Most auto repair shops offer that service for less than $100. I traveled 1200 miles to purchase a 2003 GMC Savana passenger van with AWD. The Ad on craigslist said it "Literally needs nothing but a new owner". The ad listed a bunch of work done by their service department. Except for new tires, there was no sign that any additional work had been done. Here are some of the highlights that the repairs shop I hired found: A/C not working, engine oil is black, dipstick to the transmission was covered with rust and scale, transmission fluid dirty, air filter dirty, serpentine belt heavily cracked needing replacement. Also, the power steering rack was leaking and needed replacement, both side rear bolts are broken on the exhaust manifold, rear rotors are rotten. Transmission pan was leaking, transmission lines were rotted, brake fluid was green, drivers front axle seal was leaking, parking brake cable was rotted, Believe it or not, even with all these defects, the van sounded and drove great. He took his time explaining some of the cars features and never hurried our test drive.
