This place deserves absolutely 0 stars. A few years back, I bought a freezer from them. Two guys moved the freezer into my house. Before the product left the store, all of the staff claimed, "it was working beautifully and very frío" and that they "put plenty of Freon in it." But when the product came to my house, it wasn't working at all. The freezer didn't work and was very hot inside. There was no frost or ice at all.
I had to wait almost a week for them to come over and load Freon in it for it to get cold after repeatedly complaining to them over the phone. Luis, the store manager, kept telling me that, "The freezer doesn't NEED an exchange right now." After several days, eventually, he came to load the Freon into the freezer's compressor. He said one of the guys "didn't put enough Freon in it." He said Freon can "last for YEARS and YEARS" and he'll only exchange it if it stops working.
BUT, that method didn't work either. Come to find out, the freezer had a serious leak and I brought it to their attention. They LOVE coming up with lies and excuses. "Bu-but but it was working last night, I tested it before it left the shop and you have to give it more time" said the snake oil salesmen.
I called and they said they'll send someone out to fix it, but no one showed up. So I called again and they said, "We'll just get a new one for you." I had to wait 1-2 weeks for them to replace the freezer. The same 2 mover guys replaced it with another freezer. After they were finished, I tried to ask questions. One of the guys angrily told me, "If you have a problem, call the office." I explained that they never pick up the phone, but he didn't care and tried to push me away from the door when exiting out.
I tested the replacement freezer for a few days, but that one wasn't working either!!! It had the same problem the last one did. During the next several days, I called ALL of them back. Luis kept lying with more excuses and claimed "I'm busy" or "I have a doctor's appointment." They all kept giving me false promises. I demanded ALL of them to give me my money back and move the POS replacement product out of my house or I'll take legal action. One of the 2 movers actually blocked my phone number because I threatened legal action.
Luis, the manager (not the owner) is a completely dishonest liar. The guy that actually owns the shop is a crooked liar as well. The chubby salesman Chris is a manipulative liar, gets very defensive and passive aggressive when you call him out. And both of the movers suck. Also, they almost NEVER answer the store phone and try to ignore your calls on their mobile phones.
Fed up, I went to the store myself and called the police. The cop arrives and questions both Chris and I and saw through Chris's lies. He pressured Chris to get the owner on the phone. We all spoke to the owner over the phone. The owner claimed that I couldn't have my money back due to a "robbery at a TD Bank." I simply told him to go to another branch or even an ATM, but he claimed that he could only access his business account at that specific location, which the nonexistent robbery took place.
The owner's a lying scumbag. The cop told him that if I didn't get my refund, then the legal matters would become serious and they could all be sued and face criminal prosecution. A few days later, I got all of my money back. However, they NEVER moved that broken POS out of my house as promised even after I called them. Spiteful SOBs. That should be proof enough that they were lying the entire time. Luckily, I bought a new freezer from Lowe's and they moved the broken freezer out for me free of charge.
About J&R Used Appliances - All products are under temporary warranty for 30-60 days. Company is owned and ran by a Latino family full of deceit.
They schedule appointments that they never keep and they almost never show up. They'll give you nothing but endless lies and excuses as to why they won't show up, fix your product, give you a refund, or exchange your product. They don't accept credit cards.
They are a "no refund, exchange only" kind of store and I can see why.
This place specializes in theft by deception. Once they have your money, they won't care if you're stuck with a non-working appliance and will treat you like a pest. If you ever have a problem with them, simply go to their store and call 911 and ask for the Pennsauken Police to make a report. That's how I got my money back. They have a history of knowingly selling broken appliances to the public and I'm unsure why they are still allowed to be in business. They need to be boycotted and pressured to permanently close their store.
BOTTOMLINE: Avoid this store at all costs. The employees are liars, pricks and scammers. It's not worth the time, effort, money, high blood pressure and headache to do business with them. If you want an appliance, just buy a new one at Lowe's, Walmart, Home Depot, or any other known legitimate store. You will thank yourself later. read more
