Ordered from happy hour menu and the crab tower from regular menu. All the happy hour food was good. Service was quick and nice. Overall experience was great. Only disappointing food was the crab tower from the regular menu. What they charge for the quality of the dish is not right. The leafy greens are packed in and not dressed, the large chunks of red onion are not edible. And the amount of crab is pretty small especially since the whole point of the crab tower is to get crab. Ok let's just say if you not local or colored person good Luck if you ever feel like judged or stared at it with no service. They would never ask if you need a glass of water. How are you doing till the tip comes at the end but that's not even the story, but keeping the stare as if you're not belong, there is disturbing in Kent, Washington. My first time being here and the service & food quality are pretty awesome. Nice cocktails menu with reasonable pricing (for drinks) so I'll come back for happy hour. We got seated at the dining area initially, but requested to move to the bar area instead since the vibe in the dining area... is pretty dimmed. The lack of decorations there are not very welcoming for my first time experience and it makes me sad. Anyways, we ordered food at the new table and the yummy Elderflower cocktails picked me up immediately :) food came out fast and fresh. My steak got cooked as a well done instead of medium rare. The bartender who serviced us was quick to correct the order and was very attentive. We ended up chilling for few more cocktails and snacked on the food. Really nice dining experience. Went here today because I go to the one in Renton big difference in the food I love the shrimp avacodo salad In Renton .The salad in Kent was awful bacon kind of raw and cold prawns weren't grilled and also cold my grandaughter had Chilli prawns way to breaded just ok! It's been a few months so I thought I would go back to see if anything has changed. It would be nice if this could become a regular place to eat. The music has been turned down so it's at a normal pub volume. You can hear the people with you at the table. That was nice. The chili was awesome again. It has a lot of meat (read the first review). The chili is my favorite dish at JP's. They improved the chicken wings for sure. They didn't have the batter caked on this time. It was thin (nicely done) and perfectly cooked. The waitress was awesome! She was very nice and came by our table on a regular basis. She smiled, knew the menu, and made suggestions. The bartender was the same guy as last time. He was happy and smiled but this time, he spoke to people in a normal volume for the bar. Much better! I didn't see any employees (in employee shirts) drinking and making a scene at the bar this time. The place was pretty busy for a Sunday night. The turkey sandwich was terrible. If you look at the photos, you'll see that they just cut a chunk out of the sliced turkey that was smushed together (like a block). They didn't bother layering the meat so it was just a chuck on a quarter of the bread. The meat itself was extremely dry. I choked after taking a bite. It was probably left in the refrigerator without being covered (or not fully covered) for too long. The frig will dry out meat because most have a defroster. That's why you don't have ice build up in the freezer. It takes the moister away. The worst part was the mayo! It was caked with mayo! There must have been a quarter jar of mayo on the sandwich. It was so gross. The bacon was good so I ate it and tossed the rest. Check out the pics to see the mayo-sandwich. You guys are so close to being an awesome restaurant! Keep pushing forward. Oh yeah, you have an open kitchen so remember that people can look in. Well, they will look in and they will see that one of your cooks is always on his cell phone texting. The service here was really great! Our server, Lexi, sat us quickly and was the right amount of attentive during our time. I ordered the Philly Cheese Stake. They were generous with the meat and cheese, but lacked a bit of flavor. I'd give it 7/10. My two friends both gave their meals 10/10. The Caesar Salad fulfilled her expectations and had good flavor. I walked up and asked for a booth and was told none was available. Then I pointed to an empty booth and was sat down. Then I waited 30 mins and no one came to ask if wanted anything. Stopped in for a weekday lunch meeting. The location was very clean and the staff was friendly. I ordered a reuben sandwich. The toasted rye was delicious and held up well. The sandwich had a good portion of meat on it. Sauerkraut was on the mild side. The sandwich and had a good flavor overall. The fries were fresh, well salted, and crispy. I honestly can not wait until I'm allowed to sit at the bar at JPs again. The food here is way more delicious than it has any right to be-actual ambiance/decor is just whatever. But the staff, beer selection, incredible food, and fantastic cocktails earn this place 5 stars consistently. Fried pickles, Caesar salad, Italian meatza pizza, and chimichurri chicken are must-haves. The Meaty Yolker burger is also a delight if you're prepared for a large and in charge type burger. They've got an impressive selection of hot sauces, so if you have a favorite, ask-they just might carry it or something similar. The patio is lovely on a sunny day, and there are like a million TVs inside if you're feeling sport-sy. Definitely go, there's something here for everyone and every sever and bartender is an absolute delight! read more

Great beer, good food, but the service was horrible. It wasn't even busy, and it took me and my wife 15 minutes after we got our beer to order food. The bartender was nice but had no sense of urgency to people twiddling their fingers waiting for service. I watched her stare at us as I finished my 22 oz beer, receive a ticket for drinks in the bar, then made the 6 margaritas instead of just simply asking how other tables were doing. We came in to the bar at 8:45 after a soccer game. The website says they're open until 10. As soon as we came in, the bartender informed us last call was in 12 minutes. We like their pizzas and sandwiches (club, Ruben, and the French dips) the pizza dough is fresh and I like better then some of the places who specialize in pizzas. Amid the sea of disappointment and despair that is the overhyped teriyaki and chain restaurants in my area, JP's is the light of Renaissance in the proverbial dark ages of food in my hometown. I previously posted a review about this place that was good, but not great, but I am changing my review to 5 stars because I am floored by the response to the current crisis that this restaurant has given. Where some places closed up shop or their quality fell, JP's obviously took the time to carefully navigate this new landscape and meet the challenge with gusto. The quality of their to-go services, from presentation, special requests, and flavor profile has improved so drastically it is like a whole new restaurant. I cannot speak their praises highly enough, thank you JP's! Now, whenever we order from them, whether it's from Uber eats, picking up, or dining-in (socially distanced of course), the care shown from the waitstaff and kitchen, astounds me. I am so grateful that JP's Taproom has risen to the occasion during this hard time. Thank you to Raymond (the manager on staff today) and his team (the glorious few who blessed my family with an phenomenal meal tonight) for continually making my family's dinning experiences marvelous. Most recently, we called and requested a special dietary change after placing an Uber Eats order and the staff happily obliged us in the preparation and packaging. We've been here quite a few times, and the food is consistently good. They have weekend brunch, good variety of beer & cocktails, and friendly staff. We've dined on their patio a few times, it's right near a pretty busy street but if you have engaging conversation, that will quickly disappear. Today I had a Bloody Mary & BLT. I didn't get a buzz off my drink, which is an indicator for me. The BLT had tons of bacon, a definite plus, but bread options didn't wow me. So we were desperate to find a place in Kent after my daughter's graduation. A buddy of mine said JP's Taproom was a couple miles away. I thought "Did this guy just suggest we take kids to a bar?". So we went. JP's Taproom is not just a bar it is a higher quality American style restaurant with a huge menu. They were able to accommodate a party of 10 on short notice and it was for sure kid friendly. My buddy suggested the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich which he swore by so we decided to share the steak sandwich and a rack of ribs. Seemed to make sense. The ribs were above average and the steak sandwich was great. The hidden gem came in the form of the chicken wings. My 12 year old couldn't stop eating them which means they are good. She is our family's top wing expert and she likes em hot. I tried one and came to find they had a unique flavor, not just Frank's Red Hot, but their own sweet and spicy sauce. Pretty great.
