appreciated the same level of service those with central air have reported seeing here. When it first broke my boyfriend contacted a local HVAC guy who's van we'd seen in the neighborhood, but he kept canceling/rescheduling appointments so I contacted JPRO based on the nice reviews they have here. James was busy so he sent Ben to take a look at our system. Ben showed up on time and diagnosed the problem, was unable to fix it that day but charged us the $75 service call charge and promised to get back to me the following business day to discuss the next steps. And then we never heard from him again. I left voicemails and called and he never returned any. Eventually I called James again who told me that he thought the issue was resolved and promised to follow up with either personally or have Ben call me back within the next few days and again I heard nothing. At this point I've taken the situation into my own hands and contacted a third HVAC guy. Luckily enough the third one was honest and helpful. read more

James installed for us a new HVAC system, gave us a 3 year home warranty which was worthless. Our unit quit working, the compressor had gone bad. I called him, left message after message and he never returned any call. What good is hiring someone to do work for you if their word isn't worth the paper it's written on. read more

I recently had James replace more or less my entire HVAC system at my townhome. I had an old Apollo Hydroheat unit (a hot water heater that also provides heat for the house) that broke, and rather than get a replacement unit, I decided it was time for a conversion to a standard furnace / hot water heater. And while my air conditioner wasn't technically "broken", it had never worked very well, so I decided to get it replaced at the same time. I got no less than 5 estimates from other HVAC places in the area, and all of them seemed way too expensive. I knew it was a big project, but even so... we have this thing called the "Internet" these days where it's not too hard to look up the actual wholesale prices on HVAC equipment, and nonetheless, even taking out labor costs, all of the estimates I'd received were marking up the furnace by 200-300%. I'd almost given up and resigned myself to paying a ridiculous markup, but figured I'd try just one more estimate and called James - who, it turns out, is completely upfront and honest about exactly how much the equipment really costs and ended up saving me a _ton_ of money. He's also great at communication - any time I had a question while I was away, I could just send a text message or email and get a response back within a few minutes at most. So I'm somewhat mystified at Dana B.'s experience given my own - all I can say is mine was great. And, most importantly, my new furnace (a 95% AFUE unit) & AC work great and are a huuuuge improvement over my old junky Hydroheat system. James is now my go-to guy for anything HVAC-related in the future. read more

I, unfortunately, cannot recommend this guy at all. We had a problem with our washing machine and he came and fixed it. It then leaked, and he had to come back. He brought his dad and they fixed it, but it took a very long time. Then a few weeks later it leaked again. I called James twice, and he never returned my call. So then I called Leonardi's (who I will ALWAYS call now), and they fixed it in 5 seconds but showed me that this guy had put the drum in the wrong way! Not good. A big waste of time and money. Avoid this guy. James Wojcik is a crook. We had HIS FATHER as our appliance repair guy for over 10 years. He was a stand up guy who said, "It's fixed or its free." His dad kept our aging washer and dryer going and then one day the dryer was too far gone and he never charged us for that consultation and repair attempt. THREE VISITS IN ALL!! James took over the business when his Dad retired. We had him fix our refrigerator ice maker, our furnace twice..... all reasonably-priced and timely jobs. Then in 2015, we needed our washer repaired. James didn't return calls when we tried to set up the service call, and wouldn't return emails. Finally he showed up, several days later, said he had a broken truck and he'd had to borrow a truck and also had cell phone issues.. ...a full mailbox. He totally dismantled our washer. Said they had the parts at Sears and he could go get them right away, but he was short on cash from problems/repairs to his truck. My husband gave him $180 cash. And that was the last we saw or heard from James. We had to pick up all the washer pieces and put it out for the junk man, as no one knew what he'd done and didn't want to touch it. Unfortunately, we had been really happy with this business in the past, and had recommended JPRO to many friends. Fast forward to March 2016, and we hear that a friend had called James for a repair. He worked on their appliance but it wasn't fixed. James never returned calls , never came back. James again took the money and ran. We had had a long relationship with this business and we felt that James must have been in really dire straights to take our money. .... and we felt stupid for being so trusting ..... so we never reported it. Now, however, we feel horrible because a friend was also taken advantage of. Shame on you James. Your Dad would be mortified. Avoid this business. read more

James is very professional....I called around to three HVAC companies in Chicago, all who wanted to charge me $100 to $150 service calls to look at our furnace. My furnace only needed a blower rebuild/cleaning, etc. I would recommend JPRO to all my friends and family. A+ read more

JPRO showed up on time and did a very fast and efficient job of replacing my aging (10+ year old) furnace and putting in a new name brand furnace to replace it. It has been over two years now and the new furnace has been working great with zero issues. The rates were very affordable and less than the competion. The flue pipe was impropperly installed and had be fixed which took an extremely long time to get done. read more

Called JPro to fix a GE appliance for us. He called back the same day and arrived the next day to take a look at it. (So I gave him 2 stars for responding to our inquiry in a timely manner) After accessing the problem he told us he would order the parts and return the next week for repairs. He charged us $75 and we never heard from him again. read more

We recently contacted JPRO for a malfunction issue we were having with our refrigerator. Or more accurately, we contacted a handful of appliance repair businesses, and James from JPRO was the first to respond and ask when he could come by. It was later in the day, so James stopped by the next morning as he said he would. He spent about an hour or so diagnosing the issue, which turned out to be frost buildup due to a failed adapter on the circuit board. The part had to be ordered so it took a few days to come in but James was back over to install it. We had the fridge fixed in a timely manner for a reasonable price thanks to JPRO. Communication could be stepped up a notch (i.e. notice of delay, change in scheduled visit, etc.) but other than that no complaints so far. read more

We found James through a friend who found him on Craiglist. I was very scared to call someone from a Craiglist ! It worked out very well for us ! He comes, he fixes and he leaves :) No small talk, no table manners , just work and get out . He has come to our house many times to fix our AC and fridge. He returns calls and replies to txt messages promptly. If he was running late , he always informed me. He really knows his job and he is very good at it. No matter how much time the job took, he finished and even came back to do it. He is trustworthy. read more

I'm writing this review on behalf of my father. My dad contacted James this in May 27,16 to repair blower on central air unit. He charged my dad $200.00. My dad started having same problems and phoned James but just as some of the other reviews he refused to return the call. My dad was forced to contact another company that charged $75.00 to tell them that James installed the blower motor to short which caused damaged to circuit board, another $850.00. I sent a certified letter to the Oswego address but it was returned to me. If he does not respond I will report him to the National Center on Elder Abuse. Ever since I moved to this God-forsaken state I feel like I've been grossly overcharged when it came to repairmen, like AMY and Nicor to name a few. So when our stove was leaking gas I was regretting the process of trying to find someone who wouldn't rip me off. I went to a web-site recommended by a friend. One appliance repair company was recommended. I checked them out on YELP and both their reviews were terrible. I looked in the right margin of my laptop screen and there was JPRO with all 4 stellar reviews. I called James on a Saturday, he came over in a couple hours. He couldn't find a leak, so he applied Teflon to all the fittings and tightened everything that could be tightened. Fantastic service, nice young man, and he doesn't charge you just to show up in your driveway. I have finally found "my guy"!! I highly recommend James and JPRO!! read more

The first interaction with this company was ok. He immediately called me back and was at my house within an hour, pleasant guy. My freezer was having frost issues and the fridge was not staying cool. He fixed this, though leaving a mess of greasy fingerprints throughout my freezer/fridge and what appears to be burn mark on the bottom edge of the back of the freezer. I could have overlooked these things if the job had gone well. About 3-4 weeks after the initial visit I was having the same issues. I called the company daily, leaving voicemails every time and continued with the phone calls the following week. That was about 2 weeks ago and still not a peep from them. I will take my appliance repair business elsewhere. read more

In fairness I will start this review by acknowledging two previous experiences with Jpro appliance repair that were satisfactory. The third time was NOT a charm, however. Our refrigerator stopped working, so I called Jpro. The owner came out and declared, on the second visit, the first fix having not been successful, that we needed a new condenser to the tune of $835. I gave him, I believe, $435 as a a deposit. After not being able to reach him for several days to find out when the repair would be made, and being without a refrigerator became intolerable, I called someone else. He came out the same day, and to my surprise found the problem to be a simple faulty thermostat. He ordered it that day, had it delivered via FedEx and installed it the next day. Jpro finally called that same day and I told him the problem was corrected, and inquired as to a refund. I knew he would incur an expense returning the part, so the refund would be a bit less than the whole $435. He assured me it would be forthcoming shortly. It has been several months now and he will not answer my emails or calls. He is NOT an honest businessman. Steer clear of this business!! read more

This summer my air conditioner broke down. I called around to a few places that all wanted $100 just to come look at it. I left JPro a message on Saturday, and James called me back on Monday apologizing since he'd been sick. He said he could come look at it that night. He was able to get my air conditioning working, but I have an older furnace, and he wasn't familiar with the control module that linked to the thermostat (but knew it wasn't functioning) so he said he'd get the part that night from Villa Park (I'm in Aurora). While I'd have to manually control it until he could return later that night, at least I had air. I was working from home so... winning!. James returned later and because the part was for newer models, still had troubles understanding how to connect it. He tried his best, but would have to return 2 days later. I suppose it helped that I had manual air conditioning, but he even brought in his father's experience with older models (thanks Dad), though in the end, it was James that found the solution. James had told me that if he did not know how to fix it, he didn't charge for it. He was very professional, and fair, and for all of the time, travel and effort he put into fixing it, the repair cost was very reasonable. I'd recommend James to my neighbors any day. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS GUY! He is an unprofessional, incompetent, sloppy, lying, crook! I hired him to install a Heating and Cooling System based on a recommendation from someone who had used him a few years ago. What a big mistake! Dealing with him was a nightmare. He botched the install. My brand new AC that he installed on 8/1/16 stopped working less than two days after installation. He came out once, after repeated calls and texts, to "service it." He did not fix it, but claimed he had. He was supposed to return this past Monday, but despite repeated phone calls and text messages, he has not returned, nor does he respond to my calls. In hindsight, I should have known he would be a problem. After he secured the contract, he never showed up when he said he would. Once, he had me waiting for him all day, and he never showed. Later, he told me two different stories about why he didn't show up. His work was sloppy, and unprofessional. He left a lot of his trash in my house and on my property for me to clean up, and he got tar on my floor. Most importantly, less than two weeks after having a brand new Heating and Cooling System installed, I must incur the expense of hiring another HVAC company to fix James Wojcik's work. This guy is very bad news, and does not deserve to be in business so he can cheat more people out of their hard earned money. Again, do not use him! read more

Add me to the list who gave James free money. Came out to look at dryer, absolutely had no idea what was wrong because he didn't have the tools necessary to check, said they were stolen out of his truck. A red flag should have went on at the point for me and should have told him to leave. But i like to give the benefit of the doubt. He came to conclusion is was door switch. Took it out and replaced it but couldn't get it to work, he had no idea how to wire it. So he came to the conclusion it was the timer. Ok fine, here's the service call fee, I'll go get the part the next morning as its after 11pm at this point and James said he would come out the next day to fix in the afternoon. No show and he finally texts me at 11 at night to sat he forgot. Ok no problem, he says he'll be there between 12-2 the next day. Nope never showed by 3 so we text him says he has no money to put gas in his truck but my 75 dollar check is cashed. Hmmm. Has to wait until 4-6pm to meet a guy to get paid. 8pm rolls around, no show still. Text him says he can't meet guy until 9:30. Well thanks for the communication!! Since I paid 120 bucks for a part he says he will use I pretty please ask him to come the next day and he says sure between 10-noon. Nope no show. I'm done, call and ask for refund of call fee since we can't keep taking off work waiting for him. In 2 weeks, has not returned any calls. Now I don't mind paying for a service call but he literally tore the dryer to shreds with the promise to come back and help me put it back together after I bought the part needed. If he would have put it back together as he found it, no problem. But it was in a ton of pieces, a non wired door switch was now there which wasn't even the problem. Guy should change his slogan from "fix it or it's free" to "I'll tear all your shit apart with no clue of what's wrong, take your money cause you're a trusting person only to ignore you for all of time you sucker" Learned a lesson here, never give money until a job is done. That was my fault but shame on James for this type of business behavior. I'm telling anyone who will listen about this guy. read more
