I have eaten here several times, and it has sort of become my "go to" for American style food choices. Earlier this week I was there for lunch and had a "soup/sandwich combo. Their combo menu has excellent choices. I had clam chowder and a half Reuben sandwich. The chowder was praise-worthy, which is a rave I seldom give. It was a very creamy base and filled with large, tender pieces of clam and chunks pre-fried bacon. Absolute perfection! I'm probably going to skip the sandwich bedtime and go for a bowl of chowder! That being said, I have no complaints on the sandwich either. The meat was piled on, and very lean. I skip sauerkraut but the cheese and dressing were spot on. The bread was grilled to perfection. For a lunch under $20, it was amazing! As someone else wrote, the noise level is quite high. I wear hearing aids and I reset them for the noise, but it was still a bit of a challenge to hear my lunch-buddy across the booth. My girlfriend and I ordered food for the first time from J.p's off Uber Eats. I ordered the Turkey Club, It was delicious, turkey was carved and thick, the avocado balanced it all out. I got mine without cheese. The fries where fresh and crispy, they travel well. Appetizer: Deep fried pickles. It was so yummy, the dipping sauce brings it all together. My girlfriend ordered the Angus Burger with fries and she loved it. The burger was juicy, and she added cheddar. The bun was nice and soft with a little crisp. Came to watch the Warriors vs Trailblazer game this evening with my family. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but there were a few patrons seated. We ordered some appetizers to snack on while the game played and they arrived fairly quickly. Selections: * Crab + shrimp tower salad * Fire roasted habanero wings * Beef nachos * Steamed Manila clams in a pesto sauce + bread * Vanilla creme brûlée The salad was great. The seafood was fresh, but the dish as a whole could have used a little more S&P. The wings were meaty, juicy, and had a nice kick to them. The nachos were ok. There wasn't much meat nor cheese, but it was decent in taste overall. The Manila clams were delicious. The bread was soft, but crunchy on the outside. Perfect item to soak up the pesto sauce the clams came with. The creme brûlée was thick, but smooth and creamy. It was a standard dessert done well. The restaurant itself is a good size and clean. The drink menu had plenty of options and the cocktails sound delicious. It's a great addition to the Kent area and a good place to eat at if you don't want to go far from home. read more

For folks in Meridian, Covington and Kent East Hill, JP's is a real find. This sports bar is lively, with good solid food and creative drinks. There are "restaurant" tables if you want to bring the family. What impressed me was the menu. It's not huge but it covers a lot of ground as an all around American menu. Everything from club sandwiches to personal pizza, from burgers to salads, the food is fresh and carefully made. The cocktail drinks are clever and complicated and the beer on tap is a great selection of local microbrews. I had the Italian pizza while my wife had the calzone sandwich with chicken. I had the cider on tap while she had the pomegranate lemon drop (vodka martini). We loved it and will return. read more

This is my third time here in under 24 hours. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Their tap selection has something for everyone. The wine list is more than acceptable. Their food is excellent. We split a burger; it came out cut and on two plates. Perfect. Best part, it is less than .5 miles from the house. Easy walk for great food and beverage. So nice to find a place that is out of town friend worthy so close to home. Update - we have tried online ordering and in person take out orders; so unimpressed. They can't get the order even close. I love the philly skillet, and my daughter loves the high quality steak and eggs. The happy hour has a great selection and wonderful prices. Nice neighborhood spot. We had dinner on the patio last night. It was packed (good for their biz) and amazingly the service was very good. We recognize many restaurants are unable to staff will skilled servers at this time, but the hostess and server were excellent. Food has always been good here. Nice variety. We had a couple of cocktails (great Old Fashioned), a delicious Angus cheeseburger (cooked exactly as ordered -med rare), and the fish and chips are always great. Came in for a quick drink and stayed for a second because of how wonderful the staff is. Darius was so engaged with the customers, friendly and so fun to talk sports with. Our bloody Mary's were top notch and the beer selection was perfect with not too many IPS's. We had a great time. It was obvious that Darius loves his job and his customers. Wow. The disappointment. This is a review for my time spent here during HH ($1 off drinks, and a solid selection of apps). My boyfriend and I have been looking forward to the opening of JP's ever since we saw that it was coming to Kent! I was even more excited when all the great reviews started pouring in. Whatever magic the good reviewers saw during their visit was COMPLETELY gone for mine. First off, the decor is completely lacking. You walk in and you instantly feel like you're in a cookie-cutter suburbia home. Earthy tones on the walls, no art with the exception of like 5 paintings that are too small for the walls... That should've been a sign enough that this place clearly opened way before it was ready to go. We were seated pretty much right when we walked in - we opted for sitting at the bar. Our waitress took our drink orders (a Pumpkin Pie Martini for me and the JP Mediocrity for my boyfriend) and was on her way. First strike for me was when my boyfriend was giving her his drink order and she interrupted him and goes "yeah okay the JP Mediocrity." Like... I know that's a common thing waitresses do because they know what the drink is, but her tone was rude as hell. It took probably 5-10 minutes to get our drinks, and the bartender had to read the recipe card to make mine - it was four ingredients. The waitress finally brought us our drinks, and my boyfriend's beer was just spilling everywhere. That's cute for movies and shit but it's not cool when you bring it to our table, DRIPPING it all over us and our table. Come on now. P.S. The Pumpkin Pie Martini was amazing!! I wanted to try something seasonal/special, and that was by far the best choice. The one star on this review is for that drink. Our waitress took our order - mozzarella sticks. I forgot to order fried pickles, and the next time she walked by, I placed that. 10-15 minutes go by and we get our mozzarella sticks. They were really big and looked great so I was so excited! Onnnlyyy to find out that they were lukewarm, the cheese wasn't melted enough whatsoever and the breading was bland as could be. The marinara sauce was the best part of that dish. Another 10 minutes go by. Still no pickles. Our waitress walks by us probably 5-10 times without saying a word. Another 10 minutes goes by. She sees that I'm getting agitated and goes, "How's everything here?" Welp. Our mozzarella sticks were gone, our drinks were gone, and she had left all the dishes there and hadn't brought us any water at all AND we were going on waiting 30 minutes for some fucking pickles when the place wasn't even busy. So, I told her we were just waiting on the pickles that we ordered twenty minutes ago - to my shock she interrupted me and goes, "Uh, yeah I know that. The order has been placed. Just waiting on the kitchen." I couldn't help but laugh when I saw and heard her go over to the kitchen and place our order for the pickles. So... We waited almost 30 minutes after we ordered the pickles, to even have the order placed. Cool. About ten minutes later we finally got them - they give you a HUGE portion. Good deal for $5, and they are pretty tasty too. At this point we were so fed up with this place that we ate about five each and got a box and the check to go. When the waitress came back, she had the nerve to blame the pickle incident on the KITCHEN staff, told us that opening night was a two hour wait, and that we were the second "pickle disaster" of the day. I'm actually mind-blown at how shitty of an experience this was. I really wanted to like JP'S. We'll come back in December or so to see if they've improved, but for right now, I don't recommend this place to anybody that wants good food or customer service. read more

This place is pretty okay. The decor isn't impressive at all. It's incredibly generic and, as other reviewers have noticed, the pictures are way too small for the walls. Like, comically so. It just looks bad...at least it's clean? The service I received was great. She was friendly and sociable with the perfect balance of being attentive while not hoovering. Definitely no complaints there! They have a pretty nice beer selection and according to the bartender they plan on expanding their selection in the future. I wouldn't mind coming here for a beer and a book during lunch. The food was average at best. I ordered the Caprese sandwich, which was about $5 overpriced. You get a choice between fries, tots, or onion strings which is nice. The plate itself had absolutely no visual appeal of any kind. No garnish or anything, it really looked "blah," but that's maybe because not only do I go out to eat a lot, I also take an extra second to make my plates look pretty while I'm at home. Presentation is important to me, to say the least; you eat with your eyes first! Though they did take the time to make my dad's chili look pretty, so presentation isn't completely lost on them, I just got screwed. All and all I don't know if I'd want to eat here again, but I feel this place is acceptable for drinkage. read more

I love the JPs location in gig harbor so this seemed like a safe bet. This JPs is a step up for sure! A little nicer, slightly fancier menu but still solid favorites. I was very happy with my lunch and the service and the client I met here was impressed as well. We both had sandwiches with different salads as sides and as filling as it all was pretty much both ate everything. That's always a good sign! The server was super prompt and kept our drinks filled and the place was very, very clean. I'd go again for sure! I think I'll even check out their other locations when I'm in the area! read more

***Just Opened*** OMG!!! Kent peeps this is the place to go. My wait is over. Finally a fabulous place opens. A massive drink list and d-lish bites. We just had the Philly Steak and Cod n Chips. The fries are the best I've ever had and let me tell you I've had fries from the finest joints. Their seasoning is the *bomb*. I'm so excited and I can't wait to come back and try their other items. Please be patient while they work out the kinks on service. The atmosphere is new and modern. Needs a bit more furnishings and decorative pieces to warm the joint up. After my first drink, I adjusted to noise and dug having patio to ourselves. In same weird way, it was zen. That was until someone honked. Back to food. Very good. Service was great. I like this place, it's close to home and good for a quick drink and bite to eat. The staff was really friendly and they also seemed to get along well with each other, I got a good "team spirit" vibe from them. My crab tower was really yummy and fresh, and my boyfriend liked his chili. So me and my wife and kids were out looking for a good place to eat. I always check Yelp for reviews to make sure before we go. I checked this place and the reviews looked good. We got our table and drinks pretty fast, no issues. Looked over the menu decided what we wanted and started to order. The waitress did not write anything down which always makes me nervous. Got our order of pickle chips and they were amazing. We both ordered new diet Coke's. They both tasted like either mold or old stale soda. We let her know and immediately her attitude changed and she was sure to let us know that there is no way anything was bad. So I ordered a regular coke and the wife had water. Then we got our food. Three out of the four dishes were wrong, the coke she brought me looked almost clear and had almost no taste and flat. I asked the waitress to try it, she said " I'll get my own glass and try it." She comes back with corrected food plates and I asked if she had tried it. She replies " no I don't drink soda." Really???!! You said you would try it. All the food was bland, burgers were all dry, even the medium rare. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I will never be going back for any reason. My bill was $80 and tbh is was probably a $30 meal. read more
